Nureons are long-lasting cells, meaning they last as long as you live. For the most part. Trauma to the brain will lead to issues like football, boxing, mma, etc. Neurons can make different connections off of one Axon. But the phagocytosis is mostly dead T lymphocytes (cleaning cells), protiens, fats, and carbohydrates. These T lymphocytes are used for viruses (amebias maybe) cancer. T lymphocytes also go around looking for pathogens like bacteria and put markers on the cell membrane. You will have a B lymphocyte and it will go around and search for these markers to destroy the bacteria. But yes if you lose blood to the brain, some ingredients makes its way though the blood brain barrier (literally blood is about the only thing you want entering) drugs like meth can make its way past the B.B.B. and break it down. Anyway... brain is mostly fat and water... soooo your brain will never shrink or change density really you just lose neurons and yes those get re-absorbed... no they don't get repaired. That's why brain damage is permanent.

We dissected owl pellets too!! I could be wrong, but always thought the owl pellets were what the owl regurgitated back up through their mouth, similar to a hair ball 🤷♀️ not that that's much better 🤣

We dissected an owl pellet in grade school also. I remember that experience well. All the girls were squealing in disgust and horror at the bones. 😂

I doubt they use "bum prints" for legal identification. Probably just some silly science experiment that someone spent way too much money on... hopefully didn't come from our taxes. LOL

Except the brain. The neurons in the central nervous system are not repairable... especially with today's medicine. You lose neurons through out life. Like impacts ect. Though the brain doesn't shrink from this because the brain is mostly fat and water.

An owl pellet isn’t what you think it is. Since they don’t have teeth, they swallow their food whole and regurgitate all the undigestible parts in a little pellet. So don’t worry, you didn’t dissect their ____. 🙂
