Thank you Scott for bringing this much needed back story to our attention. Thank you Red for your service and sharing your stories with us! Fins/Bubbles Up Forever ~ David K.
Thank you for continuing to bring us these "backstories"! Having insight on the origins of Jimmy's music that we all love so much makes the songs even more special. Keep up the great work! (And awesome book--BTW!)
As a retired AF flier, I never had to do the dunker, but I knew of it from my Navy brethren and I knew Jimmy had to do it for his ride. I know he credited his survival from his own plane crash to the training he received from the Navy prior to his Tomcat flight. So I suspected that is where “Bubbles Up” came from, but now I know I was correct. Great hearing it from Red……v/r Draino
First of all thank you for your service, Thank You! Forgot about his plane flipping with JB under water and his story afterwards but l still remember most is some total ash Holes shooting live ammunition at his plane occupied with his friend who we're stopping for a chicken lunch, guess another reason why we love America. In Florida, Dive certification school instructor told us never hold breath just blow bubbles. I can still remember my dive Master Mac saying to everyone just breathe normal and blow Bubbles; they'll go up where ya want to be, hopefully.
Thank you for sharing your story! I loved it!!

Man. That was AWESOME.
That was a neat story. It seems like Jimmy made friends wherever he went. He lived a full and rich life. Thanks for sharing.
