I haven't seen the movie but I can tell Donnie has something to fight for. If your motivation to fight is to follow orders, fear of your commanding officer, or indoctrinated hate (such as racism), then you'll probably lose.

I think it's mainly because many people haven't seen all of his other movies, and are mostly used to his kind and gentle Ip Man character. His movies that are in more modern settings, such as Flashpoint, Killzone, or Big Brother depict a much rougher version of Donnie Yen, and he's even much larger and muscular in those films too.

It's cool to see shades of Ip Man's Wing Chun in his choreography mixed in with other styles. I see a dash of Wushu, even Korean Tae Kwon Do 3:25 ... and definitely Western boxing in his choreography. The man just does it all. A shame he and Jet Li never made a big movie together. He was sorely misused by Star Wars film franchise. Donnie Yen should have played a Jedi master and nothing less.

Sort of. Originally, there was the Bruce Lee film Fist of Fury about Chen Zhen. Jet Li's Fist of Legend was a remake to Bruce Lee's film. Donnie Yen had a TV series that was also a remake of Bruce Lee's film. This fight scene is from a movie that was a sequel to Donnie Yen's TV series. So essentially, they're both based off the same character, but different retellings

Like it actually makes sense when u say they raise the power level. here, it's so weird because the advantage goes to the one who got severely beaten. in DBZ at least they explain the reason with fictional power levels. but here, it makes no sense because a severely wounded fighter is supposed to be even easier to beat down, not the other way around.

At 1:35 the general had already won the fight. All he had to do was to come down the stairs and finish Donnie with a couple of good stomps to the throat. But, sadly, he's the villain and Donnie's the bad guy. So he has to stand there like an idiot for like 3 minutes until Donnie is fully recovered and turns the tables on him by suddenly becoming about 4 times faster, haha. It's tough, being a villain. The scriptwriters never let you win.

my problem with this fight scene is that it's extremely one-sided for the enemy, then it's extremely one-sided for Donnie.
It's just like Cartoon Network. The moment Goku raises his power level above 9000, you see the pendulum swing the other way. Yawn.
@@puppylove3781 now that u mention it, the problem with this fight scene is that I find DBZ fights more believable than this one. Like it actually makes sense when u say they raise the power level. here, it's so weird because the advantage goes to the one who got severely beaten. in DBZ at least they explain the reason with fictional power levels. but here, it makes no sense because a severely wounded fighter is supposed to be even easier to beat down, not the other way around.

Если бы он так даже их сжал (к примеру кулаки), у него бы суставы вылетели. А когда бои более 5-7 минут (бывало и 20), то это смешно. Имей хоть 1000 дан - тело не выдержит. Любое мастерство заканчивается максимум через 1-2 минуты. Это - жизнь, а не холливуд/болливуд.

At 1:35 the general had already won the fight. All he had to do was to come down the stairs and finish Donnie with a couple of good stomps to the throat. But, sadly, he's the villain and Donnie's the bad guy. So he has to stand there like an idiot for like 3 minutes until Donnie is fully recovered and turns the tables on him by suddenly becoming about 4 times faster, haha. It's tough, being a villain. The scriptwriters never let you win.
