These HOTD Reviews are Hilarious

- There's surprisingly a lot of negative user reviews of House of the Dragon on IMDB. So for this video I'm reacting to some of the most controversial opinions regarding HOTD and losing my mind in the process. Apparently, nothing can touch the magnum opus that is Game of Thrones to the point that people needlessly trash other shows in the same universe.

Terrible acting? Terrible CGI? Bruh. I sometimes forget that Vizzy T isn't actually rotting away. And Vhagar looks so real, I keep forgetting she isn't flying around in the UK.
Caraxys looked effing fantastic
The deer were really bad in ep 3 tbf but everything else is fantastic
Vizzy T lmao. I just love this nickname.
Well, she isn't flying around, but I'm pretty sure she's curled up in a castle courtyard somewhere. Soaking up that... err... rain.
I like that all the dragons have the coolest little clicks and whoops but Vhagar just roars JUST like an old angry grandma dragon would.
I actually think I've lost brain cells from hearing the reasons why people don't like HotD
I almost lost brain cells watching She-Hulk. Thank god HOTD was airing right alongside it. It saved me.
@@GabesEdtiz She-Hulk was easily the worst show I've ever watched
@@jacobseed2123 For me RIngs Of Power wins the top spot in that category.
@@MasterOfTheElements I haven't even bothered to watch it
The first 2 episodes of hotd are legitimately terrible.
It's not really wrong to say that HotD is a soap opera or a telenovela. It's just a really good one.
That is kinda the secret ingredient of GoT. It really is a soap opera packaged as a fantasy. The best strengths of the shows is good characters and intrigue.
The tits and dragons crowd just want to see action like the show is a war movie.
I think the differecnce would be the cinematography, soundtrack and maybe the acting.
@@sumthingnvm0 That said, I would 100% watch a low-budget telenovela remake of Game of Thrones. The time they adapted Breaking Bad into a telenovela was incredible.
Lmao it truly is a telenovela tbh
If you compare it to most TV shows, it is good. If you compare it to Game of Thrones, it is absolute trash.
The girl boss comment is so stupid. HotD knows exactly how to make a strong female character because it shows why she is strong as opposed to telling us
That was a comment straight out of "anti-woke" Twitter if I've ever seen one.
Hotd is woke af. Read the books, they're better. No race swapping in the books
@@rektz2457 no “race swapping” in the show either. Only the dragon lords of Old Valyria were described as having pale skin, and House Velaryon was not one of those houses. Also it’s entirely possible that Corlys had ancestors from the Summer Isles, which are located near the Valyrian Freehold.
And she's capable of emotions other than petulant rage, and "Ima tell you why I'm better than you." She's a rounded character who's strong without having to try and one-up every man around her. She's a woman with a uterus of steel, who's sexually liberated, gives birth like a MFing boss, has a brain in her head, has been bonded to a dragon for longer than Daenerys was alive, and can take her arm being sliced open to the bone without blinking. The battles and swordplay she leaves to the men who follow and serve her, like her husband.
@@dmgroberts5471 "uterus of steel" 😭
I think people don’t realize that watching shows/movies is actually a skill. The more you watch, the more you develop your skill and start to understand why something is good or bad. I think there’s a shit ton of people who don’t really sit down and ‘watch’ things, so they don’t fully understand whatever it is they review.
@@cee_jay_mcc7914 my sister and I watch a shit ton of tv and recommend shows to each other. We have two categories. One you watch while you’re working and ones you actually need to pay full attention.
@@cee_jay_mcc7914 absolutely, overall it really is a 6-6.5/10. The best season out of twd I consider is season 1 which i say is a 8/10 bc of how great frank darabont was at writing the beginning. You should see what a lot of ppl say on tik tok. I’ve seen ppl call it best show oat💀
Yeah especially for those who overpraise things like the walking dead for example like it’s a 10/10 show when in comparison to GoT s1-4; it’s not nearly as good. Also ppl should just enjoy any show & stop getting a superiority complex ab the ones they enjoy. If it’s a fun show who cares if it’s not a perfect masterpiece. & if it is a great show; it doesn’t have to be your favorite. I rank shows in 2 categories, enjoyability & objective quality.
I couldn't have said it better. I think everybody should firstly watch top 50 or so movies. That way you get a picture what the best movies are and actually tell whether a movie is good or not.
This is why I always look for a CinemaSins and CinemaWins video after I watch a movie. At first, I thought I was ruining my watching experience by knowing too much. Then I realized "Oh I'm just watching bad movies" lol
House of the dragon has had some of the BEST acting ever seen
Period 🤌🏼
Yes! Especially Paddy Considine. He nailed it especially when you see that he was heartbroken that his family was tearing apart towards the end.
Amond the male actors it's Paddy, Matt Smith and Rhys Ifans, I can't even rank them
Among the female actors it's Emma and Emily for me
@@Darkstar_Dayne Emma’s non-binary, but yeah, there’s a reason they’re nominated for a golden globe.
what a joke
My ONLY complaints with the show are that there are some characters that I felt don't get enough screen time, and it sometimes felt like the plot suffered because of the timeskips. That's about it. - It's amazing how similar HoTD is to season 1 of GOT. Really captured it's essence, I feel.
Laena Velaryon, Harwin strong, and maybe Rhea Rhoyce
@@sanjaykarthicks1226 Rhea royce literally has one purpose and its dying
@@WizardofGargalondese still Rhea Royce could've got more scenes so her death would've had more impact
I found it extremely boring until the last 3 episodes or so but than I realized of course the first season is going to be boring due to it setting up the intire story for the rest of the show, if we didn't get these boring scenes at the start the tragic/triumphant scenes wouldn't carry any weight and the last episode really showed me that they're extremely capable of making those tense jaw dropping scenes

I want to recap everything you need to understand about the quality of HOTD: It's a series full of CGI Dragons, Battles and Boobs, and still the best scene is an old man crossing an hall and climbing some stairs helped by his brother.
That's speaks volume about what made this series memorable.
bad take. the last supper is a better scene than the throne walk - until viserys leaves, then it kinda sucks because the young generation of targaryens are a weak spot of the series.
F*ck yeah. Wasn't particularly fond of viserys till that point, but he clearly exhibited peak dad energy in that scene.
@@Ass_of_Amalek you missed the point of my comment which was a sarcastic take on all the stupid reviews.
This series was, photography and cinematography wise, very rich but still the best scenes, the ones people remember the most, are not the ones with dragons or great battles (which are still great in their own right), but the ones as simple as watching a man walking a room for 4 minutes, because the screenplay was just that good.
@@NekoHibaCosplay nonetheless a bad take
@@Ass_of_Amalek how? You both have basically the same take, except you find a different but similar scene to be better.
I'm sure that IMDB being owned by Amazon is just a coincidence!
I bet all of those same people, or, same *accounts* I should say, gave raving reviews for Rings of Power, which is also surely just a coincidence!
Wrote the comment pretty early on in the video... The fact that they all said the same "soap opera" type stuff just furthers my opinion that at least some of that is Amazon bots..
You can see the reviews these "people" are giving. I scrolled through some of them til I got bored but they definitely looked sus.
lol, House of Dragons has a 8.5 on imdb and Rings of Power has a 6.9
Sometimes people just don't like things, it's not some vast conspiracy.
Agreed. IMDb has ceased to be a reliable site for reviews, and Rotten Tomatoes isn't much better. Professional critics too often have vested interests while viewer reviews are prone to either bombing/brigading or suspicious shilling. The IMDb debacle involving Rings of Power reviews being heavily manipulated, with countless negative reviews actually being removed or blocked and positive reviews apparently copied and pasted amongst numerous accounts, largely ended it's role as being any kind of valid guide to public opinion of shows and movies. With HotD positioned as a 'rival' show (even though they are barely alike beyond being 'fantasy' genre) it's not unrealistic to suspect that Amazon would attempt to turn viewers away from it though fabricated negative reviews. IMDb does at least still have value when searching for such things as actor/ess portfolios, but sadly that's about it.
@@TheAntiSanta completely besides the point.

I just wish we got less major time jumps. We needed an episode between 5 and 6,for sure. Otherwise, I absolutely loved this show and having your thoughts on them every week was really fun.
I'm still angry that Paddy Considine gets snubbed by the Critics Choice Awards and the Golden Globes.
Obviously those awards are more a popularity contest than actually about serious acting.
This is why I can't professional critics seriously anymore. 🙄🙄
“Dragons are so yesterday”
Bro dragons have been popular throughout most of known human history wdym, they’re practically time;essvyou buffoom
Those critics are laughable
They’re user reviews
At first I was curious why the Velaryons would be black but it only last about 2 seconds. If they looked like Targaryens, the show would get really confusing really quickly. There needed to be a way to separate them but still show the bond between the houses. Making them black was a stroke of genius. Though you have to wonder how they stayed that black for so many generations since there aren't really a lot of them. And the wigs for the Velaryons at first looked bad but it grew on me.
they have a big stake across the narrow see
I thought that too, that making the two families quite physically distinct but both still "Valyrian" does a lot of work. Really beats everyone over the head about Rhaenyra's kids, for one thing.
I don't understand. Some people say HOTD is bad but praise GoT Season 7.
that’s action fans for you. all style, no substance.
What are you talking about? People hated season 7 and 8
@@poisonpotato1 SOME people liked season 7. Of course there were a lot who hated it.
I loved the person who said that Daemon is unconvincing as a villain. Like thats the point buster!
Honestly I just dont find any of the actors as charismatic as the original cast. Matt Smith is good here but othe rthan that Im not drawn immediately like we were with Peter Dinklage, Sean Bean, Mark Addy as Bobby B, Rory McCann are all miles above this cast. Again this is all opinion. I dont care how well written the people are I still want actors that really do it for me. Oh yeah I am so not into the concept of incest that it pulls me away and I dont like anything in the medical field so watching a character fall apart makes me more sick than anything. Just my opinion about why this series is less interesting than the original GOT
Only complaint is that I feel like they had enough material to do the first season without time jumps meaning they could have switched the actors between seasons which is less confusing to people but that’s really just a nitpick. Those who complained about this seemed to also want a faster pace so that feels like a contradiction. Also those who didn’t like the dialogue scenes are probably too stupid to understand how good it is.
The same people: OMG Rings of Power is the best!!
Can't believe Paddy wasn't nominated for Golden Globes but Jeff from The Old Man was....
When a person says "it's so boring they're just talking" they're really outing themselves as neanderthals 🤡
I bet 90% of these people have HOTD playing in the background whilst they are on their phones checking out Facebook....
No, disagree. Compared to GoT S1, HotD's writing is so lacklustre and disappointing, these reviews may be stupid but there are definetely legitimate reasons out there to dislike HotD. The best example of bad writing on HotD is how they botched Criston Cole; he was supposed to be this incredible badass swordsman - who decisively defeats both Daemon and Harwin is single combat -, acts as a father figure to Alicents children and becomes a major political player in the Dance of Dragons. In HotD we barely see any of that.
One minute? Sir, I do not have much of an issue with HotD BUT c'mon...one minute? There are several times throughout the show that were barely visible! I blame that on Miguel Sapochnick! Barely visible scenes seem to be his calling card and I'm over it!
I shouldn't have to keep adjusting my tablet bc he intended for the show to be watched on 4K and higher devices!!
People do realise that these reviews come from GoT fans right? Fans feeling so threatened that their original love might be topped that they have to cut it down by viewing HotD in the worst possible light. They believe GoT is perfect (the first few seasons anyway) and their sole basis on whether to judge something good or not is "is it like GoT?" You can just imagine how but-hurt they'd get if someone reviewed GoT with the same ridiculous high expectations and tore it down like they did with HotD. In reality, there's very little difference in the quality of GoT and HotD, if any.
i think we see what some people want with this critics, they don't want great dialogue or moraly complex caracter and conflicts, but just dragons and fights
These are the same people who jump into comments sections to fight about how GoT season 8 was really good, actually.
""2/10 where's the dragons? too much talk, i wanna flames"" :3
I definitely don't think the show is perfect at all and I have my own issues with it but these reviews are LOL
They're so used to hating the mediocre-at-best shit that gets pumped out that they can't fathom liking something actually good.
Then again, many of those reviewers think GoT season 8 is a masterpiece...
the dudes wanting longer fights with more big CGI looooved the last 2 seasons.
its almost as if the first season is just there to set the scene for dance of the dragons
I mean HOTD is not bad at all but I actually believe that is not that good compared to GOT first 4 seasons. In quality it is really similar to season 5 to 6
Good comparison
daemon + otto is probably the best chemistry in all fantasy series lmao
Well, I respect their opinions, thought some of the criticism imply that the reviewer did not see a single episode... Some accusations are valid, most of them are simply and evidently false. But it's their miss :) Almost everyone I know had a great time watching it. I understand if dragons, politics and the fantasy-historical setting isn't for everybody, but I truly pity those who are missing out! I really loved the first season ☺️
I thought it was subpar for how it was advertised. It ultimately fell into the same traps as GoT s5-8 did, except that instead of 4 seasons, they did it after mere 4 episodes. Spectacle over substance. The characterisation is all over the place. There's too many timeskips in s1 and the way they are handled is rather messy. As a result the characters aren't properly developed along a clear trajectory, you're more of thrown into a new stage in their life without a clear trajectory between point A and B. They also skip over some of the minor events I actually wish we'd get to see. The world-building is not very well done (it mostly relies on you already knowing GoT), because most fans online still don't seem to understand the politics behind the conflict. That said, for a show about politics, there's really not enough of it; also not enough meaningful character interactions, not enough... anything really. Rhaenyra and Aegon, for one, haven't interacted all season even though the conflict is about them. I hope they'll improve upon it in s2, but they've already butchered some of the characters beyond repair, I'm afraid. It's not a bad show, but the writing is weak, and as a whole the show is carried by the strong performances alone. I'm not saying it's not enjoyable and that you shouldn't like it, ofc, but personally the show frustrated me because it had the potential to be so much better and anytime I rewatch it, it just becomes that much more glaring to me. A lot of people have been complaining that the show is slow, but in my opinion it should've been slower.
I believe most of these IMDB reviews are from people that haven't actually watched what they are reviewing. Just parroting what they read on some Twitter posts.
My major gripe is that I was excited to see characters like Ser Harwin “Breakbones” Strong, Lord Lionel Strong, and Laena and Vhagar. All the GOT UA-camrs were hyping them up so much, and they barely got any screen time. I watched hours worth of videos about each of them and Harwin & Laena barely got tens of minutes of screen time put together. I enjoyed watching videos about them more than actually seeing them on screen because in comparison the show was a letdown. Here’s a cool character! 10-20 mins later they’re dead. The multiple severely drastic time skips didn’t help with that at all. It’s going too fast and doesn’t feel like many of the characters got fleshed out because of it. Seems King Viscerys was the most developed character out of the bunch. The show is generally well done of course, but it just doesn’t give us enough time to develop a relationship with the characters that we were excited to see.
Either way, the more GRRM works on this show, the less likely we are to get The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring 🥲
Couldn’t agree more about how disappointed I am that we didn’t get more with those two! They make a HUGE DIFFERENCE in the lives of the main characters and seem incredibly interesting but…nope 😢
I call every single one of these reviews: "insert generic criticism here."
It's when people don't know what to say in a review and just use a common criticism that only vaguely, if at all, can be attributed to it.
An important note is that the quality of the work doesn't matter here, only that someone said this generic complaint about it because they don't have anything else to say.
In 1 season we have like 15 years of this family.... Is that not enough?
I imagine these are same type of people who unironically thinks Rings of Power is better than HotD
Exactly they seem to have no brain so they like braindead shows
Some decisions the characters made in the show were pretty stupid.
Alicent was legit pushing her son to take thrown and once it came time all of a sudden she had doubts? How?? She legit didn't let her daughter marry jace... and she was telling aegon rhaenyra will have him killed if she took the thrown... that's a clear cut way of saying he should take throne
The only thing i really didn't like is how kings, lords, princes and princesses often speak like modern edgy teenagers
Obviously IMDB owned by amazon and probably most of the low rating review from HOTD are either from their staff or trolls. Basically amazon wants to pulled down HOTD so the Rings of Power will get much more Good rating. But unfortunately it didnt work.
"I can do this type of video again"
No, please.😐
My brain trembles. 🧠💥
If I hear the word Soap Opera again for today I'll lose even more brain celles.
Most of these reviewers seems like people who either didn't like GOT to begin with, didn't watch all the episodes of HOTD, Rings of Power butthurt fans or people who think that season 6 of GOT was good sorely because of the braindead action.
And what is this about the casting and dull characters?
Every actor was memorable and fit right in the story as well or even a bit better then GOT season 1, the hell are they talking about?
It’s so review bombed because Amazon owns IMDb and rings of power has nothing but high reviews… sus
yeah so I watched the first episode and felt like they were mostly just ticking boxes off the list of things that were noteworthy in got. So I decided that it's not for me. Funnily enough I still didn't feel any urge to write a review.
Expensive opera a really fair adjective for Rings of Power thought
These reviews are actually spot on... I suppose there's just a really strong divide between audiences, almost we're watching 2 completely different shows
I have a firm belief that the same poeople posting these reviews are the ones rating the last 3 seasons of GoT as a 10/10
I've always said the same thing....
...the wigs are terrible
This goes to show that simply not everyone is equipped to be a critic.
Yo Supercuts, you watching the Glidus and Alt Swift X streams? Tune in, and maybe even come by as a special guest. Its like the best place to be on youtube atm

those people probably think that Rhaenys showing up on Meleys was the best scene
To quote my dad when he read a review in the paper shitting on Saving Private Ryan: “it’s not a hot take. It’s stupid.”
I’m curious to know what show these people were using for comparison
Honestly hotd is a bit overhyped. It is a solid 7.5/10, but not the masterpiece some people make it out or be. At least in my eyes it mostly has to do with the characters. I personally found almost no one likeable. There is a lack of impressive and complex characters with amazing lines like Tyrion, Tywin ,Little finger or Varys. Or likeable heroes you root for like Ned ,Rob or Jon. No intriguing romance yet either. There are some good hateable villains ,but they go unpunished so far (like the brother of Viserys after he murdered his wife). Other than the characters everything else is amazing. The characters are at least okay, I just don't find any of them likeable or intriguing yet. 7.5/10
Paddy Considine should have been nominated
Man did these people watch the same show as me? A lot of these points seem like massive fabrications of what actually happened and just people grabbing at straws in order to find something to hate about the show. I swear, the latter seasons of Game of Thrones have poisoned these people's minds to make them believe that if there is not a battle sequence every 5 seconds, then it's boring. You need good dialogue scenes in order to make conflicts work.
Are they paid to criticize? Coz some of em sounds like they didn't even watch the show haha
Matt smith is not as known as Sean Bean. Doctor who is pretty niche outside the UK. And that's coming from a doctor who fan. And Morbius is probably one of the worst parts of his career you could've picked. Everyone knows the movie but nobody watched it. That movie was a massive failure.
They say soap opera like it’s a bad thing, I loved Keeping Up with the Targaryens. It’s drama _with_ a plot. And in this they get to stab each other! What’s there to complain about?!
The characters are far less likeable and interesting then GOT season 1.
my conclusion is that these bad reviews, are just people that dont want to have to think in the slightest about what they're watching and how every scene has importance in current and later episodes...
Sans the time jumps-the scenes with the least amount of dialogue and deliberately slow paced are the most dramatic scenes in HOTD ie Daemon receives a message from Viserys while at the step stones then decides to play the ruse to kill the crab feeder
Only complaint is Reynes refusing to kill all her enemies because "it wasn't my war to start" but is perfectly cool with murdering the dozens or hundred plus that died for her dramatic escape
Yeah. I love HOTD, but the writing sometimes wasn't that good
Yeah that’s my biggest story complaint too. Another valid criticism is the opening visual isn’t that great. It accurately conveys the theme of bloodlines, but it’s hard to identify the little differences from week to week
*Rhaenys
@Jailow stop defending bad writing
@Jailow “actually the reason was perfectly clear”
her reason is “not my war”, her husband said the same thing “we’ll side with no one”. Then she says “our grandchildren will never be safe”. Idk maybe I’m missing something.
Why would kinslaying matter if the next day she sided with team black and claimed her family would never be safe? Plus the fact civil war is about to begin? She’s either an incredibly stupid character which she isn’t or the writing was bad.
It’s a difficult one. The intellectual substance of HOTD doesn’t come close to the first four seasons of GOT but we must remember that the viewership of those first seasons of GOT weren’t as high as the later seasons (perhaps due to it still finding its feet and the epic visual set pieces later on in the series) so the show runners had the tough task of trying to find that sweet spot of character chemistry/integrity/substance as well as providing the on screen epic visuals. This is an almost impossible task with the limited time frame of each episode,
We have to look at each episode as a whole and appreciate what they are trying to do: Please the higher IQ fans of the show but also the general public. This has to inevitably amount to some kind of compromise.
I love shows like this and will always encourage creators to keep making them and thus improve their skills and craft as the series goes on.
This was a strong start, and I’m very hopeful that it will get better and better.
The people writing these reviews simply didn’t pay attention, have the concentration of a damp sponge or have a personal qualm with the show.
Either way. These sausages carry no weight or merit with their inconsiderate opinions, they can watch Rings Of Power instead. 😜
"Terrible acting" did these fools skip all Vizzy T scenes or what?
Okay now i get what aerys meant when he said burn them all. BURN THEM ALL
I didn't really like Hot D so I understand those people, but I understand if people like it too. This show is just not for me, it was boring for me and I am a huge Game of thrones fan. Everyone has their own opinion.
I wonder what these same people think of the Rings of Power
The character reactions you use are just hilarious
Man you have a voice that will fit short videos, voicing off mystery stories. Would be great
Those people wouldn't know talent even if it cut out their tongues.
ImdB scores for GoT are interesting, to say the least. Season 7 of GoT is ranked #2 if you go by average episode score per season. And people still want to pretend that BotB was a top-tier episode to the point that even recent reviews pointing out the flaws get mass disliked.
Out of curiosity, why do you think Battle of the Bastards was bad?
That's why it's obvious they are not genuine. Botb had payoffs and lots of action, but the writing was not very good at all.
@@long_john It's just not well written. The Mereen storyline is abruptly wrapped up with no care. Am I supposed to believe the slavers never attempted to take back Meereen just because Daenerys threatened them with dragons (something they knew she had)? Also her alliance with the ironborn doesn't make much sense because why would Yara agree to just abandoning the ironborn way without even asking how they would be compensated.
And then the Battle of the Bastards itself is just nonsensical. Why is Sansa letting Jon go into battle without telling him about the Vale troops knowing he's at a disadvantage. How the hell does Ramsey, who knew Stannis' position, somehow not know that there is an entire kingdom's army close to Winterfell. The military strategy used is horrible. Why is this an open-field battle? This should either be a siege or Jon baiting Ramsay to fight in the wolfswood. And then of course you have the downright embarrassing amount of plot armor for Jon where he somehow is put in a dozen life-or-death situations but doesn't sustain any serious wounds, much less die.
I still love BOTB but from like a guilty pleasure standpoint I realize objectively it’s not that great.
I have 0 proof but I'm sure 90% of criticism comes from 'woman want to be king, show woke, show bad' 🙄
Oh wow, another "show is perfect so any criticism must be sexist and racist and therefore invalid" comment
@@poisonpotato1 oh, my sweet summer child. You don't even remember what criticism of the show was like when it came out: 'why no s3x? Why woman king? Why Velaryons black?'.
0:53 nobody from Andor, huh?
attention spans have deteriorated severely over the past few years, which i attribute to tiktok’s astronomical rise in popularity during the covid lockdowns. it at least explains why there are so many reviews calling it slow and boring when it’s anything but. it’s definitely not a perfect show, but bad? boring? i have to laugh.
It's one thing to say you don't like (the portrayal) of certain characters, but you can't convince me that the cgi and the production were bad lmao
it’s mostly people that only enjoy watching fight scenes and people that default to hating anything sequel or prequel related for the sake of “nostalgia>”
don’t take twitter opinions seriously though, its very evident especially in the anime side where people use different series as a way of affiliating with a fanbase and spread hate to other shows like its a gang war 💀
There is no conflict? There is conflict every single episode. Between Daemon and Otto, Viserys and daemon, Otto and Viserys, Alicent and Rhaenyra, corlys and Viserys, Alicent's kids and Rhaenyra's kids, daemon and Cole, Harwin and Cole, so many more. Watch with your eyes open next time.
i mean internal conflict is the main goddamn theme
these are the people who ruined GOT by just wanting aCtIoN
I think the issue with these reviews is the marketing of the show. To get people to watch it they need to show off the exciting shots in the trailers. so people not really familiar with GoT come in thinking that this show will be all swords, boobs, and dragons, but then they find out it’s a character driven show first. A show that focuses on characters will have a lot of talking, which if you’re expecting fast paced action, feels like a drag. I can see that frustrating someone, it’s like ordering a sprite at a restaurant and getting water. Water is good but not when you’re expecting the more exciting sprite.
I agree with the IMDB critique. I don’t get why people are so googly eyed about HoTD. I feel like the difference is if you’re someone who watched GoT weekly in the early seasons (1-4) you really see it clearly; and I watched GoT weekly since end of season 1.
We understand what the episode to episode payoffs looked like that drove the plot forward versus HoTD and it’s not even close. GoT episodes were packed with actually interesting dialog and plot events that are still unmatched in TV; you’d be 30 minutes into an episode and already satisfied with what happened and there was still more left. HoTD plot elements are slow moving, forced or accidents, with characters who lack will manifested in events and things happen to them rather than them seriously (and sensibly) influencing how they got there. Giving an example of something that happened over the entire season that made sense isn’t a counter point; GoT did this episode to episode with character sensible pretexts, motivations, and relationships.
In the last episode Rhaenyra has dialog that suggests she could keep peace in the kingdoms by negotiating with the Hightowers. They did that because she needs to be contrasted with war driven men of the kingdom, and as a reasonable person who explores other avenues. Except within the reality of the world they are in, that she grew up in, there is no middle ground between a literal usurper and the person who was most publicly declared heir and sworn to by many houses for decades prior. Unless she means to entirely give up her claim to the throne, but the writing couldn’t do that because they spent the entire season with her seemingly wanting to be queen. There was no peace at that very moment, and then the show uses an accidental killing (on top of an accidental misunderstanding of Viserys dying words) of Lucerys as the reason Rhaenyra now has to go to war? The show has it backwards: in that world, peace can be made after killing a 2nd son; especially an illegitimate one. Usurpation has no peace.
i think they all wanted to drop a review for rings of power
People miss the mark when they talk about Westeros being “slow paced”, because what makes it special is that the dialogue scenes are suspenseful setup and the payoff is the grand battles and everything. It seems like people want anything Westeros to be GoT season 7 with every scene being dragon destruction. That’s not what this is or ever will be
I’d be really interested in hearing what these guys think to be good quality content
I feel like the people who left those reviews are the same people who love CW shows were everything is just given to them and they don’t have to use their brain at all
God I forgot some people are so annoyed at the Velaryon's race
These people rated The Rings of Power 10/10, same with Disney Star Wars. Case closed.
