      Symbolic of America’s victory in the Cold War, gained through outspending the USSR’s war machine rather than outfighting it.
      It was, arguably, a Pyhrric victory, however. Without the fall of the USSR there would have been no Gulf War 1, no Gulf War 2, and no Syrian Civil War.
      Whether there would still have been an invasion of Afghanistan after 9/11 is more uncertain. The Soviets would have been delighted to see the US bogged down fighting the same radical Islamic fighters it had been helping to fight the Soviet Army in the 1980’s - but less happy to have US forces operating near the Soviet southern border.

      joseph king true. It was supposed to be opened for the upcoming may day festivities.
      But, when the accident happened, they opened up the attractions to keep the people busy/ distracted.
      ... (if I remember correctly) for about 2 days before they actually decided to evacuate.

      actually i did a bit of research after seeing the spacecraft on another similar video. Unfortunately a few years back there was a storm that hit the area very hard and the warehouse roof caved in destroying the aircraft... and the aircraft itself hasn't seen space (back in the day they would build a few of these aircrafts just in case)

    • @GoodVideos4
      @GoodVideos4 7 років тому +4

      The Soviet Space Shuttle was also an upgrade of the American one. It could go on a space mission unmanned. There was apparently only one that was completed, called Buran (Snowstorm or Blizzard). It did one unmanned space mission. The warehouse roof collapsed on it.
      With trying to restoring them, they'd also be 30 years old.
      One was taken to a museum near Frankfurt in Germany.

    • @GoodVideos4
      @GoodVideos4 7 років тому

      I also once thought that it would have been good if they could have been restored by American and Russian technicians. Then, used by both countries, as a temporary replacement of the retired American ones, until the upcoming actual replacements.

Two of them are the type that you see in the video one with a tender (going to the museum) and one that doesn’t. Also the carriages there supposedly carried Jews around which is why no one has touched them as the are linked to such a terrible thing.

    Pripyat 1970 is the sign at the Chernobyl section. Pripyat can be accessed via tours from Kiev $100. The Ferris wheel was due to open 5 days after the disaster not before, its an amazing place to visit as is the rest of the Ukraine.

    Two things. The space shuttles in the beginning were only 70% complete and never saw space. Just watched the video that you got the pictures from. They stated that in the video.
    The second thing is the fair grounds near prypiat (sorry for spelling) never opened. The disaster happened the day before it was to open. You make good videos. Keep your credibility!

    One missing place is Kantubek, a town on Vozrozhdeniya Island in the middle of the Aral Sea on the border of Uzbekistan and Kazakstan. The town was a research facility for the Soviet biological weapons program. They used the island as an open-air test site, testing weaponized anthrax and other germs on livestock.
    The town is still there and because the Aral Sea is drying up, it’s no longer on an island.

    Couple of things you got wrong about Chernobyl:
    1. While the area is irradiated, most everywhere within the Exclusion Zone is actually relatively safe and is not shut-down, just restricted. In fact, a few people never left their homes during the evacuation (almost exclusively farmers) and suffer no ill-effects. Even workers and police patrols stay within the city. You can book a tour of the city and get decently close to the reactor building for relatively cheap with quite a few tour guides, you can even stay in 3 hotels within the city. One is modern and gorgeous while another offers a more... 1980's Soviet feel, it's the private tours that are very expensive. Food and water can add up too. The most dangerous parts of The Zone are the buildings themselves. 30+ years of decay have made a lot of the buildings unstable. I read that sometime in 2011 a tour group fell through the floor of an abandoned apartment and they had to change the guidelines and restricted which buildings tour guides were allowed to bring a group through, though oddly I can't find any evidence of it other than a reference to the change on Chornobyl's tourism website.
    2. The evacuees didn't leave most of their belongings because of a panic or because no one knew how to deal with the crisis, they left their things because they were lied to by the government as they wanted to avoid political backlash and a drop of trust with the people; even though citizens were already starting to develop symptoms of radiation poisoning. More than a day after the accident they were told they had to evacuate and to only take a few things such as clothes, documents, and some food as they would be back after a short period of time. They never returned.
    3. Very few 'dare' to venture to the power plant because it's a construction zone as they've constantly been repairing the old rusting sarcophagus that was hastily built over the destroyed reactor core, and recently have been building a new one that covers the building entirely (which should have been common knowledge by the time this video was uploaded on UA-cam, the new containment building was put in place November 2016). You can get close, but no less than 200 meters.

    You're calling USSR an empire? How dare you call my former nation an empire? I was born in an "invaded(lmfao)" country, Kazakhstan and my family moved to a new country because the old socialist system was far better than the new capitalist system. So why are you calling USSR an empire? Having other countries' soil? Having sattelite states? Having military bases in foreign nations?
    Sounds familiar right?
    With that logic, the US is the ultimate empire here.
    With its over a thousand foreign military bases, occupied territories, sattelite states and invasions of poor countries, let me remid you some of them. Grenada, Iraq, Yugoslavia, Libya, Afghanistan(funny because you supported them when they were fighting against us and you even called them freedom fighters, now they are the terrorists), Cuba, Vietnam, and much much more. Your empire will eventually collapse along with the North Atlantic Terrorist Organization.

    Pripyat isn’t as super irradiated as you make it out to be, you can walk around for a long time with no special gear and be perfectly fine, its recommended you don’t eat anything, but you can also get in fairly easily from what I’ve heard
