Even though we haven't met we think off you two as part off our family. I'm looking forward to seeing your channel reach one hundred thousand subscribers just like DIYfferent achieved today.
It was very satisfying watching Jim pick away at the wall while back filling. The message at the end was Wonderful and very Important, folks seem to focus on negativity and don't care about good things and positivity much rite now. I'm very blessed to be able to take control of my life as well, no more rent payments, no more water bills and no more electricity bills. Thanks for sharing and as always keep building👍
Suggestion: Tamp the backfill well so you have a good base for the dome Hopefully a good rain will fall while the foundation is exposed. That will help to settle the backfill.
💚💚💚🤗 heroes are ordinary people who care, just like you, just like them, just like me, and it's wonderful to be reminded that we are not alone! Peace 🌳💚
Are you planning on connecting your stair risers to keep them from twisting? This build seemed to go really fast! You're becoming experts at earthbag building.
I'm always impressed with Jim's hardwork and disposition for all these projects. Even Jess's work ethic is impressive. I can see one day it will be an impressive homestead, but until then, you both are putting so much into it. I watch Homestead Rescue and see how that family comes to pitch in for homesteaders feeling at the end. You both aren't there yet and hope never to see that but until then I hope you both succeed and keep staying safe and healthy.
I fully expected Jessica to be taking a nap when you walked in.. I guess I should have know better.. Concerning living in the desert,, I have a mission statement: "It IS possible,, you CAN do it,, whatever you want to do" .. ..That definitely applies to you two..
Very well said guys! Change starts in our own homes, love what you 2 are doing! Determination & hard work will get you to where your heading! Health & happiness, from Queensland Australia 🙂
You guys should do a go fund me page for a tractor.you could use it for 100 things around the homestead especially when you start shaping the land for water retention.
Green Dream Project it seems like moving the dirt is the most labor intensive part. I noticed the my little homestead crew got a skip loader and are amazed at how helpful it has been.
I am building a Vacation home in Yucca, Arizona. I want to forestate the area. I had the chance of buying a greener property in Georgia. I chose the desert because I wouldn't have to take down any trees. With permaculture it should be possible to green the area.
They call it a desert for some reason, i imagine there's only so much you can grow given the poor soil and dry climate. But that's ok, being a vacation home. I wish you the best of luck, irrigation and good farming technique can do wonders!
@@jmbpinto73 It's a lot work, but I think it's work it. Swales on contour, and a couple of Nitrogen fixing trees like mesquite should help restore the land.
@@gladimirsavinon104 To some extent. Calcium, for example, can't easily be taken up out of alkaline soils, resulting in what we refer to as blossom end rot even when there's plenty of calcium in the soil. Added to that, in a desert most of the rain water runs off rather than soaking in, and what's left evaporates too fast--cover the soil, force the water to soak in, evaporation slows, and the natural acidity of the rain water can work on fixing the alkalinity of the soil.
love your videos, binging on them because it seems impossible to do what you do, and then you show that "Yes Virginia, it IS possible!" if you are determined and resourseful so good luck,I will keep watching !
Idm if you've moved on and covered it all up now but have you thought about added 4 or 5 deadmans around the cellar? I'm concerned the weight of the dome + the earth itself potentially during a downpour, might be too much strain on the cellar. Id hate to see it implode.
I with you guys all day long in your philosophy to change the world. I just retired and am now seriously looking into a sustainable life style. I moved, compacted, and graded dirt for a living for 42 years. I am a little concerned about the compaction you are getting in your back fill. You will have a lot of settlement(over the years) if it is not properly compacted. It may compromise the integrity of your dome structure. Something to think about.
You 2 are doing a great job. And your doing it here in Arizona i am over in Graham County Arizona of course and i know how hot it gets in the summer to keep it up in over 100 degree temps is hard and we have had one of the longest track of 100+ days in a long time so keep up the great work.
Jim, did you mean to say a 12 foot diameter or a 12 foot radius. It looks more like a 24 foot diameter for your foundation. You and Jess are a terrific team. I’m glad that you have connected and consulted with Joe at Homesteadonomics. You both have similarities of climate and construction opportunities. Enjoyed your livestream Thursday night. Wishing you and Jess peace, health and happiness on your journey. Peace brother.
I will comment now at the begining, because I lose the internet here all the time and I've watched your videos but can't comment ! Well got to the end of your video. What a great movement guys ! Im In !
Jessi---sounds like the mantra of the '50's movement: communes. They had the right motives but the foibles of sustainability and seeing things through threw it off course. Well, that and too much weed, LSD, and whatever else was rampant at that time. Surprisingly, several of the old communes are still viable and are intact.
what happens when it rains? Especially living here in Arizona the monsoons can get pretty bad. Do the bags leak water? I live near Tucson, what part of Arizona are you guys near?
It seems like an orchestrated mess right now in the world. I am so happy that we made a change in our lives to get away from suburbia and become closer to nature and our food. It's a long road but we have never been happier. I think that you guys are a great example of low impact living and sustainability. You inspire us. My hope is that we can encourage someone to take that leap into the unknown and live a better life free of the trappings of today's society.
I agree can you imagine if politcitians worked together and support each other instead of getting rich off the common people every body seems to be a victim and so the blame game goes on and on. like you Green Dream Project.
I guess this might seem pretty obvious, but I seem to have missed the explanation for why you need a second dome rather than building on top of the existing wall. Explanation please?
If we kept building up, eventually we would still have to put a roof on this. The dome would be more suitable and stronger as an above ground structure.
Lol! It took a nuclear bomb to give Banner the dose he needed to become the hulk. Otherwise you could spend a week sun tanning in the high desert. That may work too.😆
Jessica, if there are people out there that are serious about doing what you're speaking about... I urge you to check out "Beau of the Fifth Column" YT channel. Justin King has several videos that go into detail/make suggestions, on how to get neighborhood/community based groups started. The goal of these groups, is to help one another, ensure a decent quality of life for everyone, fix things in the neighborhood/community, all without the help of the government, or encourage change in the local government. If you are not familiar with Mr King, he worked in the area of "Government Security" as a contractor. He is now a journalist and an activist, immigration being near and dear to his heart, he is also a student/fan of history. His life experience provides him with unique perspectives, that and his common sense, and critical thinking skills, make him someone people from around the world, have come to respect. When I first heard about this type of thing from Justin, I was immediately drawn to the idea, so when you brought up "being the change", I had to tell you about JK, and his channel. Feel free to let me know what you think (generally I don't like to get political on channels that are my "Happy Place", so if you prefer that I not, let me know. I will honor your wishes) Have a great weekend! ❤️🌵☀️⛈️🌈☮️🐎
Well aware you are doing everything by hand, but I think renting a small digging machine, would of been a better idea. Unless you are 2 hours away from any kind of town.
Part of me was hoping that we'd find Jess stretched out with her feet up. Relaxing. lol. Looking good Jim. I guess Crew gave your work a paws up. I follow You on the Gram & TikTok. First I've seen of the jewelry. We will check it out. Not to mention Jess's super hero request. Thanks Guys.
I'm sure someone already posted this, but would your mom do a UA-cam channel for tutorials? I'd love to make these myself! Another stream of income for her perhaps!
why do u have to tie ur dog to a pole, it feels for me it is cruelty why not let him run freely i thought u have put u the fence around ur property???? Dogs are part of Green life???

I LOVE that you help your Momma.
I am in the same situation with my Momma and her quilts.
You obviously get your hard work mentality honest!
Someone at the end had way too much energy... no names. There aren't many who could work like you two do in that heat.👍
I am with you friends! Let's make a new beginning for a better future!!!🙏🙏🙏

Thanks Michael!

Wow! Great video. Leading by example!
Are you planning on connecting your stair risers to keep them from twisting? This build seemed to go really fast! You're becoming experts at earthbag building.
Yes, we'll connect them.
Moving right along folks! Looking good! Stay safe and have a great weekend!

Awesome.. finally got land. Hit bedrock at 3ft.. there is the good and bad.. and yes.. you may qualify as the most inspirational couple on youtube...
Congratulations! Thank you!

That would be an amazing help indeed.
Green Dream Project it seems like moving the dirt is the most labor intensive part. I noticed the my little homestead crew got a skip loader and are amazed at how helpful it has been.
We saw that! It looked like that helped a lot.

Solid message in the last part of this video.

Actually, the desert has some of the most nutrient dense soils in the world.
@@ourselfreliantlife I've heard you say that the soil needs acidity in order to release those nutrients.

Nice arrow 😉 Those walls are going up beautifully! Great job 👍👍
Thanks Bill! I just have to finish this trench and then we can start the sub floor.

Thank you! There's not too much people can't do when they have their minds set to something.
Im so with you. I was raised. Outside. A small town of Pirtleville
Were you raised near Pirtleville? We don't live too far from there.
it'll be interesting how you guys do the dome top, but then everything you all have done is interesting.
Thanks Vernon! It will be a new experience for us. We're getting better at the cylinders. The dome will be a challenge.
Its great to see your progress and you are an inspiration.
Thank you!!

All three of you are amazing
Thank you!
I was so glad to see some digging in this video 😉
Got to get back to our roots.😁
You are AMAZING. God bless,xx
Thank you!!
