OK', so I had a fun packed Saturday today fitting my boost gauge. I really wasn't looking forward to removing the vent pod as I've seen what a pain in the ass it is to get out . Can I just say mate that you've done it again. Your advice to remove the chrome ring first by gently prising it out worked an absolute dream. I even managed to remove it without it breaking. The pod is then easy to pry out from the inside and the job becomes a doddle with everything un damaged and ready to return to stock if needed. Thanks again mate for another video which saved me a lot of time and hassle. Your channel is really becoming a point of reference for me. Cheers 👍
Nice install video, i managed to get the whole vent pod out in one piece, undamaged. I used a big flat head screwdriver. Looking forward to see some boost readings in a future video 😉
Thank u so much for this great istruction! Gonna need this in a few days and it will help me a lot! Felt with u at the moment u noticed the vacuum line 😅 ...and congrats from germany for ya first 1000 subs 🥳
Check on eBay for t splice or tap wire connectors, you'll find the ones I use. In my full boost gauge install video which I done previously in 2/3 parts I go into detail the electrical wiring side :)
I'm guessing you are completely eliminating that air vent or is it still functional? And if is still functional wouldn't it melt the wires with the heat?... Other than that helped alot thank you man
Left side of the engine there is a sensor, you have use it in there. Might be called a MAP sensor. You'll see it it's just under the cover left side top
I bought a Mk7 surround and managed to fit, I don't know if the Mk6 fits but by the looks of it they are all the same? Don't think they've changed there air vent design in like 20 years. Sorry I can't be more help

Bob I never saw this message!! I'm so happy I helped you bro!! Enjoy watching your boost fly upwards!! Haha
Best video for the vent pod installation I've seen. Another great video mate.
I would recommend looking at my boost gauge instal video :) it's on my channel and will show you both the mechanical side and the electrical side ;)
@@MrWoods0_0 a very old video but does the job

I never had a boost leak. Turns out Peron mapping was just awful
Superb video, I just love honest clips that show mistakes cos let’s face it we learn most things in life by making mistakes 👍

Can you provide a link for the Splice connections & the wire clip joiners? Cheers 👍🏼
Check on eBay for t splice or tap wire connectors, you'll find the ones I use. In my full boost gauge install video which I done previously in 2/3 parts I go into detail the electrical wiring side :)
Wire clip joiners are called wagu connectors :)
Great info on the installation! have you got a link for them cable connectors?
Just search on eBay for a wire tap or t splice connector :) you'll find them :D
The clips are called wago connectors. Pop it on Google and you will find some :)

It's functional. It still has air vents around the side :)
I highly doubt the heat will get anywhere near to melting point. :)
Hope this helps
What are those caps called you used to splice the wired?
@@Informaldesert t taps to my knowledge :)
How do I get the wire to stay in the spade terminal?
get you this too for the mk8
Nice video, I got a boost reference adapter with the order. Do you know where it should go?

@@CarRambles thanks for your prompt reply. Ill try thanks
Can you link where you got the crome bit
Do you have a part number for the new silver surround, see ones for Mk6 etc on ebay, is it the same? Good Video too

What are those connectors called that you used instea of cutting and splicing/soldering? For the guage power from the headlight switch
T splice or t tap connectors :)
Very helpful vid thanks mate will get em ordered before i install. Doing a mk6 fiesta but process is the same
Is the heat out of the vent bad for the gauge?
I doubt it gets hot enough to efffect anything
Does the hot air still come through the vent
Yes, that's what they're designed for. The open vent surrounding the gauge will still let heater/aircon air past.
Is this only suitable for aftermarket turbo's? Or will it work on the O.E.M one?
Cheers!
Any turbo :) at the time of install I had the stock. Now on a bigger turbo :)
Cheers dude. Is it worth it for the stock turbo? - I cant afford the bigger turbo's 🤣
& I'm guessing you went for the psi one initially for stock?
Yeah still PSI now. Prefer it as the numbers are bigger lol.
It's just something to look at, so it's completely up to you if you want it 🤷🏻♂️
Hey mate, thinking of getting the boost gauge how’s it working? As I’ve heard people say the back light stops working after a while.
Working absolutely fine 😁
@@CarRambles Thanks thats good to hear, not looking forward to the vent removal when the time comes 😂
Aha try to get the silver trim off and it'll give more room 😂🤦🏻♂️
How much air flow did you loose ??
Is it annoying having look around your steering wheel and hand to see it? That's something that has put me off fitting one.
Depends on your seating position but yeah i see what you mean, i guess i use it more for looks anyway
What exhaust are you running?
Milltek nonres Race with milltek sports cat :)
Would of look and been easier with. Bigger gauge that has a ring 😅
