- INDIE animation is gaining so much acceptance! Animations like Lackadaisy, Hazbin Hotel, Ramshackle, Helluva Boss, The Amazing Digital Circus, have gained huge tractions amongst animation lovers. In this video we take a look at some awesome Indie animations, their renaissance, what they're doing better than Hollywood, Animators, Studios, Styles & Plot. The visuals, musicals and soundtracks like Klown B***h, Loser Baby, Poison etc. We present the facts behind the rising successes of Indie studios and animators like Vivsiepop, Glitch Studios, Goosworx, Spindlehorse, Vivienne Medrano, Zeddyzi from Ramshackle, Ashley Nichols, Tracy Butler, Michael Kovach, @ManuMercurial etc. All of whom contributed to the creation of fan favorite characters like Alastor, Angel Dust, Husker, Rocky, Pomni, Jax, Vaggie, Charlie etc. Hollywood's multiple flops, casting disappointments, bad writing & plots from big Studios like Disney flopping animations like "Wish", the MCU flop "The Marvels", She-Hulk, Secret Invasion et.al. It's true! A lot of big projects from big studios keep getting rushed out to fill some requiered slot on a timetable. I would much rather have a show release one really good episode per year than 20 subpar ones.

Tbh murder drone's writing is kinda bad. I tried watching it and couldn't get over the MC saying "bite me" every 5 seconds and also they did mention murder drones in 5:47

A great indie animated show that not many people talk about outside of ‘cool undertale show’ Is Underverse, which is not only written and animated by one person, the audio and soundtrack made by one other person, but is also one of the best animated best written shows I’ve ever seen. (The first few episodes aren’t too good, it’s really 0.3 where the story begins to get really good and 0.4 where the animation starts to begin to really stand out.)

The big problem with other shows is that stuff such as Disney cancelling The Owl House happens, and that causes a lot of hate towards Disney from the fans. Indie hasn’t really let us down like that yet
Long Gone Gulch is another great indie. It's a supernatural Western. Tonally, and in pacing, it feels like the cartoons from the 2000s. Fast, quirky, energetic, funny, and very entertaining to watch. The women that voices Buttercup, even voices one of the main characters. While the music is done by Kreeps (RD 1 & 2).

A show that came out before the big blow-up of indie was poor My Pride. It has gone so unnoticed in all this praise, and the creator was on the verge of a mental health crisis by the time the first season finished 😭
The only way that Hollywood make so many bad flops but one person made indie animation for having a good choice was so badass. I hope Hollywood would have a battle with indie animation🔥

I remember seeing the pilot 7 years ago and I’m so happy I get to enjoy it today!
Hollywood’s problem is that corporate is sticking their noses where it doesn’t belong. They need to leave the artists alone and let them go crazy. Kung Fu Panda 4 is proof of that. Corporate thinks rushing the artists and putting limits is a good idea. They are morons. The Indie stuff is top tier because the artists have no restrictions. No deadlines. Fans are willing to pay for quality AND wait for it. Hazbin Hotel was a four year wait and as expected…. that show blow the roof off. Give the artists time and spaceand they WILL deliver.
The gaming sphere is in a similar boat. Indie gaming is just as strong as its always been. With no signs of slowing down anytime soon. For anyone besides Nintendo, AAA gaming is crashing and burning. Development costs are getting higher, development time is taking longer, and the prices are getting more and more expensive. And when a single game doesn't meet expectations, the higher ups get golden parachutes while hundreds of their devs are laid off.
If you want a good indie animation experience, you must try object shows like BFDI or Animatic Battle

Murder Drones and Helluva Boss are my two favorite. But Ramshackle is pretty good so far (the pilot is out now)
Indie animation and videos games are amazing
Another great indie series would be "Vampair" by Daria Cohen. Even if the show dosent have real voice acting, and instead uses already existing songs such as The night by Voltaire, it is still able to tell the story trough stunning animations. As a long time fan of the series Im really proud to see how far it had gone, since it's all made by only one person, and i 100% think it deserves more attention.
Great video, I've been loving the rise of indie animation and hate to see people bashing on it just because it stays on youtube instead of on bigger streaming services.

Pretty nice little video. I know of a few indie animations myself that could use some more love. Of course most people here know about Monkey Wrench and Murder drones, but besides that the first one I really reccomend is Tales of Zale by Sif Savery.
They have a few shorts but the latest one, "Flickering Lights" was in the works for 3 years and is absolutely beautiful and works standalone as well. And like Viv with Hazbin Hotel, Sif is currently working with a broadcaster to get it turned into a full series for TV and streaming. Heck Viv is a pretty notable fan of Tales of Zale herself, she has praised it a few times on twitter and you often find Tales of Zale stuff liked by her.
Aside from that theres also Sublo and Tangy Mustard by Aaron Long, who has actually worked on both Bojack Horseman and Tuca & Bertie. This is really one of the OGs and most underrated indie shows.
Hugos mind palace is also a pretty neat little production.
One I havent gotten around to yet is Spooky Month by Sr Pelo.
And as for future productions, one of the big ones Im lookong forward to is "The lovers" by the Philippino indie studio "Studio Heartbreak".

Honestly indie I would say has been cooking things since at the very least 2016 (when wolf song the movie came out (yeah its not as well known as the others but the fact that a single person wrote and did 99% of the animation of a full length animated film with a proper storyline, good soundtrack and characters that for the most part don’t seem like they were plonked in there for the sake of it and are actual characters rather than mere plot devices. It’s no where near perfect, but it’s still better than what modern studios seem to be pumping out these days))
you didn't mention monkey wrench. it's a small indie show about 2 alien mercenaries trying their best to make money and usually failing spectacularly. they've got a whopping 3 episodes so far, and I think they even got Gooseworx to help them with not only the soundtrack, but voicing one of the characters that appear in episode 3. there's also a cast of characters that reappear in later episodes often, which leads me to assume they're somewhat relevant to the plot. there's also a lot of worldbuilding that happens in the show too. I seriously recommend giving it a watch.
I do want to make my own Indie show actually! I have some good character designs and story ideas so far, but it will likely be years before anyone could see even a glimpse of a thesis film for what I'm working on 😕

I have a plan to make my own indie show actually! I'm really proud of the character designs and plot ideas I've made so far, but it will likely be years before anyone sees even a glimpse of a thesis film/pilot and what I'm working on😕
Monkey wrench has to be one of my favorites
man i would write an entire essay on the state of the animation industry atm in both the good and bad aspects. i recently realised that the reason why ive been so into indie animation is because the amount of good stuff that the industry has been making hasnt been enough to feed my hunger for good content. like yes theres across the spiderverse which is so high quality and creative that it brings a tear to my eye, and theres also nimona that released soon thereafter and then TMNT in august. but when was all that released? last year? yeah. and i havent seen another new and innovative movie since. its all cash grabs, sequals, and just uncreative woke junk (woke as in they try to appeal to minority audiences but its just completely souless). the only movie thats releasing this year that i have high hopes for is the wild robot, maybe inside out 2 (not sure) and sonic 3.
but then we go over to the indie scene, theres the main shows that are paving the path for creators to make their mark like The Amazing Digital circus, Murder Drones, Monkey Wrench, Hazbin Hotel, Helluva Boss and Lackadaisy. but then theres smaller shows that may not even be pilots yet like Ramshackle, Atlas and the Stars, Heathens (which so far is just a trailer), port by the sea, spooky month (this is going to go for a while these are literally all the shows i know), Satina, Hidari, Far Fetched, The Lover, and Godspeed (i seriously recommend atlas and the stars and godspeed).

4:12 I mean, it's hard to be involved in your fanbase as a billion dollar company than as an Indie animator. Yes, they did take action on a father's request to put Spider-Man on his dead son's grave but Wish didn't have anything to do with their fans. In fact, the main reason it was mid was because of executive meddling (See the concept art for proof).
9:37 Why would a big production company like Illumination do a live stream about animating their next movie and risk spoilers? The closest they could do that is live panels about the process of animating their movies.

Yes I agree Hollywood is making making many flops year after year since the mid to late 2010s and I think they need to stop trying and give up and change they're occupation to something else but with indie animation on the rise and making wave after wave on UA-cam I believe that young artists like Viv and gooseworx and others are not relying on Hollywood anymore because of AI and lack of patience with big corporations like cartoon network and others people are just saying to heck with this will just move onto UA-cam and make our own shows and do what we want with it

And, on the topic of fanmade content, i highly recommend you check out Undertale Yellow. It is a full-length fan made Undertale prequel officially endorsed by Toby Fox himself. Although its debatable on whether or not it's canon. Its so good, it might as well be. Masterswordremix and their team caprured the source material to a T. They were competent enough to adapt. But talented enough to invent. In some ways, its even better than Under proper. They created a new narrative and characters that fit alongside the esusting lore so seamlessly its not funny. Which is exactly how id describe it. Because its IS funny. And equally heartwarming and heartbreaking. The passifist ending is one of only a few times i can think of where a game actually made me cry.

I like adaptations because it allows me as a gamer to share worlds that I love with friends who dont play videogames, but I dont think that thats how theyre being treated fan animations are way better

I wouldn’t consider Hazbin independent anymore. Even though they have creative freedom, they also have A24, Amazon, and an animation company owned by Fox doing things for the series.

Yeah, I believe being Freelance counts. You should share some of your works with animators and other indie studios, someone might be interested. Also, try putting up a snippet on UA-cam, Reddit and other platforms to reach a wider audience. Wish you the very best 😊

It was always cancelled but instead of completely stopping, Disney gave it 3 final episodes to wrap the show up. It’s better than a full on cancellation, but it still sucks that it had to end so abruptly.
It didn’t really get “canceled” the way cancellation usually works.
For most shows, when they get canceled, they’re ended prematurely with no official send off.
For TOH, it was shortened to 2 seasons and three 45m-1hr long episodes and had a proper send off.
Not indie animation: build it in minecraft, indie animation: go to bad piggies get some parts that are detachable and at a bomb, also add a plane for an air bomber and there ya go! Bomb your enemy even though there is no enemys, well now you got a bomb dropper so fuck off, (i make comics so i think i should add that line
