    Espada failed us big time. His inexperience did us in. Choosing the pitcher with the 2nd most blown saves made no sense....or should I say that only a coach with no sense would have rested the entire season on a pitcher that had been struggling and failing in his last 9 outings. Wow ....what a bone headed move

    Peña can’t hit. Tucker can but is a lazy looking outfielder. Altuve is in his 30s. Alveraz is really your only power bat. Bergman is satisfied.

    When you are spoiled, I think it’s very difficult to conceive of the fact that you are spoiled, until the spoiling comes to an end. Then, you’re left dumbfounded. Insulted, almost. It’s a shock to the system. What do you mean there isn’t a game tomorrow?!? The season isn’t over yet! But then you realize, that for your guys, it IS over. Then you understand: oh, I’m the middle-aged asshole living vicariously through much younger, far more talented men who just happen to have gotten a job in the geographic region where I grew up. AND THEN you realize how good you’ve had it for so long. Even now, with the Astros being unceremoniously bounced from the playoffs- they were still IN the playoffs. That’s something. It wasn’t satisfying, but we had a couple more days of hope, at the very least. You’ll take that, right? Would you rather have not had it?
    Since 2017, the Houston Astros have brought me a lot of joy. They’ve given me confidence, when I should have felt none. They made me feel like a winner, just by virtue of choosing them to attach my fandom to. And it was needed too, because I often DON’T feel like such a winner- as just a regular guy with regular problems. The success of the Astros was mine to enjoy and relish in.
    For an hour after their loss, I vented in a youtube chatroom. Hader is a thief. Altuve is over the hill. Alvarez is fragile. Tucker has no clutch. Framber is a head case. Pena was never any good to begin with, Crane is just another brainless born rich billionaire, and so on and so forth it went until I tuckered myself out. Then I was left feeling pretty empty.
    Then I felt very much like an ingrate. After all the joy, for all those years, I turned on them just that quickly. One untimely exit from the playoffs, and it’s like the last seven years didn’t even happen. What have you done for me lately, indeed.
    It’s risky to pin too much on the competence of other people. If you’re getting paid, that’s one thing. But if it’s just for leisure, well, you find yourself forever on the precipice of disappointment that you have absolutely no control over, and no one to hold accountable for. All that you can do is give voice to it somehow or another- whinge and complain. Suffice to say that doesn’t quite have the same oomph as when you can fire someone for screwing the proverbial pooch.
    Yes, Houston Astros fans have been quite spoiled. And it has been quite nice. It’s lovely to be spoiled, afterall. For some time, it felt like Jose Altuve was personally doting on me, that Justin Verlander was feeding me sweets, that Alex Bregman was lavishing me with gifts. AND HOW DARE THEY STOP DOING THOSE THINGS BY LOSING A GAME OR TWO?!?
    Surely, the Houston Astros did want to win. They certainly did want to advance and go to another World Series. They aren’t happy to begin their vacations early. But as fans, we have a way of taking the sort of umbrage with these losses that would suggest that they did lose on purpose. That they played poorly to spite us. Pure silliness, of course. But when all you can do is watch it unfold in front of you, the mind races to place blame, and it simply won’t do to explain that: the better team just won (especially when you can’t quite bring yourself to believe that!)
    So here we are, feeling a sense of unrequited parasocial love. On the one hand it’s hard not to feel ridiculous about it, but on the other, it’s hard not to feel creepy. Ultimately that’s what this ends up feeling like to me- something between creepy and ridiculous. Penultimately, I can’t wait to do it all again in about five months!

    The Astros window is closing. Their best players are aging, every season they lose an important piece. The farm system is bare. The owner isn't going to go out and buy the best free agents on the market. Astros fans should be grateful they had the 8/9 years of excellence. Just about every fanbase would take 5 WS berths and 2 rings.
    Looking at the AL West. The Rangers have a lot of young talent on the roster and in the farm system. It wouldn't surprise me if they become the team to beat, in that division, for the next several years.

    I told yall many times but many Astros FANS DIDN'T believe me. The Dynasty was over when Crane and Bagwell messed with our lineup after the Astros won the championship in 2022 !! They got rid of Gurriel and Vasquez, and signed GRANDPA Abreu and sorry Montero to long term deals. Michael Jordan said it the best in his documentary "THE LAST DANCE!' You never mess with a championship lineup. Let them play until that team loses. But everyone got cocky and thought you guys can just keep replacing players and win. They Dynasty ended after the 2022 championship. THANKS ALOT CRANE AND BAGWELL !!!

  • @Mario-it3po
    @Mario-it3po Місяць тому +1

    Time to get rid of some players that don't have that fire anymore. They're looking for high paying lengthy contracts instead. Let Bregman go. Sign Vladimir Guerrero if possible for 1st base, if not, sign Eugenio Suarez at 3rd short-term. Tade Framber and Tucker for two 1 SP's and more. Maybe trade J.Pena as well for an offensive centerfielder. Bring up the Bryce kid and other prospects to the team. Not starting over, but retooling with new hungry blood.

    The Astros are a good team with poor management. They should have kept Dusty. Espada wanted to impress us with his chess moves during almost every he managed this season. He tried to micromanage the team. Framber Valdez is fair to average at best. Hunter brown is a triple a player. How do you not start your ace in game one. That is Ronel Blanco. Verlander is shot. Espada moves doing the game became a story in itself. He always was making moves. His manage style was more visceral than intuitive. He thinks is is the smartest guy in the room. He clearly is not.

  • @stlconsulting8462
    @stlconsulting8462 Місяць тому +1

    AJ out coached Espada simply put. He put his best pitcher out there first. Game 2 he used a bullpen approach, changing pitchers every 3 innings so every at bat was a new unfamiliar pitcher. AJ cost Crane millions of dollars. Talk about pay back. Crane screwed AJ and Dusty. AJ got revenge thru money. Astros have a new rival stronger than Yankees Red Sox and orioles. Tigers. I had hunch it would play out like this. AJ wanted this more than life. He said after the game “ isn’t baseball great”.

    The Astros front office should let Bregman walk, he's looking for his last big contract before he retires. They need to give OF Kyle Tucker his payday. They havent had a full-time star outielder since OF Lance Berkman. Yordan is more of a DH & should be moved to 1st base already, his knees are not getting any better.

Tucker is a pretty good hitter but he feasts on teams 2nd and 3rd tier pitching but struggles in the playoffs when he only faces top pitching game in and game out
