Pretty cool, not one of the best battles I've seen but it was interesting to watch. Remind has good style, but I enjoyed Hong 10's bboying better, just a personal preference I suppose. Hong 10 seems shy when he's not dancing. For example when he was given the mic at the beginning. Just an observation.
He is pro, and has been pro longer than Hong10, and was one of the seven gems of Rocksteady crew. His crew won Battle of the year a long time ago, and has been doing it in an earlier age, before things like triple airtracks, and airchairs, were invented or made big.
I think it was BOTY 97 that Remind's crew won, and which Lords of the floor did he win? Him and Crumbs got third place in 2001's event with Rodney Ruen and Caveman taking first, and in 2002's Lord's, Him and Crumbs got eliminated in the first round by Iron Monkey and Eric. Those were I recall the only Lords of the floors events.
Moy grabs the foot but doesn't throw it in to a flare, but he throws it in to a freeze that looks like the front part of the flare, except with one arm in front instead of behind, and he holds it as a freeze. Hong10 throws his leg not in to a freeze, but a straight up motion of a flare without the arm landing in front like a half spider move. So it might've been influenced by Moy, but Hong10 definitely flipped it, which isn't biting, it's innovating.
Remind was at his peak in this time period, but not on this day. He was not in good condition and had a heart attack after from what I heard, but it sounds like it could be just a crazy rumor.
I'd say Remind had more style and character than Hong10, although Hong10 had more of the moves and alot of creativity. Man we always get caught in this situation everytime we battle at session! Very tough decision on who wins, but as Remind said, we're all equal, no one's better than anyone else. I'll definately keep that in mind..
when I Get older.. is very very hard to put soul into a dance moves... Hong 10 is like a robot... power set are good for show and to be like damn! but when you get older... dancing with soul is one of the best elements...creative and 100% you!!!
If it wasn't for Remind, people like Hong10 wouldn't be the best, the majority of new school bboys learned from Remind, Ivan, Kmel, and the old rocksteady, etc.
I think Remind got freaked out because Hong10 kept holding him lol. It's because in Korea, in comparison to the West, it's okay to be more touchy between guys, but it's not seen as gay in Korea, but as brotherly. But that's where the culture clash happens.
watch lotr 2001 style elements vs boogie brats and then think about either remind is sloppy or not. Remind is one of legends of bboying in west coast along with his crew Style Elements/Killafornia.
Hong 10 has the illest combos I've ever seen!! And remind has so much soul it makes you want to get up and dance! Definitely 2 inspirational young men.
My boss here in Korea is 42, and was breaking when he was 20, which means he was breaking in Korea way before STyle elements as a crew was even around. You're right, SEC helped bring more focus on foundation, but bboying was here in Korea since the 80's.
be a bboy when you don't know the arsenal and performance strength and level of a top bboy who influenced the entire world? You're not a bboy, you're just a guy who watches internet videos.
This clip was from 2002 or 2003 and is in the Expressions video, and he was still up to par in that year, it was only in this battle that he looked heavy, and I heard it might have been because he got a heart attack right after. If you're about to have a heart attack, and an attack is starting, and you can still bboy for about ten rounds like REmind did here, dang!!! Yeah, he's still up to par, it was just this particular battle that he looked heavy
Like what Remind said: "No one is better than the other. Everyone is equal." Mad props to both Remind and Hong 10. Especially to Remind (no offense to Hong 10) though. Homeboy's a legend... -Jay Moua
Korean culture, doesn't get all homophobic with gay thoughts going through their head, just because two guys share a long hug, or even hold hands. Different culture, the west, and the east.
well I give em both credit but hong 10 was cleaner in his sets. They both danced but remind danced better but he messed up a few times. He Fell out of some freezes, so in my opinion I'd give it to hong 10.
Damn i still have both S.E.C. And expressions videos on VHS. I remember telling the whole crew like yo you have to see this insane korean crew and we all cut school to watch the videos at my house XD
Questionable. I'd say Hong 10 put it out there, and as good as he is now, 6 years later, he could probably beat Remind. But it definitely wouldn't be because Remind doesn't "express his style" or because he's sloppy. If anything, those are his strengths. Yes its possible that Hong 10 could win, but there's no way anyone can say its cause Remind doesn't express his style.
they don't double each other, taiyou doubles remind, because taiyou bites remind's style, and even moves/freezes. The two hand handstand, where you swing your head in a circle. That's always been Remind's, no one else has done it, until taiyou the biter who even wears Remind' style of clothing, did it.
Another Korean culture thing, when you're on tv, or speaking, to be really humble, and not to really show your personality too out there, and you have to speak formally, with a very polite nature. It's not that he's necessarily shy with people, it's Korean culture.
Wasted him here in flexibility, and strength, not in dancing, bboying is dancing. If this was a yoga challenge, then you're correct, but it's not, it's a bboy battle. Hong10 IS a dope bboy and dancer, I'm just saying, you're judging by non-bboy standards, it's like if Michael Jordan busted a spinning slam dunk, and someone says, "man, that ballet move was wack."
wish I could have been a bboy in the days when you could just jam with soul and the crowd would support you...... Not that you should be performing for the crowd but because it shows what the majority of the community wants soul and creativity. now you have to do a shitload of air flares and chairs and flips and shit for a minimal response
You stated in your earlier comment, "im a bboy i think remind is sloppy" You did make that claim. And although you may have an opinion, it's not an informed one when you call someone who's been one of the main influences of cleanliness and style to the entire world of bboying, sloppy because of one battle you saw. The fact that this video is the only footage of Remind you've seen, is like a "basketball" player, not really knowing who Michael Jordan is.
Not a super pro level? Most of the moves or variations of them, that bboys do nowadays, Remind created bro. Remind is not aiming to do the most flexible airchairs, his aim, is what bboying was intended for, to ride the music.
The first song is Can't Stand It by James Brown. ua-cam.com/video/ByxZ_L6kBxc/v-deo.html

Remind killed the game! Unmistakeable style!
He is pro, and has been pro longer than Hong10, and was one of the seven gems of Rocksteady crew. His crew won Battle of the year a long time ago, and has been doing it in an earlier age, before things like triple airtracks, and airchairs, were invented or made big.
3:52 song?
Its on one of the expression dvds, but i don't recall the name of the battle.
oh man...this battle was tight! remind was a huge influence to me when i was still hardcore into bboying. mad respect to remind and hong 10.
That was a sick battle! Awesome to see footage like this turn up years later.
this is 2002. From expression 2002 DVD
Any organizer would make this battle happen again by this year?
We need a crowd like this now days, New crowds these days understand just powers, this crowd knows flava and power.
Remind is from a different era but I feel the better all around bboy as Hong 10 still looks like a machine when dancing. Just my opinioin
I lyk how they smile after every round .. =D
I didn't notice that, you're right.
WOW never seen this before..this looks sickkkkkkk! remind is crazy but i like hong 10 better
Mighty ducks man eh? Thats tight cause I love the ducks.
wtf? these old bboys know how to move!
dammnn!!!

I love how the crowd just goes bonkers on Remind's first set rofl literally gives me chills whenever I hear it.
Moy grabs the foot but doesn't throw it in to a flare, but he throws it in to a freeze that looks like the front part of the flare, except with one arm in front instead of behind, and he holds it as a freeze. LMFAO He should have that juggernaut voice
fakey at 2.35 iz sick, remind all day

I'll definately keep that in mind..
what is the first and 2nd song?

Agree with you, I know you're talkin' bout Remind, He put his soul into dancing moves for 1000%!
Both those first rounds were insane. Remind probably dropped the sickest 1st round ive seen in a good year
Yeah anyone have the song that starts around 3:45?
If it wasn't for Remind, people like Hong10 wouldn't be the best, the majority of new school bboys learned from Remind, Ivan, Kmel, and the old rocksteady, etc.

anybody know the first song???
Remind reminds me a bit of Sonic from Natural effects
He said "Since I'm battling Remind, it's really an honor," and then gave the mic back to JohnJay of Circle of Fire.
oh shit old skool Remind mah man!!
Reminds first round gave me chills.
what is song 3:45 pleasee
i think hes been dancin longer...
most of the famous korean bboys dance since like 98 so 4 years, but its still incredible!
he used to b in expression bak then... man tht was long ago
This wasn't recent, it was back in 2002
wot year is this?
Hong 10 has the illest combos I've ever seen!! And remind has so much soul it makes you want to get up and dance! Definitely 2 inspirational young men.
hes wif drifters now

i love korean crowds. they always make the battle more fun.
My god.. he was like 17 at the time and
he seriously was still kicking major ass!!
What in the world...
LMAO damn hong 10 is the sht tho wassent he bboy of the year in 2002?
well since idk korean language but for me it seem like he was shy and didn't know what to say lol
be a bboy when you don't know the arsenal and performance strength and level of a top bboy who influenced the entire world? You're not a bboy, you're just a guy who watches internet videos.

2 different styles dude, Remind is one of those rare dudes who can take a fool out without any power
Remind é o Sonic?
i can see where you are coming from, but your tone sounds like youre hating on Taiyou.
The Dj is super funky and of course, the man himself. Remind...
Like what Remind said: "No one is better than the other. Everyone is equal." Mad props to both Remind and Hong 10. Especially to Remind (no offense to Hong 10) though. Homeboy's a legend...
-Jay Moua
jeez hong ten looks so young

Two totally different styles. Remind is more of an actual dancer. Hong vs. Crumbs would've been a better fit.
Damn i still have both S.E.C. And expressions videos on VHS. I remember telling the whole crew like yo you have to see this insane korean crew and we all cut school to watch the videos at my house XD
wow, this was when hong 10 was still on expression.
Wow this is old, Hong 10 is still with expression, lol so young. Good vibe with the battle.
Both very well respected b-boys!
Remind, you make me happy seriously!
St. Macarius taiyoi bites off him
remind was dope loooks like korea underestimated him
The sickest 1st round ive ever seen my remind
same here
Whoever is giving negative and hating comments you don't understand HIPHOP. You are on the wrong page. Peace.

Remind is sick, definitely underrrated!!!!!!!!!!!!
who won?
i think this is special exhibtion battle 2002 in seoul
remind reminds me of sonic and hong 10 looks weird.
lol he was like "uhhhh ummmm i dont know what to say, here take it back" lol
Damnnnn Remind SMOKE hong 10! you guys don't understand music, vibes and battle!! hong 10 was pure gymnastic
Remind.

Dang I never get to see my brother dance he hella good.
they don't double each other, taiyou doubles remind, because taiyou bites remind's style, and even moves/freezes. The two hand handstand, where you swing your head in a circle. Remind said, " We are all equal, we are all the same .. " ..
OneLove
this is the first time i saw Remind, but damn his toprocks look mad classy and he pulled off some dope sets
LMAO !
hype crowd..
hehehe so cute!! ^^
damn hong10 was all over remind hugging him after the battle like he didn't wanna let go haha. dope shit though.
Wasted him here in flexibility, and strength, not in dancing, bboying is dancing. If this was a yoga challenge, then you're correct, but it's not, it's a bboy battle. i say tie in terms of rounds. and if i had to pick it would be remind. too much character/rhythm/soul in his dancing.
@AshturaX lol yeah, he also reminds me of Taiyou
i think both remind and hong10 are respective and creative bboys. who won? who cares :D
remind.... inspiration
wish I could have been a bboy in the days when you could just jam with soul and the crowd would support you...... Not that you should be performing for the crowd but because it shows what the majority of the community wants soul and creativity. now you have to do a shitload of air flares and chairs and flips and shit for a minimal response
right shoot if they went at it they would be like 5 tie breakers
You stated in your earlier comment,

@EdDy4RheelZ I actually think Remind killed it more in the LOTR battle against Havikoro, but still he ripped it in both haha
respect remindd!!! style elementz crew!!
since a years!!!
i find h10 flow is better in this video (not talkin bout tricks or power)
Not a super pro level? Most of the moves or variations of them, that bboys do nowadays, Remind created bro. Remind is not aiming to do the most flexible airchairs, his aim, is what bboying was intended for, to ride the music.
woww this is REALLY EARLY hong 10, he was nice even back then. remind is legendary and to hong 10 i guess thats like facing his idol and role model
