I would take a Skies of Arcadia port on modern consoles at this point. Just anything for that game.
All I’ve asked for years is a Skies of Arcadia port, not even a remake or remaster(though would love either). Keep up the great content and keep up the awesomeness.
i would love a port as well but at this point i'm just gonna emulate it, i'm tired of waiting. i'm currently playing through persona 5 royal, but once i'm done with that, i'm playing the gamecube version of arcadia. super excited for it

I would take a remake too. Just for the popularity it would give the franchise AND the ability for more people to experience that masterpiece. Played it for the first time in March and it’s easily on my top 10 games of all time maybe top 5 if i look into it and i’ve been gaming since forever.
In a way the Panzer Dragoon series was that evolution of the Space Harrier concept. Sure it isn't as hair trigger as Space Harrier, but many of the same themes are there, waves of enemies, boss battles. It even addressed some of the points from the video, in PD Zwei you have a dragoon that evolves according to the path/style you choose, deeper play style (you have to worry about enemies attacking from 4 directions instead of just ahead)...
Sega also had an arcade sequel to Space Harrier called Planet Harriers, never saw a home release though.
I would love to see the previous 5 sakura wars games ported or remade. Same with Phantasy Star and to show the Shining series some love as the recent games have been average at best.
Wow I ain't ever seen a rhythm game like Space channel 5.
The crossover fighting game has most interest but those tactical rpg sound neat.
I really want a Sakura Wars collection.
even just an official translation of the first game would be nice. haven't dabbled much into the series yet but it looks super cool. picked up the recent game on ps4 and plan on playing it this year

This was a really fun video! Honestly, since I'm not as much of a "SEGA connoisseur" as you, I can't think of many other SEGA franchises I'd want to get revived (though Ristar and Fantasy Zone coming back in some way would be pretty cool) but I do agree pretty much everything here on this video! And it also reminded me that I really need to get that JSR HD remaster finally, I've been eyeing that game for years but never actually played it aside from a demo on the PS3 years ago :P
Also thanks for making it clear that the mission mode in Crazy Taxi is not supposed to be fun, that explains a lot lmao
Also also I gotta agree that those Xbox sequels do be looking pretty snazzy, JSR Future looks slick as HELL and even Outrun 2 looks pretty cool, maybe it's actually a good game unlike its predecessor oops
not the outrun slander T_T but yeah dude definitely get on jet set radio! game's a lot of fun. controls may take some getting used to be i enjoy it a lot. didn't know you liked fantasy zone that much though, that's a great game right there
Would like to see SEGA all stars come back with a platformer with sonic and tails exploring other SEGA worlds(series I’d love to see would be Sakura wars,clockwork knight,dinosaur king,rhythm thief,hatsune miku/SEGA hard girls & especially Bayonetta.:3).
A necessary video. Been spending the past couple years deep diving into available Sega stuff beyond what i grew up exposed to and I've been LOVING it all. Space Channel 5, Sakura Wars, Shenmue, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, Virtua Fighter, Wonder Boy and many many many more, im obsessed. And hearing about all these other IPs left behind atm, which you made a pretty good mention of, im itching to try them officially even i end up emulating them before that happens. Heck yeah im giving my money to Skies of Arcadia, Burning Rangers etc. I'm happy with Sega's efforts to do more with them so far and am looking forward to that continuation.
Also, while not Sega owned, Yu Suzuki (main man behind Space Harrier, Outrun, Hang on, Virtua Fighter, Shenmue and many others) and his current company, Ysnet, are releasing a new game called Air Twister that is very very much Space Harrier reminiscent. Currently it's an apple arcade exclusive but keep your ears to the ground cause from what I've seen with various games, apple arcade exclusivity doesn't last long. Expect that on other platforms after a bit. Also keep an eye on their efforts with possibly continuing Shenmue into the 4th game , that franchise has been making interesting moves lately.

I'm curious if Ristar could get make a comeback somehow. It was a niche game, but it was a nice game all things considered!
Same for Gunstar Heroes! I know it's a Treasure Games IP, but that would be awesome to get another.
i'd never say no to more ristar! i remember gunstar heroes got a sequel on the gba, and it's pretty good but i prefer the original. wouldn't be opposed to more though, gunstar heroes is one of the better genesis games, and that console's heat!
The grand successor to the Outrun formula is Forza Horizon. Heck, in Horizon-4 they directly reference and pay homage to Outrun, Daytona, and Sega Rally (and feature the cars from all of them). The game is essentially an open world for driving almost any enthusiast car...not just overpriced bougie Italian ones. Racing when you want, and multi-player when you want.
Such a great idea for a video and now I want some of these too

I want Space Harrier to get an arcade mode and story mode.
I've only ever played Space Harrier while passing time in Shenmue.
I would like to see Valkyria Chronicles start getting some proper attention, but I'm worried they only made VC4 good enough to recoup losses from Valkyria Revolution, and now they want nothing to do with the series again.
Yeah the way they treat Valkyria Chronicles, or rather don't... Really treat it at all is odd especially after 4 was a pretty nice success eventually. Granted there was loads of DLC for 4 and you can buy it and the remaster of 1 bundled. But no localization of 3? No port of it and 2? Not even any out of series acknowledgement from what I've seen. I only heard of the series myself last year and am a big fan now but I hope we get more. It's good that they still put it on sales and stuff but I hope this isn't it in general. My only thing i can understand is maybe not wanting to keep staying in EWII for the story but try to move forward in a way thats way better than 2 did. Cause i think after covering the Federation's POV, they got any extra avenues for that war covered aside from maybe playing as the Empire itself lol.
A 20 minute video about classic Sega without mentioning Shinobi is like discussing classic automobiles and leaving out Pontiac or talking classic Nintendo and leaving out Kid Icarus like what? lol. Jokes aside and in particular though if Shinobi were brought back I'd like to see an expansion or continuation of the Game Gear Shinobi releases. Though both games were short handheld spinoffs they had so much replayability and exploration that fit well into the Shinobi lore/gameplay. Take the mechanics of Shinobi 3 with the metroidvania style of GG Shinobi and I'd say that's a touchdown easily.
That's exactly what I've been wishing for too. :D I've thought for a long time that I'd love to see Sega go for a big story-driven single player Phantasy Star action RPG using PSO2 mechanics. I think it'd be so damn cool. Just make one of the characters a Phantom class and you'll sell people on it immediately. XD
I want to see this because they really haven't been doing anything with story recently and I'm sad about that. I'm concerned they may be trying to accommodate players that just 'hate' anything to do with story, because you have to play through it in NGS. If so, I'd REALLY rather they just go back to letting it be separate so they can actually get some breathing room and write something. The setup has too much potential, and I know from the Base PSO2 story (ep. 1-3 in particular) that they can write really well when they try. That story is what got me thinking I'd get this as a single player RPG.
Beside that though, the atmosphere of the areas is wonderful and the music is STILL unbelievably good and there are some sick battles. (The featured boss of the latest update has NO story, but is like the coolest fight in the game so far.) It's too good to not have any real story. I don't really know if they'll be able to get NGS to stop feeling rushed, but to be fair, such a story is staggeringly common in the MMO field. They're trying new things each time at least.
The whole thing really has me looking forward to Star Ocean: The Divine Force, since it's pretty inspired by NGS. Hope to see more of that soon. :D
The Genesis wave of the Revolution?. A lot of great picks that I really want to see too. Crazy Taxi Mania would be amazing to see & when I heard you mention guest characters I was thinking it would be cool to pick up guest passengers like Sonic or Alex Kidd & take them to their destinations. JSRF & the other Xbox exclusives need to be ported to other consoles.
yooooo picking up guest characters as passengers would be a really cool detail. i'd like for both drivers and passengers to have guest characters for the most chaotic roster in a chaotic game series

As for my own suggestions, how about Alisia Dragoon? There's so much untapped potential with that game that's just begging to be expanded upon! I've also been curious what an Ecco the Dolphin reboot would look like. There aren't a lot of underwater Metroidvanias, just saying, Sega~

I have been craving a new JSR for fucking YEARS!!!! Future was one of my big nostalgia games having grown up with one of those combo discs that had both it & Sega GT on it & it's a crying shame that music licensing (some of Future's songs were done by a label run by the Beastie Boys that shortly went under after the game's release so good luck finding out who the fuck actually owns those tracks) is basically the only thing preventing us from getting it rereleased. Still holding out hope for at least a sequel.

Phantasy Star's classic games have been carried on by a few groups of fans. There's a title called "Phantasy Star 20 Years Later" that I could recommend to you... 1 year later
Seeinf this video in my feed after that SEGA reveal with all the old game-revivals... it's not all I wanted, but I'm certainly more hopeful now! Except for their sibgle-player RPG's like Shining, Phantasy Star and Skies of Arcadia. Alas, I fear that now when they have Atlus they will just let those guys make RPG's and forget their own history.
Sega should bring back Altered Beast.

Truly. Shinobi and Virtua Fighter are the ones that really needs to continue no matter what. Very doubtful people will be into stuff like Crazy Taxi in 2023 actually.

Alright some of them do look cool but reviving certains series who are basically niche at this point is everything but a safe bet for Sega, i agree with the sentiment that it'd be neat for them to bring back the old classics stucks on consoles, i don't think the upgrade in quality would kill them but a full follow up/remake for some of those titles is just...uhh yeah that's asking for a Crash 4 redo and i don't think Sega has the money for that seeing as they sold their arcades business late last year or early this year nor would they be open for risky ideas.
