Watching this and weeping 😭 born and raised in Phoenix AZ, lived in MKE for 2 years and fell in love with that city, due to certain circumstances had to move back to AZ and my heart aches everyday. I miss MKE with all my heart....
Honestly, Milwaukee's alright. It's basically a cheaper Chicago, and that's coming from someone who's lived in Milwaukee for a majority of his life. I wouldn't trade it for the world though!
Born and raised in Milwaukee. Its been about 10 years since I left and I am happy to say I will be returning in 3 days! Thanks for the video, even though its 6 years old its giving me something to look forward too.
It's been over 10+ years, probably 15 years since I've traveled near this road. I was born in Cudahy, raised in Franklin, and spent my teenage years in Greenfield, and my Dad in Greendale. So many memories of this city. Bradford Beach, Grant Park, Sheridan Park, Jackson Park, Wilson Park Pool, Ice Skating and Hockey, and fishing in the "Lagoon". Parties Under the Hoan Bridge 🌉 sorry if I goofed the spelling. Cruising Hwy.100 & Root River Parkway/Whitnall. Southridge Mall. The 41-Twin Drive-In Theater in Franklin, or the 24-Outdoor in Hales Corners. Both were awesome places and BOTH were HUGE parts of my childhood. I can't thank you enough for these memory reminders. It's been a long time since I've sat and thought about cruising in my 72 Dodge Charger, my 69 Hurst Olds 442, or a beat up 72 Chevy Nova. LOL my first car was a 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger, again LOL! I also had 2 red beasts. A 1975 Olds Cutlass Supreme, and a 1973 Pontiac Firebird. Back then cars were MUCH cheaper and especially a old Nova, Cutlass, or a GM with a 350 4bbl was reasonably cheap and those engines were really long-term. My Dad was a car salesman, he sold new cars and used until the late 70's then used cars. Which was great because I started driving in 83-84. Cruising Hwy.100 on Friday & Saturday nights were always fun. Hot women, and back then CB radios were big? Why? Anyway all of us had em. My one buddy with a 1972 Buick Electra, it was a ocean liner with wheels.🚢🛥🚢🚢🛳 It was epic for sneaking people into the Drive-in inside the trunk...lol. 2 fit EASY. You could do three, but if they had B.O. OOOF! Sorry to ramble, but these videos have really been so incredibly wonderful. So many memories. So many things now gone, changed, closed, or just trashed. What was is gone. What has been with never ever be again, & sadly what is now can't compare to what was.
Thanks so much for doing this! I am travelling to Milwaukee from the UK in a few weeks and I am dreading driving (on the wrong side of the road!) in a car I don't know (we have cars with manual gears here) on roads I've never seen before - this really helps.
Check out: Milwaukee Public Museum, East Side, Oriental Theater, Von Trier bar, Bayiew area (down Superior street, byt the lake), the Lake front. So many places to see, its amazing. Reminds me of Europe and makes me homesick!
I have lived in Milwaukee for 20 years now. I love my city! So many great businesses and restaurants to go to... bonus a great lakefront! I live 5 minutes from everything from going to a Brewers game to a Bucks game. You will know what I'm talking about if you live here 🙂
Wow, how the hell did I miss this video. GREAT! One of the few remaining major cities I haven't been to. Believe it or not, but based on what I saw in this vid, Murray Hill and the Lower East Side districts remind me a lot of what you'd see in Oakland, CA (despite the media's never-ending insistence that the entire city is a crime-ridden wasteland). Loved the look and feel of the Thrid Ward district, too. Climatic ending under the Marquette. Another "favorited" video. Thanks 4 the tour!
i have lived there 1 year. very nice place, nice people, i just could not handle the snow time lol . thanks for the video.....bringing me back good memories and good time

Lauren Gabourel This is two years later. Hows Milwaukee? What district do you live in? Milwaukee is a fine city if you stay out of the inner city and the suburbs full of annoying white people.
Great video, perfect song. Milwaukee is a great city especially the East side. I hope you decide to post more videos in the future. My niece is on a television show called Suburbia and I told her to take a look at this video and she said you have a lot of talent. Keep up the good work. Thanks
Amazing video!!! I was up there last summer and went through many of the same neighborhoods you showed...was great to see that all again! The east side is beautiful and I love the Museum by Calatrava by the lake. Love the ending with the huge interchange and parking lot, and I see you even caught a train for about a second. Very nice. :)
I realize this is a old video but it nice to see Milwaukee again. I left Milwaukee in the 70's and said I'd never go back now I'm retired wouldn't mind going back but but with the tax structure it won't happen. Thank you for the video.
Grew up there. Been on everyone one of those roads. Used to pick up on merchant road AKA Broadway. I really liked the way you turned in front of the bus off of Farewell on to Brady St.😜
Did you check out the italian bakery on brady street? They have some really good bakery.Used to rent bicycles on the east side lake front, they had some 2 seaters. Always liked the east side. went to lincoln high school years back. the building is now an art center. You can see the downtown area from the school. If you take n35th street going toward the airport [not north 35th street] you'll go by the 3 domes, I suggest you visit them, and further down a couple b locks on the right Leon's Custer stand, it's the best!,just right, not too sweet! brings back memories! Had amotor cycle gang chase us one time in the downtown area, looked pretty rough too! We managed to get away!Lived for awhile in the MARQUETTE university area, in the same building with the students. Thanks for the memories.

+Cheesy Terry Yes. It offers a fairly "big city" feel for a fraction of the price. And, at least where I live, there are a lot of new job opportunities from various new business that have just finished the construction phase and are now hiring.
SpunkyRO ! It's so racially segregated . I'm a singer and there's not alot of opportunity for me. People literally call this place "Killwaukee" I can go on forever
Thanks for your great and thorough synopsis of Milwaukee Erik Mickleson.Have never been to the midwest and want to take a tour of it,with Milwaukee being one of the cities on my agenda.I thank GOD i don't drink anymore lol after reading about the commonalty of dui's there.
I doubt law enforcement in the state even gave out DUI's before the year 2000. For majority of residents, beer drinking is a cultural thing. The state had the least punitive laws on DUI and the first 4 DUI's, used to be a ticket. Not clear on how insurance firms handled that.
I lived in Milwaukee my entire life and the weather is terrible here. It is April 14th and it is suppose to Snow on Sunday. I am looking to relocate to a warm climate.
Cool video but you also have to enjoy the great history and timeline of our great city!! From The 3 rivers to Kilbourn/Walker/Juneah Explorers to Lake Emily to today :)
Shorewood might be one of the best places to live. Just north of the city border, the suburb has its share of the wealthy, working class and middle class. It is a safe village and it is centrally located. The schools are excellent and there are bus lines along Oakland that take you to downtown if you prefer to not drive. WhiteFish Bay is also very nice, with several parks, great shopping and a desirable central shoreline location. The income level is likely higher in WFB and some might see it as a somewhat more desirable place to live. The schools are some of the best in the state. Fox Point - River Hills - Mequon are mostly professionals and a higher income area.
Plan time to take a drive to Cedarburg, ( 15 miles north ) and Holy Hill ( another 15 miles west ) and if you really want to be awed, a drive up I-43 to Manitowoc, then exit to highway 42 and drive north to Door County into a Sister Bay. It is a few hours of driving and very scenic.
Wait....Milwaukee actually looks...cool. They have loft conversions, and Portland style high rises, looking out over a beautiful looking waterfront district. They have hip people riding around on fixies and Vespas. They even have a "Lower East Side"...with a "Whole Foods" no less. I hope the Milwaukee board of tourism is paying you, for you have singlehandedly put this lace on my "summer visit list".
I was stationed here working for NW airlines in a downtown office back in 1967-68. I lived in the lower east side just off Ogden near the Layton School of Art. I understand they bulldozed a lot of that 'hood, which was a pity. I loved the old houses and historical feel. Hung out at O'Reilly's Bar, and it got bulldozed, too. I found the people were not friendly, though. Back then, if you didn't go to kindergarten through college together, they didn't trust outsiders. It was 6 months before anyone invited me to their house. Of course, back then, no one moved there from the West coast - it was just the reverse, so they thought I had to have been a narc. I didn't have a car or know my way around, so only knew my little neighborhood. I got a little car sick with the fast motion of this video, but enjoyed it anyway. Where is the third ward? I'd like to go back and get a tour and see what I missed.
Jacob - Yes I find the older people (MY age) tend to be a bit sarcastic compared to Chicago, where I'm from. But the younger people don't seem to have that "bite". And the Third Ward is just south of the downtown area and stretches from the Milwaukee River to Lake Michigan. Good restaurants, especially in the Milwaukee Market (check out the sea food restaurant at the east end of the building. They supply fish to many Milwaukee restaurants.)
Born & grew up & left MKE @ 22 y.o. Am in my 60s now and have lived all over the world. Cons: Painful childhoods, rigid, ethnic to a fault, racist neighborhoods in the 60s & early 70s. Pros: Great public education through college, the great food. Nope. Cons outweigh the pros...
Totally disagree. Different cultures lived among their own kind, Italians on lower east side, and Jews in Bayside etc... But that is not racist. I worked in the black ghetto for a few years and never heard or witnesses racism of any kind. Your childhood or the type of home you grew up in, has no bearing on what kind of city Milwaukee is.
My internet friends Raysean Watson and Mia Pooder live around them ends. Man I wanna go, sadly I'm from England, born in Portugal 😢. I'm finna move Milwaukee on summer holidays 💯🔥
Not too bad because of the Lake effect. It also depends on where you've lived. It gets windy but doesn't experience the teen/arctic temps the way the rest of the upper midwest does.
Total exaggeration dude. Of course they have bad areas but if you're with a local there is no issue. All areas of the city have interesting things to offer.
I lived in downtown Milwaukee, Cass St. and Kilborne St. in the early 80's and I visited an Antique store in the Historic 3rd Ward when it was a deserted and depressed area. I actually thought it was an interesting area then and LOOK AT IT NOW! Who'd a thought. But glad I left WI.
It was the warehouse district and a seldom used route to the south side. Mostly it was the area for gay bars, when that lifestyle was mostly underground.
@@karenperry5342 That is one thing I never thought of, taking the train out of Milwaukee. My friend enrolled in the MBA program at Northwestern and took the train to class. I think it was just 2 or 3 days a week, but that was too much, so he transferred to Marquette. I worked with a guy whose wife was a hair dresser and her co-workers were often gay men. That being the case, the husband would point out the gay bars as we made deliveries around town. They were often businesses with no signs out front. Police would raid them for no reason and the public had no idea. And that was the 1980's.
The towns and cities beyond Milwaukee are spectacular. Cedarburg, Two Rivers, Bailey's Harbor, Sister Bay, Minocqua, Richland Center, Cambridge, too many to list.
Oh yes, from this tour of Milwaukee's side streets and underwhelming neighborhoods, it's a sure bet that Paris, London, New York City, Los Angeles or Chicago are shaking in their boots!
1. Paris and London are cloudy like you wouldn't believe. 2. New York City is expensive like you wouldn't believe. 3. LA has the worst air pollution in the USA, a downtown with tents, trash and 58,000 homeless. 4. Chicago is the most corrupt city in the USA.
We're going back to Paris for another month in September after a glorious, sunny month there two years ago. NY City is AMAZING like you wouldn't believe (if you ever went) I lived in LA for 16 years. You obviously have never been there. either Enjoy Milwaukee, Homie.
I am wondering why you choose this song for this video. Considering it has a Western style I just think it seems unusual for Milwaukee. I think it would work well for some small western city but being from the Milwaukee area itself it dosen't really represent the city.

@@maxsmith695 Yes, there were just a few bars on the corners but most buildings were completely nondescript and almost scary in that regard!!
Love the city tho
Tommen you better get Margaery out!
I will don't worry.
Nice looking little city
Im from Lansing Michigan but I have to visit Millwaukee, Wisconsin.
The divas stare Aj lee is from here
I love her
Music?
Milwaukee sure is beautiful
The towns and cities beyond Milwaukee are spectacular. Cedarburg, Two Rivers, Bailey's Harbor, Sister Bay, Minocqua, Richland Center, Cambridge, too many to list.
Kind of an old town feel.
Jeffrey Dahmer comes to mind
your BF?

It's interesting.... all of the subtle changes over the last ten years.
What the hell, milwaukee is that big? I live near washington park, i love it
Watching this 11 year old video and thinking what my life could have been. Nonetheless, I still have a lot to live and I shall make the most of it.
Like how you only stayed on the e side and downtown area. Maybe if you kept going down north ave huh??! Js
North avenue is dangerous past the river. Them are the facts.
NY City is AMAZING like you wouldn't believe (if you ever went)
I lived in LA for 16 years. You obviously have never been there. either
Enjoy Milwaukee, Homie.
Good luck with that. Paris only gets 35% annual sunshine and has a suicide rate double the rest of Europe. Wisconsin is party central all summer long.
I wish you hadn't sped this up quite so fast, so I could take it in better. It's been decades since I've been back.
You can adjust the speed using the gear symbol on UA-cam.
I am wondering why you choose this song for this video. Considering it has a Western style I just think it seems unusual for Milwaukee. I think it would work well for some small western city but being from the Milwaukee area itself it dosen't really represent the city.
Nice video..it looks like St. Paul MN
I lived there my hole life
I could leave my bicycle in front of my house, on the south side, and not have it stolen in the 50's, wouldn't want to walk alone there now.
South and North of the area you see in this video respectively.
Bonita ciudad.
any small UA-camrs that live in Milwaukee wanna meet up tho
what is the nearest suburb by milwaukee?
The most old European style city in the US. This is not anywhere USA. Coolest streetlights anywhere.
German builders created most of that history.
creative
You should change the thumbnail of the video.
if you lived in Milwaukee no matter where you went on the planet it would be better than the cow pie that is Milwaukee
my old stomping grounds.
Home...
What they didn't even tour the south side
