When you compliment your barber they appreciate it so much. The barber also gained confidence because he did a great job. Compliment and smile to your barber while they are cutting your hair they will do it a lot better trust me.

0:40 it's actually straight, just looks crooked due to two patches of thinning hair left near the outline as the barber's goal was to hide the guy's receding hairline. He has two round clumps that are thinner but the barber still has to leave in to avoid the Jason Statham look. The alternative would be to cut higher up to remove those clumps, but that would just make his balding apparent. The barber made a judgment call to leave the two round clumps in and I think it paid off.

Okay so I'm an African American woman and all my life I had my hair done by African American stylists and if you're African American you know the wait times at black salons are long and you also know non-African American stylists will turn you away because they'll say they don't know how to cut or style your hair texture. Well one time I needed a haircut real bad and my regular stylist was booked. I was so in need of a haircut that I was calling around and visiting salons. Finally arrived at this one salon that was for Caucasian hair but this one white stylist wasn't afraid to take me on. Let me tell you, he cut my hair in the best layered bob I've ever had in my life! Everywhere I went, people of all races were like.....who cut your hair because it's amazing. I was hooked on this guy but the third time I went back, I learned he had moved to Minnesota.....Bummer!! Yall this was in the late 90s when I had a relaxer and I never ever found another stylist who could cut my hair in the perfect layered bob the way he did! On that same note, I'm now natural, aka relaxer free. Every African American stylist always wants to straighten my hair first before cutting it but I tell them that's ridiculous because I don't put heat to my hair or straighten it. That's like wanting to curl straight hair before you cut it....doesn't make sense! Well, lo and behold, the one stylist who could cut my hair in its coily state was this Kenny Rogers looking white stylist. I was so happy that I overtipped him. Nothing like walking out of a salon extremely happy and heads turning left and right. Sometimes skin folk aren't always the kin folk who can do your hair the best nor can you always style your skin folk, kin folk hair the best. I think if Americans can get past race, we'd be pleasantly surprised!

0:40 it's actually straight, just looks crooked due to two patches of thinning hair left near the outline as the barber's goal was to hide the guy's receding hairline. He has two round clumps that are thinner but the barber still has to leave in to avoid the Jason Statham look. The alternative would be to cut higher up to remove those clumps, but that would just make his balding apparent. The barber made a judgment call to leave the two round clumps in and I think it paid off.

I'm a white barber, that originally worked at a black barber shop for a few years before I started my own shop, employing black barbers. I could do this cut before I graduated barber college. However, I did train with almost nothing but black barbers for a year at barber college.

Okay so I'm an African American woman and all my life I had my hair done by African American stylists and if you're African American you know the wait times at black salons are long and you also know non-African American stylists will turn you away because they'll say they don't know how to cut or style your hair texture. Well one time I needed a haircut real bad and my regular stylist was booked. I was so in need of a haircut that I was calling around and visiting salons. Finally arrived at this one salon that was for Caucasian hair but this one white stylist wasn't afraid to take me on.
Let me tell you, he cut my hair in the best layered bob I've ever had in my life! Everywhere I went, people of all races were like.....who cut your hair because it's amazing. I was hooked on this guy but the third time I went back, I learned he had moved to Minnesota.....Bummer!!
Yall this was in the late 90s when I had a relaxer and I never ever found another stylist who could cut my hair in the perfect layered bob the way he did!
On that same note, I'm now natural, aka relaxer free. Every African American stylist always wants to straighten my hair first before cutting it but I tell them that's ridiculous because I don't put heat to my hair or straighten it. That's like wanting to curl straight hair before you cut it....doesn't make sense!
Well, lo and behold, the one stylist who could cut my hair in its coily state was this Kenny Rogers looking white stylist. I was so happy that I overtipped him. Nothing like walking out of a salon extremely happy and heads turning left and right.
Sometimes skin folk aren't always the kin folk who can do your hair the best nor can you always style your skin folk, kin folk hair the best. I think if Americans can get past race, we'd be pleasantly surprised!
