He once served as a professor at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music in China. He debuted in 1972 & passed away on 8 Oct 2023 at the age of 74. His singing was at its best about 40 years ago, & I had seen 3 yt videos of his performances of this song when he wasn't that young anymore but still sounded great.

This vocal velvet, this accomplished art of traditional song... this singer is one of the most perfect representatives of Chinese culture (like Li Yu Gang, Huo Zun or Gong Lin Na, etc.). You absolutely have to see his duets with A Yun Ga, and in particular their "Pearl curtain": ua-cam.com/video/kvnlDBh5aRw/v-deo.html IMO, one of the most beautiful duets A Yun Ga has ever participated in.
I enjoyed Fei Yu Qing very much in the Our Song competition. If I remember correctly, he and his "student" were the winners. But his "note taking" was the best
