Theory: maybe the phantom king is a living organism, that created many robots, that look like him, the phantoms, and these robots malfunction and cause harm this may explain the lack of variation within the subtypes of phantoms, as well as the strange noises they make idk lol Edit: Maybe ALL the phantoms are robots, including the king, and where created by someone... and I think that may be... greely! Perhaps after the creation of the bots, he wanted to try to destroy them, as they were causing harm and he felt bad, qnd created an organization, the alphas. The members realized that he was the creator of the phantoms and kicked him out, which is my theory of why greely disappeared
