The 60's Chevy Camaro Commercial. Its the FIRST ever Camaro Commercial. Imagine How Awesome It was back in those days. Thats nothing compared to the Brand new one from Transformers.
I was around back then. I remember this commercial, and it was a blockbuster as far as commercials went at the time. Most 60's commercials aren't this elaborate. This commercial is like a Charleton Heston movie! Put it together with the Camaro itself, which was powerful, good looking, and fairly inexpensive, made it the hit it still is today.
Cool commercial, my dad still has his 1967 camaro, I remember him taking me to kindergarden in it, it was a plain jane six cylinder car back then, it has since been resotred and now has the big car engine, lol. Its awsome.
I love the first generation camaros especially the 1969 with the more aggressive look. Only 3 years with that body style. Too bad the beautiful card debut at the end of the sixty's era.
I bought a new '69 SS w/396 in it when I got out of the service.. it wasn't the fastest car on the road, I didn't win all the time .. just gave Mustangs and Road Runners a fit trying to catch me. I got married 2 years later.. and when my first son came.. I had to decide to pay for the car or pay the hospital bills.. My son won.. I don't regret the decision but damn I still miss that car!
@Coolkid89383 what was the 310 hp engine then? LS2? What power output was the LS1? You can't compare the Corvette to the Shelby. The Corvette is a two seater sports car while the Shelby is a Muscle car. A fair match up would be the Corvette and the FORD GT.
when I was 19 I got a "67 Camaro, granada gold with wide black stripes. I put chrome wheels on it. ..wish I still had it. I bought a new '74 because I wanted air conditioning.. (The '69 was really imposing, too!)
Those were the days when you could actually order your car at the dealer. There were hundreds of option variations and at least a dozen standard exterior colors. Today's cars maybe come in 2-3 variations w/6 or so exteriors colors and that's it. American cars then were unique and interesting to look at compared to today's plastic boxes.
Actually this is NOT the first ever Camaro commercial ever produced. I very distinctly remember seeing the commercial in which the Camaro was introduced to the public...the car was covered and a cowboy with a bullwhip kept knocking away pieces of the cover until the car was completely exposed. It was a very memorable commercial and I remember thinking at the time that the Camaro was the best looking car to come out of Detroit.
Chevrolet corrected styling issues w/the 1969They made the car more aggressive and sales improved dramatically. The 1969 was intended to be a two year run but the new body style for 1970 was ready ahead of schedule. There were actually mock-ups of the 1969 but w/1970plates and small styling changes. The 1969 Camaro is the favorite of muscle/classic car collectors and by far more valuable than the 1967-68 models even if one prefers the first two year's styling.
That's what I thought too but I did a little research and they where in the '67's. I don't know always thought the 350 turbo fire was introduced in '69 as well.
that car was made 5 mins from my house at the norwood assembly plant a enclave of cincinnati my father work at Norwood 1956 to Aug 1987 when the plant was closed after spending 350 millon in updates in 81 to build the 82 six months later roger smith said norwood would be building Chevrolet products for another 60 years at less in 5 years they closed it. now you know why G.M. WENT UP IN SMOKE. the birthplace of the camaro.
@CubsFan2812 I know an adult can fit, I've fit before, but tell me this would you be more comfortable in the backseat of a Camaro or a Cadillac? And also, I think the 5th Gen Camaros are the roomiest yet, try fitting COMFORTABLY in an older Camaro.
Damn that car is fucking legend, no fucking Supra, Audi, BMW, Nissan or Honda can match that. Its fucking legend of muscle car history, also know as; "Camaro- the small animal that eats Mustangs"
Ford: Keeping auto repair shops in business since 1903...bless the Camaro. Gonna get me the 2012 Camaro SS (Z28 too much HP for me, V6 too little) which will also have a much-needed upgrade of an interior in which GM claims.
fuck! with an add like this makes u buying a mustang in those days like an old guy DUDE!!!! im going to my chevy dealer to get that car NOW!!! no not the the all new one THAT ONE!!!!!!
Looks like the commercial was made by the producers of Star Trek. You would expect Captain Kirk and the landing party to appear from behind the rocks and sparks to check it out.
My family owned the 250 ci 6 cyl version of this volcanic wonder. 2 speed powerglide transmission. It got 20 MPG! During the price war between Sunoco and Esso gas. You could get Sunoco grade 190 for 19.9 cents a gallon! That's a lot of cheap driving kids. The only thing that broke on the car (excepting normal wear items like brakes) in 120K miles was the mechanical voltage regulator, distibutor, and water pump. All very cheap to fix. Then the car rusted out in typical GM fashion.
@Coolkid89383 I thought it was cheap that it used the exact same interior as the Lincoln LS even though I am a Ford dude. Ford should of came up with something unique/retro like what the Mustang has to put in the T-Bird.
The two people that dislike this video drive Mustangs...
I want one! I can't wait till they come out!
When GM decided to put together a car to compete with Fords pony car , they did it right ...67-69 Camaros are just a sweet looking ride !
We all know the camaro is superior to the mustang.

The sales pitch makes me wanna buy the car now
The car just looks so damn good here. Makes me crave that blacked out SS grill and 4-speed.
Truly miss all 3 of my 1st generation Camaros
fucking lucky
Happy Birthday Camaro
The announcer makes me think of epic meal time, and the car makes me wish they still made cars like that.
I rather have this camaro than a new one from 2016
Maybe from a collectors standpoint I would agree but that new ZL-1 is a SICK machine my friend
Then go get one! All talk and no walk!
Cool commercial, my dad still has his 1967 camaro, I remember him taking me to kindergarden in it, it was a plain jane six cylinder car back then, it has since been resotred and now has the big car engine, lol. Its awsome.
I'll have ten!
Just as long as they're made in a factory, I have an allergy to hopping in cars made out of lava...
Pure insanity! I love it.
Ive always wanted a Camaro since I first saw it and after seeing this ad, I CRAVE it even more...
Great commercial! That was such an awesome car! I like the SS 396 with a 4 speed the most though. But that 350 still had some nice power though.

Back seat up... Back seat down! lol
@296jayce Camaro debuted in Sept. of 1966. When it was first being developed, they had it slated to be named Panther, but then changed it to Camaro.
The 1967 Camaro ROCKS!!! The 2009 model should be just as sweet!
I HAVE THIS CAR!!!! HA HA HA!!! thanks for posting!!

that's the longest commercial i've ever seen in my life
when I was 19 I got a "67 Camaro, granada gold with wide black stripes. I put chrome wheels on it. ..wish I still had it. I bought a new '74 because I wanted air conditioning.. (The '69 was really imposing, too!)
I love how it drives itself
love these, my friend has a '69 Z28 hes restoring
So far the 1 gen Camaro are where the resale is. Would you rather sink 50K into a 5th gen or have a 50K classic?
I will take the classic any day.
thanks for sharing! very interesting!

Yes, yes they did. Challengers and Camaros are bring it back, hopefully. We shall find out soon enough, now won't we.

Yea but I think I spend more time looking up old commercials than I do watching new ones on TV. lol so at least they're good xD
That's what I thought too but I did a little research and they where in the '67's. I don't know always thought the 350 turbo fire was introduced in '69 as well.

This one seems to be sitting a bit high on its springs?
@CubsFan2812 I know an adult can fit, I've fit before, but tell me this would you be more comfortable in the backseat of a Camaro or a Cadillac? And also, I think the 5th Gen Camaros are the roomiest yet, try fitting COMFORTABLY in an older Camaro.
jesus christ you can tell this was made before the 30 second commercial rule
Was that a electronic swtich that put the backseat down?
"Back seat up! Back seat down!"
Damn that car is fucking legend, no fucking Supra, Audi, BMW, Nissan or Honda can match that. Its fucking legend of muscle car history, also know as; "Camaro- the small animal that eats Mustangs"
Camaro! loaded with saftey features! Camaro! bulky body to surround the 350 engine! Camaro!!...Camaro!!

@tutternbubba well there was but it was a prototype, they didnt start selling it until 2010.
@tutternbubba bumblebee form 1 was a 76/77 camaro.

Ford: Keeping auto repair shops in business since 1903...bless the Camaro. Gonna get me the 2012 Camaro SS (Z28 too much HP for me, V6 too little) which will also have a much-needed upgrade of an interior in which GM claims.
@jCarqusetd I can't remember his name, but he did the Chevy commercial voice overs for quite a few years, staring in the early 60's.
fuck! with an add like this makes u buying a mustang in those days like an old guy DUDE!!!! im going to my chevy dealer to get that car NOW!!! no not the the all new one THAT ONE!!!!!!

@MaximusRelaximus It wasn't cheesy at the time it came out. They knew how to market to their potential clients.
GOD I LOVE FBODYS!.
I watched this commercial though I not only do not own a Camaro I keep my truck much much longer.
Cool!!!! Now this was back when they acutally built a real car and not the cheap plastic things they make today!!!!

Fuck, why can't car commercials be like this today :/
I want to see shit rise from a volcano again :(
oh wait, I can just replay this video :)
Looks like the commercial was made by the producers of Star Trek. You would expect Captain Kirk and the landing party to appear from behind the rocks and sparks to check it out.
Car ads were so much better in the old days.
Is 1969 VIN#0001 around??? Please find it!
When American cars were No. 1 in the World! This used to be a hell of a good country!
@390merc65 does it even matter who sold what lets see the mustang was out longer than the camaro so of course it will get more sells.
@corvetteracer916 oh ok, thanx, and do u think that ford is better than chevy?
wut year is this, like wut year did gm put out the camaro's?
wow, thats when u could get a camaro. for a new one with a v8 they want like 50 and theres no way a camaro should ever be that much
love it lol
my sig on g-faqs is close to that:"camaro: a small vicious animal that eats mustangs"
@TheChevelleSS396 NO LIE ON THAT!!!
My family owned the 250 ci 6 cyl version of this volcanic wonder.
2 speed powerglide transmission.
It got 20 MPG!

if only they did something like that for the 1970 aar cuda
1967 ad. GM spent alot of money on this ad and it shows.
i dont think i can handle those headlights
Why can't all car commercials be like this?
because all cars aren't camaro
@lasuvidaboy The only features I seen for new cars are with plasti chrome or plasti carbonfiber.
Active volcano + Camaro = extensive restoration work =(
wow , I always thought the 350 started in '69
@Coolkid89383 I thought it was cheap that it used the exact same interior as the Lincoln LS even though I am a Ford dude. Ford should of came up with something unique/retro like what the Mustang has to put in the T-Bird.
epic
Now that's how you sell a car!

Back seat up! Back seat down!
