Tom's brother does the majority of the writing now, Sam is still pretty much just a vocalist but with a bit more input than before

The chorus really grew on me. At first I found it underwhelming but the next day I was like : YOU WANNA MAKE YOUR HELL A REALITYYY

Sam has been working and training really hard to become a better clean vocalist. I like that he gave it a shot on this one! I love the track. I just had to accept that Architects will never be the same since Tom passed. And they are pretty amazing still! Thanks for the reaction guys

Yes people hating on their new style should understand that like the way Wyat and Lindsay put it. They lost a limb so they're not gonna be the same and they can't be the same.
@@StewinHead pretty sure he mentioned it in an interview... let me see if I can find it. They didn´t really do anything in this song with his voice, just nobody is used to Sam´s clean voice :D
Its evolution, why would anyone want to stand still and stagnate when you have this in your range? Doesn't make sense to me!
Also, Dan and Tom both always listed Tool and Deftones as a couple of their biggest influences in previous interviews. With that in mind this new direction makes quite a lot of sense.

@@Anthony-pq4vr In my opinion, the lyrics are the best element of the song, my problem lies mostly with the vocalist's voice. In my opinion it does not fit with the song and atmosphere at all. Vocals are definitely hit or miss, so if one enjoys the vocals this would be very different.
I also believe the song is a little repetitive, and not a lot happens instrumentally.
So, I'd say it's an ok song which way too overrated

I prefer Black Lungs over Animals all day long lol. I had to listen to Animals 2 or 3 times before I loved it. This track was instant love from the first listen.
Same I loved this from first listen! I normally don't love first listens either but I'm not sure why but this was a straight up banger in my mind
@@caseydykes117 My favorite band is A Day To Remember, so a wordy chorus really does it for me, because they do the same thing with most of theirs. So I was instantly like "hell yeah!" when I heard this song lol
@Daisy Dan I never said it wasn't. I love both songs. That definitely makes Animals more interesting though. I just prefer the style Black Lungs is going for, and that's why, for me, it's the better song. However... that doesn't make the Animals bad. It's a preference thing. My preference changes all the time. I could wake up one day, and decide that I prefer Animals over Black Lungs. As of now though, Black Lungs is what I'm into the most

Dan is the main lyricist. To my knowledge he wrote all the lyrics in holy hell excluding the 3 songs Tom wrote before he passed so I imagine dan wrote everything on this album as well
He and Sam work together on the lyrics now. Holy Hell was mostly Dan, but Sam said he worked a lot on FTTWTE

I instantly liked Animals and I was coming back to it alot and then Black Lungs dropped and I listened to it like 5 times over. I like Black Lungs more, but I love both... ya know cause Architects

I had the exact reaction to this songs as you have! First listen was awesome but when i heard it 5 times and you get to know the chorus is coming and the breakdown hits it gets even better! Awesome lyrics

I agree with them. I was hooked right away on the first listen of Animals. Idk just something about the simple chugs and the line "should I just pull the pin" with his new style of singing. But for this, I needed like 5 listens to fully get into the chorus cause like wyat said it's quite wordy. But that breakdown all the way to the end is amazing tho!

Dude the first time I listened to it I liked it alot but yes dude it definitely grows on you it literally gets better everytime you listen to it.!♡ I freaking love it.!♡ I just love architects one of my favorite bands of all time.!♡
Great video as always guys! Animals took me a day to get into (first reaction: cool I guess, one day later I found myself humming the chorus, now I love that song), this was an instant hit. But people are different :)

This reminds me a lot of The Here & Now album, I actually like it and it makes me laugh when people say "this isn't Architects" because it is, it is a part of them.

This is definitely my favorite of the new songs. I can’t stop listening to it.
Josh Middleton doing back vocals in this one, but yes that is also one of Sam Carter's voices he can pull out. That dude has such a large vocal range and can easily diverse dynamics in his singing, even during live performances. For example, you can hear Sam has done a lot of clean vocal parts in Architects' old stuff that precedes LF//LT.

I was so curious to hear your thoughts about this new track! Funny though, because for me it was the other way around: I didn't really feel Animals the first few times, but it REALLY grew on me. I immediately liked Black Lungs from the get-go, and I came to absolutely love it after a handful of plays.

I have enjoyed their past two releases but honestly, I enjoy their other 2 singles more. Dead Butterflies, and Discoure is Dead. They played them on their livestream concert.

Checked here daily for this! For me, I preferred this to animals but I still loved animals. I don’t know what it is, but the variety and aggression felt different and I loved it. But then again I love everything Architects put out there
The way you mentioned Parasite Eve growing on you was EXACTLY the same way I felt with this song. After a few listens, I fell in love with it. It's different from their old stuff, but I'm excited to hear what else they have in store for us. If you haven't watched it yet, Chris Turner (drummer of Oceans Ate Alaska)'s drum video of "40 Roll" is nuts. Would love to see a drummer's reaction to that one :D

Massive by VRSTY. Not a very known band but when I heard this on Octane over the thanksgiving break for the first time, I immediately added it to my playlist.
When Animals dropped I was straight away, "Wait, have they finally run out of material left by Tom?", and this doesn't confirm that, but I really hope so.

Took me a few listens but I love this song now.
Love the breakdown and more heaviness the only problem with this song is not have big replayable value like animals. Also yeah that chorus need more than one time to us feeling it basically you need more time listning to this if wanna stuck in your head.

I agree with you about choruses in general. The ones you can belt out at the top of your lungs are better than those that you trip over yourself trying to say. I do like this song though - and like others have said it gets better after a few listens!

Some things I’m noticing and loving: Less video cuts, knowing the bandmembers names, a couple brief pauses for a sick riff or scream, and not listening to the song beforehand... all make it much more appealing to me! In exchange for the review I want you to react or cover some Shadow of Intent! PLEASE!!!

The song is call out for humanity to “examine the role we are currently playing in the destruction of the world with barren landscapes, and foreshadowing of extinction” which is one of the main themes of this new record as the band stated it’ll focus on: “…the part we are all playing in the world’s slow destruction, and tackle the biggest questions facing the future of our planet”
