While some of the more dangerous laws and plans from like P2025 are very unlikely to pass, and the US won’t be destroyed, I am still quite worried about hateful people gaining confidence What everyone needs to do now is to check in on your friends and be there for them as they likely feel very hopeless, that’s been my experience and now they’ve thanked me for being there for them, don’t underestimate love and empathy
i can get you. people worry too much about what can happen but not what would happen. It might be tough but I feel it won't be all bad and maybe the conclusion will be worth it
Good timing! I’ve been playing through Wandersong for the first time all this past week, and I just finished it tonight. It was moving, and the secret developer island was probably my favorite part even over the story itself. It was great to hear about the struggles and empathy the team had invested in this game and the hopes they had for those that play it. Anyway, much of what you said resonated with me. Thanks for sharing!
I feel the intro. I've been wanting out of the US since I was a pre-teen and that want is insanely high now. I wish I had the capability and affordability to move out of the US with my two partners right now and so... the best I can do is ask for financial help to get out and the thing is that I am not the only one asking for help, I've seen more and more posts of people wanting to rush out of the US but can't or are planning to and just getting ready to leave. The next 4 years are going to be hellish but I feel like all communities need to work together to keep each other sane and safe. I'm a NSFW furry artist, I don't draw often but I know that even I'll be massively affected by Project 2025 if it's approved, creativity, freedom and love are all in threat of being lost and it's.. scary.
As your neighbour from the north of the border. I personally want to give the deepest sympathies and the best of luck, for the next 4 years. I would offer you all up here, but we're heading to the same bitter path coming next year ourselves. (Misery loves company, I guess). It's going to be tough, but I believe you all can make it, just got to be smart about it. Unlike the childish, hateful people who couldn't take 2020's loss for the past 4 years. Just take it like a very bad storm, the sun will rise again. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.
Thank you for talking about Wandersong, the game means a lot to me personally. I've always viewed it as a political piece of art and i've never seen anyone else express that before until now. To me it's always perfectly captured the emotional(?i guess) case for organizing your community like person to person. I dunno any concrete arguments for that thought being a part of the actual game, it's just contributed to a lot of my thoughts since 2020 when I first played it and it keeps being relevant, I do cry at the world chorus scene every time I replay or watch a playthrough
If you ever listen to the commentary or dev room they do actually talk quite a bit about the election (2016) that occurred around the time they were making the game and they shifted gears quite a bit in trying to be a beacon of hope during that time!
I think one thing that helped me, is that I can ensure that I can keep living, I can keep trying to help people, and I can keep trying to encourage people. And like hell I’m going to let someone stop me without a fight.
I've seen countless other people say it first but as a Straight White Man who voted Blue despite being Red, the most important thing you can do right now is keep living. Keep calm and carry on, because giving up is what the ones up top want you to do. By continuing to live your lives and not fear what comes, is the ultimate form of defiance - and it is what we need right now.
Thank you for the video, I came here from the Streetpass Stalker series. The results of the election really damaged my already disrepaired mental state and made me feel like I was powerless and unable to make a difference in the world. This video is a reminder that while it may seem like the world is ending, it will only end if you let it. I'm aiming to become a school counselor and I know that there will be many students in the coming years that will need help. Thank you for reminding me to give back to my community and that even if Trump is president and Project 2025 is a real possibility, we will not go down without a fight.
School counselors make so much difference in a pivotal point in a child's life. Thank you for going into a field where you can help shape the world for the better.
if anyone is still feeling powerless, start with the immediate things you can do. get back to a routine, be around people you know. i promise it’ll pass. then you can push for change. and those don’t have to be big, either. i guarantee there are places that’ll need volunteer help over winter. or, heck, get a library card! so many things happen at the library!
I guess the biggest fear I have is that I just don’t know what to do. I want to do what I can, but I don’t know how…and that scares me even more. While this video definitely helps and reminds me why i love this game in the first place, but I still feel really small. I’m not saying I’m giving up, I’m still gonna keep trying hard to fight back against adversity. But I’m just plain scared. But I hope we can still grow a community together. Sing your heart out little bards ☺️☺️
He served 4 years before, and it was nothing more than an annoyance. People are really being over dramatic about the whole thing. Not happy about it, but life goes on, 4 years will pass and someone else will be in office. Further, sorry to say, but the radical reaction to the whole thing is a large part of why people ended up electing him again. It’s worth reflecting on what can be done to actually sway opinion of the people who were on the fence and went the other way, rather than alienate them.
The difference is now that he has a Supreme Court, Senate, and House and plans to staff it with loyalists. He already employed a white nationalist named Tom Hooman who was one of the many authors behind Project 2025. Trump wasn't damaging in 2016 because he constantly obstructed because of his political inexperience along with having anti-Trump Republicans. The reason why people voted for Trump is because they are incredibly ignorant. Simple as. Aside from the fact that Project 2025 hurts minorities, it would also raise up the costs of goods thanks to tariffs. Additionally, their Social Security, Medicare, and veteran benefits being removed would make it even more costly for them to live.
It's bad enough that they elected an actual convicted rapist while complaining about imaginary trans rapists using restrooms. There is no good reason to vote for him since he would remove SSI, Medicare, and veteran benefits while implementing tariffs.
Yeah, seriously. He’s not a “God King,” he’s not the “Dark Lord,” he’s just a weird old man saying inflammatory things to secure the election. Saying that the world is going to end because he got re-elected is absurd and borders on fearmongering. If it does, it was going to happen regardless.
I mostly agree with the second part, but don’t pretend that people weren’t completely fucked over for the first four years he was in office. I know people who died from the pandemic, and that was absolutely trump’s fault. It’s hard for a lot of people to not emotionally lash out
@ not one policy he put in place got people killed during the pandemic. again, can’t stand him and he did harm people during his presidency, no question, but the way it hurt was just making everyday life a bit worse. I knew plenty of people who died during the pandemic, namely my own dad, and I can confidently say each one can be blamed on the advice of the CDC and/or the organizations working with it during that time. During that whole ordeal the presidents both had very little influence on the matter in general and it only really got better once medical professionals learned more about the disease and what helped treat it which finally lead to a major decrease in the mortality rate of it. Despite that, both presidents got undeserved blame and praise respectively for something they ultimately just sat at a desk for and other people solved. On emotions being high, that’s almost entirely part of the fear mongering around the whole thing. There’s so many things pushing Trump as something more than an incompetent asshole, acting as though he’s some great evil out to destroy the lives of everyone, when in reality he’s just a dumbass who shouldn’t be in office. I don’t fully get why the fear mongering works so much on people when we’ve already seen 4 years lead by Trump and just as I said, it sucked but it was by no means the end of the world. It’ll come and go and most people will forget about it just like the last one. There are so many real issues with him to criticize and it’s so annoying to see people wrongly attribute things to him because it give the right easy ammo to discredit every other valid point made when something is thrown in there that has little to no substance

honestly, i feel like games like this are great for helping people feel better, especially in situations like right now

Dang Indie, the words you said in the intro of this video summed up my feelings for the past week, spot on, word for word. *hugs you tight*
I feel you there. Just don't give up, okay? 🫂
Wandersong and chicory are two of my favorite games ever, so excited to try Beastieball now. Great video!
@@YummyLilNugget thank you!!
...I just hope Project 2025 doesn't kill works of art like this one or marginalize the people who make art like this out of existence.
I mean, you saw what happened to the Hayes code right?
wandersong is the game that made me want to be a game developer. a lot of time has passed since then, and i haven't stopped making games ever since
Lots of love, Indie. Thanks for the reminder that we should always strive to be better, to remember when have power

I haven't played the game but i love the message a lot specially on times like this where everything feels lost
I think one thing that helped me, is that I can ensure that I can keep living, I can keep trying to help people, and I can keep trying to encourage people. And like hell I’m going to let someone stop me without a fight.
We’re still living in one of the timeless where people end the world and it doesn’t end naturally

Thanks for the video. It made me smile

Great video ❤
I played it a few years ago, I should play it again it these hard times

One election would never and will never defeat fascism.
Every single election of your life is the most important.
Really nice video
Boost you rock
