I think the d stands for Denarius. "The system dates back to Roman times, when a pound of silver was divided into 240 pence, or 'denarius'. Romans used librum, solidus and denarius, or L, s, and d, the 's' and 'd' abbreviations survived until decimalisation."
Another very interesting sherd story ladies, such generosity of spirit from Lord Rowton. Would be nice to see the wealthy individuals of this era take a leaf from his book. Lovely finds, particularly that gorgeous little blue”bowl” and the cute little figurine.
It's like Christmas every day with you two. Only recently started watching mud larking... amazing how different people's treasures are.... some love buttons and bag tags, some love ceramics, some love sea glass..... all a source of simple joy...
OMG. Go back and get the ink that had the back broken out of it! It looked like a doll house and you could make the teeniest-tiniest little house!!!! Please???
The Sherd story was incredible. I. Really appreciate how much I get to learn whilst watching. My favourite reason for watching is both of your passion & enthusiasm 🤩😍😊
My day is always better when you post a new video. Laughter and lovely treasures as always. Wonderful little boy doll and the blue light base will fit perfectly in the doll house. Looking forward to next week ! Hugs 🥰🥰 xx
The beautiful green glass with the bird on it would make a lovely conversation piece as a rounded tile in a small garden with dwarf plants. Cover the broken edges with soil, but I expect your creative minds will have already thought of that. Love and blessings to you both and may the god of fossickers pave your path with the most exquisite and useful discoveries. ❤️ ❤️
Love this, your mudlarks are never boring after all the years I've watched. Always something new to see and spending time with two such lovely people.. my favourite time of the week.
Loved the vid, lovely little doll and the light bulb bottoms are very interesting and worth collecting for sure , I can’t wait to see if you find different colors , much love , peace ✌️
yeah, a muddy rewarding lark at the beach. congrats on your perfect little doll. so amazing he survived tossing & tumbling around on the beach for a 100 years until u rescued him. love the horse hoof pipe too. thanx for your wonderful videos. ps greatly enjoy Sherd Stories too.
More more more more. I love you guys so much.....I never want your videos to end. I check daily for a new video, please please please go back to weekly videos ❤
Lovely finds Ladies! I would have loved to see Fleur's reaction when finding the doll, I imagine lots of squealing and disbelief lol. The history of Rowton Houses is so fascinating! I read Orwell's book, which was harrowing at times, so I can believe these places would have felt like luxury to the poor. Lord Rowton seems like a bit of a hero which makes a change considering the times. Excellent video 😀💖x
Referring to your cobalt lightbulb part, my sister collects colored glass insulators. She displays them on glass shelves above the windows side by side on two walls. She has clear Christmas lights illuminating each insulator. Its gorgeous!
Thanks for this wonderful muddy mudlarking . You can find Juwels everywhere I think. The wodden thing can be a „ Klöppel“ in German. The translator says it names clapper in English . You need many of them and string them in several ways to get a handmade lace. I’m not sure but I think it looks like them. Thanks for sharing
I’m new to your channels. I found you through the doll house videos and love them. I’d never heard of mudlarking until then. Here I am now loving every single video you both make and I’m binging all of them x
I'm thinking that updated Rowton Houses are needed in many places today. With rent being so high it would be nice to at least have a place where you could live when you first find work in the city.
Thank you, both. Great job on all you are doing. Truly enjoy watching! Fantastic video work Interesting about the “not glass”. Much appreciation, the both of you. ❤from Maine US
That was another delightful video! Thank you!! I'm sorry to read in the news about the damage that Storm Babet is wreaking in Britain... but I do hope it unearths treasures untold for you that we will get to share in future videos! I'm looking forward to them! kindest regards to you both, k
I wish you had taken the glass with the eagle on it. It could have been ground down above the bird and put in a window with the light going through it. Even if you didn’t use it, someone else would have been happy to use it. It’s always frustrating not to have been there. Your other finds were beautiful.
Your glass spiked piece reminds me of my nan's pickle Christmas tree ornament. The tradition goes the first child to find the pickle Christmas ornament is to be awarded with the first present, an extra present, or the job of handing out the presents, as well as good fortune for the year. I don't know if the UK has this tradition , but it's been around a long time in the US.
Another wonderful adventure with you both. Thank you for sharing. Could the wooden item be a drop for a spindle whorl? This is the second time I've watched this video. All the items are so fascinating and all the items have a history. It's so very interesting. Fleur and Kate, Thank you!! xx (Please give Oscar a hug and Sunny Cat a tap on the head) ❤

I love how excited they get with their finds, I love how supportive they are of each other, I love that this is a free activity!
6d is sixpence or a tanner, something I used to hav in the top pocket of my jacket's for jukeboxes.
The green knobbly glass bit would make an excellent cactus plant in a pot! ❤️🇨🇦❤️
At 7:10 when Fleur"s foot was stuck was that a pipe? Thanks Ladies!!
I was thinking the same thing.
OMG. Go back and get the ink that had the back broken out of it! It looked like a doll house and you could make the teeniest-tiniest little house!!!! Please???

The thorny glass piece could be a cactus for the doll house
The inkwell without the back would have made a fun micro dollhouse!
Great fun
Wood bit looks like it might be a string holder for tatting, and yours is missing its opposite end. 🎉🎉
Great day at gobbie beach! The doll is perfect. ♥️
💛🧡🤎 thank you Fleur and Kate. A relaxing trip to the foreshore🙂
Great doll and treasures, I certainly love when you find these little gems. So cool 😎 have a wonderful week ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💜

Some great finds there, 6d is 2 1/2p in new money.
What an interesting Sherd story !
Amazing finds and history on your sherd! I love the blue bulb bottom and your doll, amazing!
I think the handle looking thing might be a spindle for making lace. Weaving lace.
It’s the little things 😊
Make a glass / clay pipe , piece the green Pocky glass and the broken clay pipe together.
The doll was amazing as was the story of Rowton House!
Very good to see a mudlarking video.
The piece of a bird bottle looks like an eagle flask, a rare find.
What lovely finds today.
Really enjoyed the sherd story this week 😊
What a great day!❤️

Great lark! Take the body without head and make one of your multi sculptures with an animals head? X
You always find such neat things! Thanks for sharing with us!
Amazing finds and history lesson as always. Cheers!
It could be Rowton Hotel.
You’re excitement is so contagious!!could the wood thing have been a bobbin?
You can cut Eagle off from bottle broken to make a jewelry. 😊
Such an adorable little boy doll.❤👦
