  • A major restoration project at Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge in Portland, Oregon in summer 2018 built a 'salmon subway' underneath the popular Springwater Corridor Trail. The large new culvert allows healthy water flow for the benefit of all wildlife and - for the first time in about a century - baby salmon will be able to reach the refuge from the Willamette River for food and rest. Project partners: City of Portland Bureau of Environmental Services, Portland Parks & Recreation and US Army Corps of Engineers, Portland District www.portlandoregon.gov/bes/OaksBottom
