LOVE being able to see the tips in place at your home! It's beautiful and the tips are super helpful! PLEASE continue with a whole series!!!!! "Thanks....until next time"
Hey Renie - thanks so much! Glad you are finding this series helpful. We'll continue for sure. Haha - yes - "until next time" for sure! :)
Great tips. However, I personally dislike the creased and puddling look. It doesn't work for people who have pets and, well, a life. And in the UK many homes have radiators under windows and people here often have curtains that stop at the window sill. Some have the longer drapes and keep them open and use blinds that reach the sil. No doubt there are people who crease and puddle. And I agree weight and balance is crucial.
Thank you for such a great video. 💕I like that it was not repetitive, it was to the point w/ no “clutter of excessive words and packed with good ideas!!!!
Love to hear that Anna - especially as I am a 'talker' and can go on & on!
Great tips! I like how you said to allow the room to breathe. Sometimes I think it's too cluttered with stuff, but it's actually too much furniture. I have difficulty figuring out what's needed when the room just doesn't "feel" right. Looking forward to more vids! Tfs!
Thanks so much for watching! I am glad you found the space tip helpful. Less if definitely often more!
I enjoyed these tips. My favorite tip: create a vignette to greet you at your front door. I love stark, very white ceilings but will try and keep an open mind towards other types. Thank you for sharing your expertise. It is appreciated.
Hi Joy - I appreciate you taking the time to watch & join in the conversation. :)
Love this series--yes, more, please! I am guilty of having too much furniture, my grandmother's antiques that I adore plus collections of things I love. My house may never be magazine worthy but I still like to try to be a good decorator.
And I am sure you are!! Being surrounded by the things you love and that have meaning is SO important. Thanks for watching!!
Me too. I have a small house anyway but I find it hard to part with family pieces.
Great ideas.
Same here! I don't think I could ever part with my family antiques.
More videos like this, please! Your style is so elegant!
Oh thank you so much Anita! More videos like this are in the works.
Thank you very much! Your home is beautiful and your suggestions are clear and attainable for any home.
Really glad to hear that. These tips can be applied to any style for sure. Tried and true - practical & useful I hope!
I changed my decor last year from classic tradational home to farmhouse. I had several of my grandmother's pieces I didn't want to part with. But they no longer matched my new decor. I struggled with what to do, then it came to me. I can change these pieces to work in my new style. So I fell in love with chalk paint ❤! So the pieces of hers (shelves that was too dark, gilded mirror frames etc) got a new life in new colors that now worked. The best part I didn't have to part with them! I think that's a huge rule to follow when decorating, is shop your home. I do this regularly. If I get tired of seeing something I love it to another room to bring it new life in a new location. Rather then going out and buying new. I was able to go out spend $30 on chalk paint & wax to bring new life to pieces that I very much loved. My grandmother was the queen of decorating 😊❤, she could turn any room into the most inviting, cozy, and welcoming space. I'm so happy I learned from her & took the things she taught me to make my home the same inviting, cozy & welcoming space. Be blessed ❤
Way to go Romella!! Thanks for sharing with us.
Thank you for being so clear in your tutorial. I enjoyed and understood each step!!!
Thank you for the helpful advice. I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge ❤️
So nice of you to say Raquel. My pleasure - hope the info was helpful to you!
YES, Yes, yes!! Move of this, Please! Love your decorating style and the simple to follow lessons.
On it Dianne! Thank you :)
Moving into my first apartment this weekend, & your tips have been soooooo helpful! Thanks so much!
Oh that is SO exciting Krystle!! Best of luck to you in settling in and making your new apt. your home!
You are so much more practical than a lot of decorators. I love it.
I take that as a great compliment Carolyn - it has to all function really well to be beautiful!
Please continue with this series. Cannot say I agree with all of them but I still love to hear about them & consider them. Thanks so much!
That's what it is all about Carrol - Considering the ideas with respect your your own home & lifestyle. Hearing something, makes you consider, evaluate, maybe look at something in your home differently. This is all great and leads to better design!
The entry vignette is a perfect touch! I’m inspired!
Goal attained - you are inspired. I am thrilled!
You are the first decorator that I have been able to use your tips and ideas directly in my own home. You have rich quality but down to earth helpful ideas. and I love that you do not have a fast screechy pitch to your speaking. I love your home as well. Thanks for a wonderful fresh approach and great practical advice
Cindy it makes me so happy to hear that you feel you can use my ideas & tips in your home. I strive for practical decor advice that improves not only the look, but the functionality of a home. Thx so much for watching!
Would love longer screen shots! Everything is so welcoming.
You're hair is beautiful!! Okay, I just started the video, but I had to say that... Now I'm gonna go watch the rest of it.
Yeah it's enough hair for two heads /1
OMG!!
I simply L♥️VE your house decor~
Well, I simply LOVE your comment! hahaha - Big thanks and welcome Badariah!
LOL I use decorative books as part of decor. I have a beautiful rug under my dining room table. I've always had one but my daughter gave me a BEAUTIFUL rug this past summer.
Wow, very informative indeed! Thank you!!!!
Kelly you are adorable and I love your videos and tips! I love decorating and these make it so fun and easy! Thanks for sharing your gift😘
I'll take "adorable" - thank you Deborah!! I love decorating too and love sharing with others who share the passion for a beautiful, comfortable home.
My Soulful Home 😘❤️💋
Ahh I love everything, and love how sweet and lovely you are 😊
You are too kind and I am blushing! Thank you :)
I always enjoy your videos & think the tips are well-thought out and interesting. One little quibble: Perhaps extra long draperies work if the drapes never move. However, functional drapes should just almost kiss the floor so that they can slide back and forth without dragging. Keep the videos coming!
Nice point Katie ! Thx for watching and for joining in the conversation.
Great tips mixing styles create ambience and creating a narrative custom designed comfort.
It's a wonderful idea. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Marie!
Great tips for making a beautiful home. Thank you!

A timeless look iis key to great decorating - thank you Charlene for the wonderful compliment!
I have never taken the time to leave a comment on a UA-cam page, so this is a first! I keep coming back to your channel to see if you have any new videos out. I have enjoyed each and every one and look forward to and am hoping to see more to come! Your tips are very practical, and my favorite take away from watching your channel are Vignettes!! I have enjoyed creating them all over my home.. they are a game changer for sure, and I LOVE them. Now, when we go on vacations, I look for small unique items for the vignettes to remember the vacation by. (Like you have mentioned in your video). So i wanted to take the time to THANK YOU for sharing your talents with us. PLEASE MAKE MORE VIDEOS! (:
Hi Karen! Thanks so much for getting in touch. I am thrilled that you are enjoying my videos. I plan to release many more in 2021. 2020 video making was tough with ALL the Zooming people in our house! I love that you enjoy making vignettes - me too! Each one is like a little art installation and especially when you add treasures from your life & travels. Hit the notification bell so I'll get word when I have a new video. Hate to have you checking back all the time. I have just started posting in the "community" section so join in there between videos...and you can always hang out with me every Wednesday on my podcast - Decorating Tips & Tricks. decoratingtipsandtricks.com. xx

Thanks for sharing these wonderful tips. I love interior designing and decorating too.
You are so down-to-earth!
:)
Thank you! This was wonderful! I struggle with choosing a color palette for decorating. I always lean to black & white/cream & then never end up with any color.
Just a little pop goes a long way! As you can see I love your palette too!
Love it, thanks so much. So helpful, encouraging and motivating.
Thank you very very much!
Thank you! I so enjoyed this video. I had a beautiful colonial home in New Hampshire filled with family pieces and found decorations. I loved making the home warm and welcoming. I am in a small apartment now, and have once again become inspired to make it as beautiful as possible for my own enjoyment. Your home is so lovely!
All the women in my family for 3 generations are decorators! (We've decided my grand- daughter is adopted - studying marine biology! What!?) I found some off-script solutions. My house has 7'3" ceilings (argh!) so I painted the ceilings the same color as the walls, but cut the color 50% with white. Also, I hang curtains at least 2-3" below the ceiling (there is a 2" crown molding - painted the same as the walls, of course) to give the illusion of more height. Hanging them flush with the ceiling as many advised made the ceiling seen lower. I have a really dark hall with no light, so I put all french doors, even the bathroom with decorative film on all the panes on that one. Huge difference! This 60 yr old house has pine planking subflooring, so after removing carpet and 2 layers of (really ugly) linoleum (and a zillion staples), I painted the floors (cream, in this instance) and threw rugs over large sections. A house that began with brown mustard walls now feels light - and no one notices the ceilings are low!
Great solutions! Your home sounds really beautiful.
Their house is beautiful, it looks really nice.
Oh I am so enjoying, loved seeing more glimpses of your gorgeous home 💛
Thank you Hilary!!
Old World Home - love both your homes ❤️️
Your tips are amazing; very clear. I really look forward to your videos :)
Hi Alanca! Thanks for coming back to watch this video! Glad to know I am explaining the lessons clearly. :)
Hi Kelly! Thank you so much for the tips!💖 I love your beautiful home!😍
Hi Chayo! Thank YOU for watching and joining in the conversation.
A great alternative to an indoor rug under the dining table if you have kids/pets is a very nice outdoor patio rug. They are easy to clean and they are made to withstand outdoor use, so they are not fragile.
Great lessons!
Very interesting advice.
Thank you!
Thank you Desiree! I appreciate that you took the time to watch. Glad you found the information useful. Have a great long weekend!
This is wonderful..thanks w.your ideas..
Hi Karen - thanks a lot! Hope you found the suggestions helpful.
Less is best I've learned...
this was very well done, with great tips. thank you.
My pleasure Lyn! Thanks fro coming by. Have a nice weekend :)
Worth the drape tip alone. Like your down to earth approach!
Thanks Joyce! Glad my tips are useful to you.
Yup that’s good!🌷
Awesome!! Thank you!!
Thanks for sharing, beautiful home!
Thank you Michelle - I appreciate that you took the time to watch. Have a great day!!
Thank you for your tips for decorating. I struggle with this. I know when I see something that I like but to actually put it in action is difficult. Kind of funny that my 3 girls all have a great sense of decorating…not sure where they acquired it. I look forward to hearing and seeing more!
I bet they got it from you Barbara!! Where else? You might enjoy my podcast. Give a listen here decoratingtipsandtricks.com . We often talk about action plans so to speak.
love your mix of wood , metals, glass and light enhancing mirrors that reflect . Elegant yet cosy and natural enough with some styling. lovely colours chosen in this video , fresh and clean country feel with the creamy soft flowers and white ceramics against the warm wood.
WOW - Thank you Ruth!
Yes, do more decorating lessons please!
Will do! Thanks for watching Elisa.
I knew my dining room rug was too small!! My dining chairs are holding on for dear life!!
Yikes!! Hang on!! Easy fix. Rugs are pretty inexpensive these days. Can you layer a sisal underneath the one you have if you love it? Or use it elsewhere?
Very nice
Thanks for the decorating tips, it's going to make my double wide mobile home the talk of the trailer park. Just can't wait for the friends to come over for pizza and beer, and see what I've done to the place.
Love it!!!
Hope you do “keep on going”. Really enjoyed.
You bet I will - this is such fun!! Thank you!!
Great video!!! you covered pretty much everything a non decorator person should know/do to have a warm cozy home!!! May I add one thing? you mentioned doing objects in 3 when it comes to a Vignette (and I believe you mentioned the same on a previous video)... personally, I like more objects in my vignettes and they usually work as long that there`s either an odd number of things (3, 5...) and always at different heights but not necessarily 3. Anyway, great video!!! love your style!!!
Odd numbers are key - more objects can definitely work. In general 3 makes a vignette, less no - more yes. If more make it well curated and use an odd number of objects. Thanks for your comment and for watching!
I can see from your decorating that you have that talent!!. I subscribed. I’m anxious to see more of your videos.
Oh that is nice to hear! "That talent" love it! Thank you :)
This was very informative. It made me feel like I could really do this! Thanks!
Mary - yes you can!!!
Love this video!!🥰 yes more
You got it Mimi!! Thank you!!
As a homemaker I feel incompetent as a decorator. I never knew there was help for people like me. You are so beautiful and I love the real examples you shared with us. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Subscribed!

Susannah thank you for your good wishes for blessings and your kind words about my videos etc. I am truly touched. xx
Thanks for the tips.
All were very helpful 😊. Thanks
Glad it was helpful Jyothi! Thank you for coming by.
Great tips! Thank you.
Thank you Nancy! I appreciate you taking the time to watch!
I love your home! Most of the decor vids I watch deal with modern or contemporary decor. I hate modern! Contemporary is alright depending on the pieces and the room. Your home feels warm, inviting and very homey . Not cold and empty. I strive to make my home feel that way. Thanks for the tips
My pleasure Rachel! Thank you for the kind words.
@@MySoulfulHome You're very welcome
Pls. Continue the series.
My PLEASURE Victoria!! Thank you!!

Really enjoyed that!!
Your hair is beautiful!
Too kind Angel - thank you!!
I thought, 'Beautiful hair!' in first second!
Loved your video. Just ran across it. I have a rather large house and have of the decorations are very old and cheap . I hate clutter , but sometime I feel like I have to many pictures or to many candles . Looking forward to watching the video for Balance!
Very refreshing. Thnx.
What a nice comment! Thank you :)

Loved your tips tfs!
Love your tips! Please continue the series! At present there isn’t any painted furniture in my living room. Can you please provide some insight with regard to furniture with various wood tones. Can you have too many different wood tones? Is there a rule of thumb? Thank you so much for sharing! 👍🏻😊🌺
Hi Cheryl :) I have a podcast episode for you - Rules for Mixing Wood Tones! Click HERE: www.decoratingtipsandtricks.com/215 Listen and lmk if you have any questions. Thx for watching!!
I liked your suggestions about creating that lovely space in your entrance that you see every time you pass by. It’s a great pick me up.
Yes the entry is a perfect place to decorate seasonally or o a whim. It is usually a small area so you pick one spot, like an entry table & create something beautiful. Thx for watching!
Good advice!
I think there are very good advices! I;ll check my big room ( dining and rest, guests ) with them. Thank you very much!
You are very welcome Ewa!
Great!!!!!
All great tips and yes I,m interested 😊
Wonderful Theressa!
Love the lessons! ☺️💕
Love having you as a "student" Robin !! ;) . Thank you for watching.
Good tips!
Thank you, Kelly. This was so very helpful as I begin my decorating projects for this coming year. I especially appreciated your idea about planking the ceiling! I, too, enjoy keeping my antique silver teapot in a small vignette with fresh flowers in my entry. It feels so warm and welcoming. AND, may I add that I LOVE your enjoyment of country French décor. We lived in France and I fell in love!
Glad it was helpful Karen! Best of luck with your 2021 decorating projects. Where did you live in France?
@@MySoulfulHome We lived in Alsace and also just outside of Paris in Chantilly. However, our favorite place to go is Lourmarin in the south of France whenever we can swing it! Fantastic Friday market! Although, we visited the markets wherever we lived! We love France so very much and made some beautiful memories there.
So helpful. Loved all the ideas, but especially putting an elegant arrangement by the front door. Keep going!! I LOVE your style and the great tips. BTW I ordered the same books you have because my favorite style is French Country!
I think you will enjoy them Geraldine! Thank you for taking the time to watch.
