its crazy that billion dollar companies can't handle one month or two months off, but they expect the common guy to do it
Thank you!!
Why? They have become Corporate Welfare Queens and know their cries will be answered by Moscow Mitch.
👏👏
100%. Why don't they have a 6-12 month savings/emergency fund all the financial gurus tell the common people to have? Oh wait, they probably do but they get bailed out so they don't have to use it.
They can't though because a lot of the money is meant to be moving through the books or held in stock etc. so they actually do need bailing out because they directly affect jobs and unemployment. It's really fascinating to see the economics of it all and to understand the pivots and strings of how it's all connected.
Cash flow is important factor
You guys should bring Chamath on as a regular guest he was great!
Yes 100%
Amen to that.
Honest capitalism must have a platform.
Then perhaps we can have sinsere discourse between right and left, and see where there is common ground.
But he is a Billionaire. You know how "Busy" they are. Maybe he is a good one though. :)
Agree 👍👍
Hell, give him his own show!
There is nothing like watching Billionaire-on-Billionaire carnage. Chamath is right, the Fed is maintaining an artificial system and rewarding bad behavior.
Started with QE every since then its been crazy.
The Fed is a hard won political instrument of the billionaire class: why shouldn't it work primarily for their welfare? He's wrong in thinking that magically it will change it's ways.
Just like how Nanci Pelosi invested a million dollars into Tesla the day before they passed an executive order that would benefit Tesla the most. We need to play all by the same rules, but we don't...Rules for thee, but not for me.
@@TRIGGEREDHarambe yup, DC is just the legislative arm of the forces that rule the country, it's not the voters. I laugh the hardest at the Democrats though, they celebrate the "blue wave" as a win for the common man, and dance with glee as their lives are made worse. It's okay though, mass job loss and inflation is negated because trans can now win women's sports competitions. Why use your brain when you can use your feelings?
Companies that have been worst run are being awarded and companies that have been saving for a rainy day are being punished. Well ain't that the truth.
And no legislation to keep them in check because they'll say that's "socialist" or what ever bullshit term
@Draco Santino Yeah, America has been in a moral nose dive since Reagan. It's sad to see America slowly grind itself to irrelevance. Really reminds me of the fall of Rome.
Matti I wonder why more people don’t do something about it. I see comments all over videos and articles, people all know it’s wrong. Can’t we have a private company that’s funded by someone like this billionaire that just tracks the problems and the bad senators and such and make it easily available for people to see come election time? Or whatever else to creatively start making a change?
The largest donors got the "help" and they got it right away.
Hmmmm, so Kodak, IBM, and Burroughs were rewarded.... where are they?
This dude made me get up in my own house and give him a standing O when I heard him on CNBC!! Thank you sir for speaking up for us 👏A billionaire telling it like it is!!
sure but he is also the guy that was part of facebook at its early stages and took advantage of all the privacy content that you willing gave away so that they could make all this money from ads etc.

Bernie said billionaires shouldn't exist, but if they were to exist, they should all be like this guy.
no, they should not exist. Period. hoarding resources literally kills the lower and middle classes.
And yet Bernie voted to give them trillions, and pennies for the 99% so f him.
If someone runs a buisness well, Paying their fair taxes, not screwing anybody over, taking good care of their employees. I don't begrudge them making Billions.

What are they doing with the huge tax breaks they got? Seems they don't like taxes, but love bailouts.
Yup they only care when they no it’s their last option to stay afloat NO MORE
They also hate socialism except when they are the ones benefiting from it.
Bought too much avocado toast, I think!
xr7fan wrong. Many of us are fine with taxes when we can see them being a true social and personal benefit. That, fair laws, and liveable wages itself would prevent much of the need for bailouts, when we're not in a pandemic.
The greedy love when the masses are taxed in order to fund the powerful class' bailouts.
This is the type of billionaire when he speaks I’ll stop and listen.
While covering his ass, you've to be smarter than to believe all these crooked billionaires.
He just want to appear holier than the rest in public eye while laughing at us in the back.
AnotherWacko Thank you!
AnotherWacko that is a very abstract idea I’d say, Elon musk is making billions while helping the world at the same time, similarly jack dorsey ceo of square and Twitter has done nothing but help the general populace. So I’d say that’s a more on the narrow spectrum of thinking
@AnotherWacko Saagar should have asked him "should billionaires exist?" That would have been an interesting discussion.
@AnotherWacko well I have met poor people that have turned out to be one of the worst pieces of shit, so that can go either way.
No business is too big to fail. Right now over leveraged corporations need to go under.
Joseph Fowler Yup agreed they had their chance if they want to stay afloat it should be completely on their backs not ours.
and decentralized systems need to rise up in their place.
I could listen to this guy talk all day! Preach Brother!
Me too! I am even looking to see if he has plans to participate in any upcoming conferences. I swear I will pay the price tag just to hear more of what he has to say.
I almost forget he's a billionaire I'm glad to see one who isn't a complete psycho.
You're falling right into his scheme. Woke capitalism is nonsense. This guy is still an oppressor.
There should have been more guardrails around these bailouts. Similar to what they did in Canada. Pay the employees salary and not just give the money to the company.
We also could just provide medical care but our govt would rather pay for insurance. It's NUTS!
Yeah, the first order of business should be keeping EVERYBODY who are forced to stay home without pay, compensation for that .. and health care provided OUTSIDE the usual money grubbing system... Next should HEALTHY businesses (who would thrive in a normal economy) be helped with costs that could topple them (rent for empty restaurants; that sort of thing).
… Speculators (and "warts" on the economy like the cruise ship industry) should be allowed to "wash away"
We would all be better off for it!
Note: this is not an "eat the rich" viewpoint. The problem is NOT success or CEO's. All healthy roles in society are appreciated. The problem is MORAL HAZARD among the powerful and DESPERATION among the powerless
@@katiekane5247they should put a cap on how much the medical field can charge. Most of the time when people go to the doctors or hospital they get charged so much money for a few minutes they actually spend in the doctor's office. They usually say your fine and give you some antibiotics and send you on your way unless it's something really serious
That would still get exploited. It is fundamentally wrong to bailout companies in an environment such as the US economy IMO.
@@mojolotz
Well, maybe, but no solutions are without downsides…
My contention is: where businesses and workers (and the unemployed) have shared interests, they should use government to protect EACH OTHER.
Will some exploit this EVEN IF these were healthy solutions? YES, but healthy solutions makes THINGS BETTER
If it is better for society to not let a business go under, why not take care of it?
If it is better for society that workers don't fall behind, why not take care of it?
EVEN SELFISHNESS DICTATES THIS
Chamath out here spitting hot fire like he always does
Nice to see a capitalist who isn't a "predatory" capitalist
Of course he is. He is just upset he can't buy companies in bankruptcy.
Not a capitalist never was and never will be you can’t have infinite growth Mother Earth will only be plundered for so long before she kills off the negative and selfish energy.
@@briandalton5527 exactly. We have number counters trying to turn a game into an empirical science. There no empirical equality in their equations. Let's be clear, mother earth nor the cosmos cares..matter doesn't care. We should though.
Duncan Bleak a capitalist goal is going to be profit and more capital if it would produce more profit. Predatory is hard to avoid.
Brian Dalton Growth is not limited by Resources, but by knowledge. More knowledge increase, if put correctly in place, output. Consider the computer industry, emerges industry as examples. First a lot of material was needed, then through innovation we got oil instead of wood, smaller chips and by now we got tiny chips needing almost no space (compare that to apollo 13) and nuclear. These things are there because of KNOWLEDGE.
Almost a year later, he's standing with WSB against short-sellers. Chamath is consistent.
He also pumps SPAC's which are one of the riskiest investment vehicles in finance. He's smart and I agree with a fair amount of what he says, but don't put him too high on a pedestal, he's out for his own gain not yours.
He nailed it. Trickle up economics.
The only capital we should be worried about is cultural and useful data.✌🏿❤️🌎

Good interview. As I've been telling people, since Reaganism, we have seen that America can do a lot with its fiscal policy. If they so chose, the politicians could overnight flip this crisis. Its all about political will. Ideology is a bigger block than finances ever was.
Logic has to take over... It makes no sense to give people access to infinite resources when in reality, said resources are finite, and there are people struggling to survive.
Limit the amount of take home profit per business owned, per position held, per year/quarter.
@@notrandom2 this is the way indeed. Capitalism is flawed in that it expects infinite profit while resources are limited. It not sustainable. At some point, we are going to deplete the world of resources we need trying to prop up capitalism.
The Real Woke Show Capitalism isn't the inherent problem simply because it breeds competition and further innovation. So within itself it's relatively beneficial, BUT that's not what's going on in the U.S since policies are being written to kneecap innovation, and protect established trillion dollar status quo at the expense of the majority of populace. We don't currently live in a "capitalist nation" we live in a corporate socialist one. For now...
Chamath really should be brought on the show more often for a few reasons:
1) he's a billionaire capitalist, the opposite of the narrative usually projected on Rising. Gives fair balance of views and perspective.
2) He doesnt dumb down the language/ rhetoric or gaslight for political expediency.
3) He's very authentic and educates. He doesnt try to patronize when speaking.
4) he's undeniably extremely successful in this system but somehow has maintained some kind of integrity in light of all of it.
I dont necessarily adopt his worldview but find can empathize with his approach to power
power.
the airline bailout makes *even* less sense now given 1) the existential threat of climate change (air quality has improved since lockdown) and 2) a potential reduction in air travel because of greater hygiene concerns and increased reliance on teleconferencing tools
In my country they are saying: when the government gives companies money, but maybe we should add requirements to it, for example climate goals for those companies and employing young people so they can get more experience.
The only billionaire I will accept seeing during the quarantine.

I wish this conversation was longer. Socialized losses, privatized gains.
Palihaptiya! Thanks for caring
They just print money when they need it.. the "How do you pay for it?" is total bullshit.
And every time that is done the currency loses more and more value!..
@@jlons5586 Inflation is the word. It happened to Venezuela, and I forgot which African Country had it worst, but both currencies are useless.
Hector, in todays' economies, when that money is invested in people to be expressed as consumer demand, capitalists respond to that demand with increased production. That increased production (more goods and services for the money to chase) keeps inflation down. It is only when money chases the same number of products that inflation occurs. In Venezuela and Africa, the currency became useless because the printing of monies was not spread amongst the population, so there was no reason for capitalists to create more goods.
@@jlons5586 is it really losing value when you improve education, infrastructure and adjust economic imbalances.

Who’s here after he supported us Redditors!?
So how do we move this forward? Very frustrated by what is happening!! Not feeling empowered to have any impact on the corrupt system of government that is heading up so much economic suffering to the ordinary working person. What can I or anyone else do, in the form of activism, to change this???
Yes. this exactly! Action needs to taken.
To answer the question, it looks like a general strike is the only thing that will bring the oligarchy to their senses and realise they cant keep benefiting at everyone else's expense. That was the main reason FDR had to come up with the original New Deal when the Wall St sociopaths in that day drove the country in a great depression, wasnt it. The only way to make greedy capitalist failures and their craven political enablers see reason is to put the fear into em. But Americans have so little practice in fighting back en masse, often thanks to a complaisant media in collusion with the very thieves screwing the working and middle class. Maybe seeing (once a fkn again) how little the politicans/gov s they 'elected' are willing to do for them vs what theyre prepared to do for the v rich and powerful will finally convince them to revolt or fight back.
I’m so glad he got to share these messages/viewpoints here. Very eye-opening
