Kitchen styling is all about form and function. We're sharing a few of our go-to tips for creating a useful space that looks great too! We cover counters, the island, stove area, sink, and even how to tackle open shelves.

love this! it's aesthetic and functional. however, I have lots of appliances and other things that typically take up counter space (kitchen aid, espresso machine, toaster oven, knife block)... do you have advice on how to best utilize space for these?

Psst. I have a teeny, tiny kitchen, and I don’t have room for all the stuff you put on the counter. So, I won’t be putting all the cutting boards, cook books, trays, bread box, cake stand, recipe box, loose paper holder, etc. I have the absolute minimum: a beautiful red toaster, six small oil bottles that I use for cooking, two utensil holders (one larger and one smaller), my salt shaker, pepper mill, three small cookie jars, and behind them a very small wooden cutting board. At the other side of the sink, I have a very narrow soap dispenser, a small water carafe with a small glass over it, a narrow coaster holder, and finally my paper towel holder. On my island, I use a lazy Susan for my other essentials. I do have a beautiful orchid which I interchange. If I had more room, I’d still want to have the minimum amount of stuff on my counters. Perhaps you can take into consideration that not all of us have huge counters or huge kitchens and give suggestions.
I love your style... When we buy our dream house I will love to have you design it!! I believe soon we will be blessed with our dream home.. I have my husband and two girls watching all your videos lol. Keep them coming lol. God Bless

I remodel my kitchen and did not do upper cabinets. I cannot figure out if I should tile whole wall, no tile etc.. can you do ideas with no upper cabinets. And with no shelves as I have so much lower storage I do not need shelves..

Nononono. The 60 lemons are important.
I keep an ikea roller cart in my panty/storage closet where I store my most used electronics like coffee pot, instant pot, toaster etc. then you can just keep the pretty things out on the counter tops
Good point. It looks pretty but is not realistic for most people. I also think that there are things that are not needed on that counter. I prefer a more minimalist approach.

OK! I love everything about this and I've picked up so many jewels---but I've got a question. Where is the dish drain? Are people immediately washing their dishes & transferring them into the cabinet? Are they stored in the dishwasher? Please share!

Hello, Paola! I can’t answer for the designer, but in my home we use doubles for two reasons: (1) When we’re hand-washing dishes, one side has the soapy water for washing, while the other has clean water for rinsing, and (2) when we’re washing produce, again, we wash the produce in the side with the soapy water, then dunk the produce in the side with clean water to rinse them. It’s just a way to cut down on water consumption by not constantly having water running. I hope that answers your question!

Where do you put your rice cooker, blender, kettle, microwave, etc... (all those high tech but ugly applicances). Put them away would be impractical since I use them almost every day. My benchtop is always so clutter because of them
Thao Nguyen Some people stash them in cabinets or appliance “garages” in between uses. But if you use them every day, I suppose you have no reason to do that. Also, I think the point of the video was how to “style” a kitchen for every day use than it was how to “stage” a kitchen for home showings or pictures, like a designer would do. But I could be wrong about that.
I have a friend who has this type of style kitchen. And yes, she's an interior designer. Everything is nice and clean. Next time I am going to ask her where is all that stuff as I am really tired of the clutter on our countertops. 😁

No one in their right mind would decorate with cutting boards on the back of a stove-top or put items by it that would gather splatter from grease while cooking. Not a fan of shelves for putting plates on; anything not used regularly would need to be washed before used due to the dust. Too much in the way of items makes the area look smaller. No Toaster, blender, or other type of kitchen gadgets on counter - I didn't see any appliance garage cabinets.
