Give you a hint in China. Normally Chinese don’t buy food in such a small “famous” shopping street, it always much more expensive than the ordinary street because their rental is high.

Things are relatively expensive in 1st tier cities due to the much higher property values. Chengdu, likely to be the next 1st tier city soon is much more affordable.
Hangzhou is definitely the next tier-1 city，even better than Guangzhou
@smallflash2009 Lol... Guangzhou population is 20 million and GDP is 2.8 trillion CNY. Chengdu population is 21 million and GDP is 2.2 trillion.
Hangzhou population is 12 million and GDP is 1.9 trillion CNY. So Hangzhou is still smaller than Chengdu and a long way from Guangzhou. There's a reason why Guangzhou has been a 1st city for many years. 🙄

India, Cambodia, Indonesia, Egypt charges foreign tourist substantially more than locals. China charges the same for everyone. Free for local and foreign seniors, even local buses and metro.
Because indians already pay taxes to government in various form so the they aren't charged more than foreigners@@willengel2458.

Prices in Shanghai can be quite steep. Even as a Chinese person, I was shocked by the prices at Jing’an Temple-despite it not even being among China’s most famous temples. When it comes to food, Western cuisine in Shanghai is particularly expensive. There's a popular joke in China that you could simply pick a leaf from a tree, place it on a large plate so it looks French, call the dish "Spring," and sell it to Shanghainese diners for 800 yuan.

Jing'an Temple's ticket prices are particularly high. On regular days, it costs 50 RMB, while on Chinese New Year's Eve, it costs 1,000 RMB, and during the Spring Festival, it costs 200 RMB.
