    Greetings from California. The first time that I was introduced to you was while streaming Bishop T.D. Jake's on last Sunday. You were the guest speaker, and you spoke on mental health in the church. I was tore up. I believe with all of my heart that you ministering on this subject is going to bring the masses back to the church. So, hats off to you mighty woman of God. I'm praying that God continually strengthens you. #mentalhealth #bishoptdjakes #dranitaphillips

    Dr Anita Phillips,
    What can I say? I’m so in awe of you and your family.
    I first saw you at the Potters House and I was deeply moved by your ministry. The anointing and the presence of God was in my living room. Thank you for allowing God to use you. I’m watching you and your parents now. Your parents are such a power house of believers. Your precious mother and her passion was heard in her prayers for those future evangelicals. Thank you. I even witness your gentleness when ministering to those who are struggling with mental and emotional trauma. I slept so much better last night. I thank you again. Thank you Jesus for using Anita most powerfully. And that you increase her abundantly. In Jesus name.

      Donna sister in Christ Jesus, it's all be the glory be to God. I am grateful to be apart of the body of Christ... He sees me, He hears me, and He knows me... Can we all still serve God if no one else knows our name... Because He does know our names... Is that enough? Amen.

    I saw Dr. Anita Phillips for the first time on Hillsong when Pastor Carl Lentz had a discussion on race in America and with the Church right now. I was blown away!! I set up a watch party of the Christine Caine interview for white friends from church to begin having some discussions about racism...especially implicit bias that people aren't aware of. I'm a follower now!! So powerful!!

    I watched the video with Christine Cain yesterday and came here to watch this today. I've been a missionary in Haiti for about 15 years and have often wondered at the differences in how people pray and do church here, but always just chalked it up to "a Haiti thing". I'm so thankful for this because it's helped me understand the roots of how people here worship and it's causing me to look at my own worship traditions in a different light. Thank you for all of this!

    I’m AA and was reared in the COGIC church so I relate to much of this! The “concert”prayer” is new to me but awesome! Expressive prayer is vital and definitely Biblical (see psalms). I LOVE the authority we pray with as it empowers and is heartfelt! Thanksgiving & praise, as well as “testimony” time is part of the AA church tradition. It is also Biblical and vital to our relationship with Christ!!

    Almost everything y'all have talked about in the traditions of prayer is how I grew up too! I grew up Pentecostal as well through the Assemblies of God - which I learned was the white split from Azusa Street (such miracles and satan still managed to divide us by color). I miss it so much - prayer services, testimony, weeks long revivals... Now days it is dismissed as emotionalism and heaven forbid we show emotions infront of everybody cuz we'll look weird to others. Bless you Dr. Phillips and your folks for ministering.

    Dr. Phillip's first I want to say that you are a breath of fresh air of the word. I love that you put us to task in our own mental stability. This is a very serious problem in our community. Lack of forgiveness, bitterness, keeping account, they all manifest in diagnosable behaviors. I am not in the mental health field but I was married to someone who had several tags attached but he refused to even face hurts more less than heal them. Anyway that is not the reason for my comments. I wondered if you have heard of Equiano Ouidah. He wrote a book about his slave capture and then his life here as a slave. When he became free he wrote his story. You are correct that we fought to hear and read the word of God, but not just because of our innate spiritualness; we fought to hear and learn the word because we recognized that they were worshipping our God. So it became needful to learn the oppressors language so we could return to the God we forsook when our ancestors denied the Messiah and consented to His death. We alsrecognize that we do not exist without God because we came from Him. A very proud heritage indeed. Keep up the good work. We need voices like yours in this age. Love ya, Yez

    The tradition of prayer began before we were called African Americans. It began with our Patriarchy: Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. WE are the Israelites of the Bible. We must come back to our God by freeing our spirits from our enemies teachings of our heritage.
    We must KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS through Christ.

  • @JesseLewisACTOR
    @JesseLewisACTOR 5 років тому +2

    I truly value Dr. Phillips knowledge and research but, I've heard her on two separate sermons where she's stated that "we" during slavery took on the spirituality of our captives. She believes that Christianity wasn't our original religion and that this belief is "trauma based worship". My question for anyone including herself is' are you stating the the bible "isnt truly our (BLACK PEOPLE'S ) history" and we are not "truly" the children of israel? And if we are not truly worshiping our original GOD, then what GOD did we worship before slavery, considering not all Blacks were slaves. Lastly, from a mental health standpoint, "how can she then support "trauma based religious conversion"? I've been praying on this and, I value all feedback. @DrAnitaPhillips

    • @fruitinspector8247
      @fruitinspector8247 4 роки тому +3

      I don't believe that the enslaved blacks were practising trauma based worship.
      We as black people are from the lineage of Adam. The original man. We are from the lineage of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
      We black race from my understanding were the first race on earth.
      Our forefathers worship the God of Abraham. We are a spiritual race. However back in the motherland as every other race some choose to serve other gods. My theory is the enslaved that were captured from Africa were the ones that worshipped other gods.
      However in times of trauma, trials and persecution they reconnected to their forefathers God... Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is was a natural transition.
      The igbos in Nigeria, it is documented of their Jewish heritage. Some still practice some Jewish feast and celebrations to date. Some tribes in Ethiopia do also. And this was way before enslavement. Am not here to bring contradiction to Dr Anita's message but to educate and enlightened anyone who might be interested. There was a documentary depicting this unfortunately l can't access it.
      Africans were not known as Christian bcos before the new testament there were no Christians.
      They worshipped Yahweh the God in the pentateuch...the Jewish God.
      In that documentary scrolls were discovered in a tomb in the continent of Africa. Africans have always been literate and possibly had the Torah before enslavement.
      What is in the history books in the USA and Europe is written to dehumanise an entire race. Hence alot of us are not fully versed in our rich and awesome lineage and history.
