Guys, greetings and thanks from the UK. My machine is about seven years old now and had previously been sent away to be cleaned & serviced (at a cost of £70) when the coffee flow started puking out the back of the nozzles. It just started to do this again. I didn't fancy that cost again so thought I'd have a go at cleaning it properly myself. Your video on how to take it all apart and take the door off etc gave me the confidence to have a go and... .. it worked perfectly. A nice clean flow of hot coffee again. Will make sure I give it a more thorough clean now. Cheers!
Finally a good repair video on this machine. Couldn't figure out how to pull the infuser out until I watched, I never knew the machine had to run thru the power off cycle. I took my infuser plate off and cleaned the stainless plate with oven cleaner, the caked on coffee was causing an off flavor in my coffee.
My machine’s spout cracked and leaks. This video is exactly what I needed to fix my machine. The nearest repair shop is a 2 hr drive each way. I enjoy repairing my machine -- it is a steady performer for many years. I make many cappuccinos each day and had the cleaning down well. I now feel confident to replace my door w/ the spout in place. Thanks guys, time for a Kahlua capachino
My spout cracked and leaked too. I followed this video to pull it all apart. I rang my repair place who told me that they would just super glue the crack if I'd brought it in. So I did. Brilliant video. Thanks guys.
Thank you guys, you are awesome! So much needed this video, why hasn't DeLonghi posted one like it??? A brilliant machine supplying me with my daily drug supply (wonderful freshly-ground coffee), nicely made machine too, so you saved my bacon when the fragile control button plastic moulded 'spring' levers broke of the on/off button broke (after 9 glorious years of fault-free use, I'm not complaining!). Easy to take apart and reassemble with your superb video. I am writing to DeLonghi so suggest they offer you both honorary Vice Presidentships of the company (!!!) Best wishes.
Thank you very much for this video. Today I found the infuser in a weird position... I was about to find a specialist who could fix this problem. But at the beginning of your video, you explained the cause of this problem and the solution to fix it. It was very simple and it fixed the infuser's position. Thanks again!!!
Guys- this is still a great video that I have watched a bunch of times. I recently had the common issue of a leaking spot (it sprung a leak in the centre of the sliding piece). Your video is the go-to guide for self repair of the perfecta! Overall great machine, and great video!
So helpful! We were gifted this machine, but it kept saying the coffee bin was full. Your video helped me know how to clean it and get it to work. Thanks!
Excellent video guys saved me I’m sure a huge repair Bill - door was popping open when brewing & turning off - phoned DeLonghi & they referred me to nearest dealer - searched UA-cam & voila found u2! I prefer bourbon & a cigar! Thanks a bunch fellas/loved your banter too!
Thanks guys, was about to spend another few dollars for repairs when I watched this video I figured out that the last issue could have been resolved by watching your video. It has been helpful and also included a few preventative issues that I know will arise. Keep up the great work!
My switch button was broke and the spout broke, from which it was leaking. Your guide helped me fix the espresso machine. 😄 Good job, guys. 👍👏 Greetings from Poland. 👋
Thanks so much for this detailed video guys. My spout has cracked and I wasn’t confident I could get to it. I have glued it up now and it’s great but I think I’ll source a replacement anyway. After you taste the coffee following the full clean you realise just how badly it was needed!
Thanks for this video! I had coffee coming out of one noozle only .... I just cleaned inside the door following your instructions and saved money and hassle. Problem sorted!
A well-spent Saturday morning cleaning my machine. Thanks for the instructional video. Every spring that could come off did come off and I was ready for them.
Great video guys!! It was invaluable when I needed to replace my door and saved me some $ and having to be without my beloved DeLonghi Perfecta for several days :)
Can I see a big thanks to you guys. I had the problem where it leaks led behind the back of the spouts and constantly asked to be emptied. This is a keeper
Great vid guys. Thanks. It really helped. Too bad these machines are scarce now. So are parts. The Phillips ones don’t hold a candle to the Perfectas. It’s all in the long lasting crema they produce. The Phillips don’t do that. I took mine completely apart today. It was a gonner. “Grind to fine error” it turned out my generator piston was super gunked up and lots of the holes were clogged. I spent hours checking everything else in a hidden diagnostic test mode these machines have and traced the problem to the generator. I took a gamble and tore it completely apart and cleaned the heck out of it with a brush and warm water. Banda-Bing, back in business!
Thanks for the video guys, first time watching. I really need to do a thorough cleaning of this kind for the exact same machine (the Bay $899, $1000 off regular price)
Hi guys, just watched, awesome vid, i will be tackling mine tonight, maybe I should video it, i make atleast 10 coffees a day had the machine for about 5yrs and no maintenance, so I'm expecting a bit of filth haha
Same here. Awesome video and very easy step by step instructions with key areas highlighted. I would pause when needed and go back to watch the key points again. Thanks heaps!
Awesome guys. I was just checking to see what I could use at home for de-scaling (vinegar supposedly), and now I'm tearing my machine apart because the milk spout was gross. Thanks
Don’t know why you say to keep soap away from the infuser. I’ve had my ESAM5400 for over 20 years and have always put the diffuser in a dishwasher run with all my kitchen stuff at 60°C, obviously the soap tablet washes the diffuser intensively during its hour-long run - there has never been a problem, in fact no problem whatsover with this amazing machine during all of the 20+ years. Brilliant Italian engineering!
Great video!!!! I’ve been getting an error that the grounds are too fine to insert the water spout. I’m only 5 mins into your video so I’m hoping you go over that because I inserted the water spout, hit ok it doesn’t fix it. I know you can’t adjust the grinds without it grinding according to Delonghi. I have the Gram Dama, sadly they discontinued this machine. I’ve had this model for 10 years and 7 years ago I had to buy a new one. 😩. We went out of town and there was a bad storm and damaged it. It would no longer work. So I definitely recommend unplugging it if you go out of town. I’m still watching video and I’m half way through, if you haven’t gone over the error ‘Ground too fine adjust grinder and insert water spout and press ok.’ I didn’t change any settings and this just popped up. If I unplug the machine it resets but once I start making a latte it stops and the error comes up. ???
Great Video guys! I just have a question. When I do the discaling, and follow all the steps, water doesn't come from the sprout. Which part of the machine should I clean so that it works?
Hey guys you are great, question, today my Esam5600 has General Alarm message, when I went to remove the tray didn’t come out , the diffuser is stuck down, did everything on the book, nothing, any suggestions? Will appreciate it
Thanks a lot! Can you please make a video of replacing a few of the parts, like that plastic piece you mentioned that was causing a leak? Couldn't find anything online.
Great maintenance video, thanks. I'm trying to fix an issue with mine. The water does come out of the steamer/hot water dispenser, but something appears to be stuck and I cannot make coffee or rinse it. Any hints on where the problem could be?
I've had this machine for 4.5 years just with regular maintenance and never had to go this deep... Also never saw such coffee residu or similar deposits... Yeah the occasional coffee here and there but no similar problems. Machine has more than 5600 coffees made.
Super sharp video ! I have a problem, I did find anyone with the same problem yet, could you help me please ? My Perfecta 5500b is brand new, I have used it 3 weeks so far. The infuser is stuck in a way that prevents the door from closing, and the infuser reset procedure doesn't do anything. So I am completely stuck. This happened because I am new to this and I tried to remove the infuser out of position. What can I do to remove it, or to put it back into normal position ? Thanks much!
Normally when you unplug the unit wait 30 seconds and plug it back it automatically resets the infuser to the default position. Is that happening or it doesn’t move ?
How to replace the brew head orange o rings would help the novice. I have this machine for 10 years and the first few years I knew nothing. This is a great machine, so well made and with a bit of care will last a lifetime.
Fuck yeah !!! Broke my water/steam button earlier and nearly had a heart attack !!! Saw your vid . Found 1 set of new buttons on ebay (the only set on there) and perfecta !!! Well done guys . Videos like this save people a shit load of money and really bad headaches . Cheers !!!
Just bought this model Perfecta today, all works well in good nic for a older unit, and best part only $100, Just don't have the eco function in the Australian models
Hi guys fantastic video I fixed my perfecta that I had previously given up on. Everything is working now except I keep getting the message “insert milk container” even when the milk jug is in. Could you please let me know how to fix this? Thanks guys
Great video guys, thank you. I always empty the grounds container EVERY time I make a coffee. Why? Because if I leave them inside and the door closed, humidity from the steam when making very quickly causes mould to form in the grounds which then necessitates thorough cleaning and even disinfecting-some moulds can be very dangerous to health.
Thanks for the video! This machine of mine's bean grinder is no longer working. I wonder if there is any quick fix? Possible to make a video? I can't find any online. thanks!
Great video! We bought a very similar machine (although a newer version) and I just did the whole maintenance thing as you guys. I was able to follow all the steps perfectly. Very good shots and great explanations. And I'm very glad you took the time to show the whole re-assembly since many people leave that out and then you're kind of stuck. Way to go!
Great video! Thanks guys! My machine is not recognizing the water spout. Keeps on saying Insert water spout? Any one else have this issue. Would love some suggestions how to fix!
Hi guys thanks a lot for the very good and complete video. I have a problem with my machine, no water comes out of it and a very strong noise is made with some different messages. Could I give you more information to get some more help? thanks in advance for your help. Kind regards
Thank you for this helpful video 👍 I have a question if you can help me with it; my coffee is just warm not hot. Even when using the highest temperature sitting. Is that normal. Thank you
Very good video. My machine recently started to take longer to heat up, sometimes starting again right after preparing a drink. It's also releasing some steam from the steam wand in the heating up process. I have always cleaned and descaled it regularly. I have also a brand new milk jug. Do you guys have any suggestions, please?
Hi, Guys! Great video. One of my daughters didn't know how to add water to our Delonghi Perfecto. She opened the ground coffee shoot and said that must be it and poured water into that spout. Water was everywhere and she unknowingly turned the unit upside down. We dried it out as best as we could, but the only thing we see on the screen is "Insert grounds container." I have recycled the power and replaced the grounds container several times without success. I removed the bottom and there is no water at the switch for the grounds container. What can I do?
Great video guys. Thank you. I have exactly the same model and the water leaks whenever I descale or make cappuccino, but it does not leak when making espresso. I followed your video to open up the machine, made a cup of cappuccino to observe. The water leaks (gushes out) at the part where the black cube sitting over a brass component which has 2 or 3 water tubes connected to it. The black cube has the CEME 120-60 stamped on it. Can you help to identify the part and perhaps give me some ideas where to start checking? I have pic of the spot where the water came out. I called Delonghi but they never called back. Thanks. Hai
+HDPsr7 sorry for the late reply. We suggest you call Delonghi and only ask them to give you you local authorized service providers number and address. Call them and you will likely be able to get the exact part you need from them.
Just adding another comment here (just noticed that I added one 3 years ago) - keep coming back to this great video every time I have to do any cleanup or repair work on this machine. One of the best DIY videos that I've used.
This is a very helpful video. What about a video to clean the Delonghi bean to cup caffe venezia? I alsow can't find a video off how to use cleaning tablets in my Delongi bean to cup coffee machine. Can I just put the tablet in my water tank like a descaling tablet, and then turn on the descaling program? The caffè vevezia does not have a cleaning program, only descaling.
Hey guys, great information in this video! I have that exact machine for a couple of years now and have been very happy with it until the other day.I started getting a message "grinds too fine adjust mill" and "insert water spout". I did everything it said to no avail. The grinder works fine but when it comes to pouring out the coffee, nothing comes out. It sounds very weak and then then a loud continuous clicking sound until the pouring cycle ends. Any advice? Thanks in advance!
@@69drown yeah mine too. See you wrote this a month ago, did you solve it? I`m going to research this in coming weeks, weeks due too lack of time for hobbies. The pump is obviusly working, and as i understand it`s simple constructiom. It either works or not. Assuming that`s correct i will dissassemble and follow the path of the water to see if i can find some kind of blocking. If i remember i will write here again.
HI! Thank you for a very useful video. I have a problem to submit to you. Could you show us how to open the front panel with the screen, because I have a problem of bad contact inside. When I push on to it, it lights when I relieve the pressure it goes off. This concern only this little screen the rest of the screen works perfectly. Thanks for your help.
I have this machine, and it has made excellent coffee for years. Now the other day its sound changed when it was making coffee - and no coffee came out. Nothing from the coffee spouts - and no clean water from the water spout either. It grinds the coffee - but it doesn’t pump water at all. It just pushes the grinded coffee beans into the bucket. Do you have any idea what could be wrong?
Hey guys. Thanks for this great video. Got the same machine and had some of those problems too. Now after more than 1 year i got another problem: milk! When i want to get some creamy fluffy milk the pump starts but cant pump the milk up in the inside of the machine so all i get is air and some condensewater. How i clean the inner part of the milk system? I always use the cleaning function - i often clean the milk containers (got 2 of them) and i use the DeLonghi milk cleaning stuff (10ml and 90ml water to clean the inside) I tried ti clean inner parts but i didnt found where - maybe you can help out?
Have you tried to flip the straw and push it in harder ? Also the spout of the container and the lever can be pulled out of the lid. Did you clean those items al loose or did you put it in as a whole ? Also, we will check out the other video! Thanks!
Hi. Great video. I have a slightly different model ECAM 20.110, but i think they are quite similar inside. I have had one before that died after 14 months, and my current model is 16 months old, and seem to get the same problem. When the machinemis turned on, the cleaning cycle start normally and the wather is pumped into the machine. However it does not run thru coffee nozzles, but is running into the tray in the bottom. It malkes the coffee and at turn off, the cleaning cycle repeats and cleans the nozzles. At the end this will also stop, and nozzles are stuck. Sending the machine to the repairshop is more expensive than bying a new machine, so I really would appreciate any idea. It is probably just a small silicone ring that is broken Thanks
Amazing video guys! Can I have you over to check mine? Lol I wonder if you can identify what is the problem with mine? It’s about 5 years old, I turned it off and unplugged when was going away When I returned and plug it back , the coffee started to drip instead of pour , eg its like making espresso instead of coffee, feels there is no water pressure- takes forever to make s full cup and the quantity of water seems smaller that it shall be … repair no everywhere in Toronto about three weeks wait time … is there os anything I can try myself? I cleaned the machine’s removable parts and the grinder
Hello guys. I just bought This coffee machine and after the first start showing the GENERAL ALARM message. I already cleared the machine. What can be the problem thank you for your help.
when the lights comes on , and the infuser unit is in the down position , it makes normal initial noises and then it strains and screeches as it goes up , and the triange light comes on with the 2 cup lights . I have changed the O rings and lubricated the infuser unit and all i can get to without taking the generator out . what do you think is going on ?
Thx! I am 64yr old woman and I took machine apart and fixed the switches thx to this video.
Amazing! That’s why we want to make more videos like this!
I reference this video every time I take apart our machine for a "FULL" clean. Even when I think I know how all the parts go together I'll find myself with a left over screw LOL. Thanks for saving us hundreds in service calls!
+Jon Swatton glad we can help!! Thanks so much
This helped us out a lot! It's very empowering to be able to fix these things yourself, so that we don't have to keep throwing away and re-buying!
Thanks so much. My friend was throwing his machine out because it leaked. I took it from him and followed this video. It now works perfectly!
Happy we can help
Thank you guys, you are awesome! So much needed this video, why hasn't DeLonghi posted one like it??? A brilliant machine supplying me with my daily drug supply (wonderful freshly-ground coffee), nicely made machine too, so you saved my bacon when the fragile control button plastic moulded 'spring' levers broke of the on/off button broke (after 9 glorious years of fault-free use, I'm not complaining!). Easy to take apart and reassemble with your superb video. I am writing to DeLonghi so suggest they offer you both honorary Vice Presidentships of the company (!!!)
Best wishes.
Thank you very much for this video. Today I found the infuser in a weird position... I was about to find a specialist who could fix this problem. But at the beginning of your video, you explained the cause of this problem and the solution to fix it. It was very simple and it fixed the infuser's position. Thanks again!!!
Just replaced coffee dispenser as my one had a crack in it... thanks so much for easy guide ... saved me loads on getting it repaired 👍
Guys- this is still a great video that I have watched a bunch of times. I recently had the common issue of a leaking spot (it sprung a leak in the centre of the sliding piece). Your video is the go-to guide for self repair of the perfecta! Overall great machine, and great video!
Well done❤
Great video. Was starting to think I needed a replacement and now back to like new operation. Thanks a ton!
Thank you. I’m house sitting. Been a couple of years since I emptied grounds and added water. Phew! You walked me through it 👍
So helpful! We were gifted this machine, but it kept saying the coffee bin was full. Your video helped me know how to clean it and get it to work. Thanks!
Best maintenance video ever! Saved my but on more than one occasion! Thanks gentlemen!
Thank you for the clear instructions! I’m not at all handy, but was able to successfully service my machine thanks to your video.
Liked your video very clear instructions, easy to follow and must do once in a while. Thank you.
Meant to ,
Mention I have Perfecta 5600 - like new now thanks!
Good job, guys. 👍👏
Greetings from Poland. 👋
Just viewed this video.
Excellent instructions!
Cleaned my machine and ordered a new box with the spout. Thank you!
Thanks so much for this detailed video guys. My spout has cracked and I wasn’t confident I could get to it.
I have glued it up now and it’s great but I think I’ll source a replacement anyway.
After you taste the coffee following the full clean you realise just how badly it was needed!
Were you able to get a replacement spout. I've just glued mine today. I'm not sure if you can still get replacement parts a machine this old.
@@weezylistening lol, I glued mine too and it’s been fine. I’m pretty sure I saw spouts available online though. Keep searching.
Thanks Mark. I'll have a look. I'm glad the gluing worked though.... I'm about to put it all back together today..... NEED a coffee 🤣
Thank you so very much, you helped us so much this morning!!! 2021, and your "wisdom" is so appreciated. Louise et Marc (Québec)

Thank you sooo much for that video! It helps me every time i need to repair or clean my coffee machine : D
You guys just saved me heaps of money. Brilliant video. Very clear. Thank you.
Good stuff guys. And great that this machine is built to be serviceable
This is a golden video for my DeLonghi! Thank you!
Great video! Was looking for a way to fix my broken power button. This video is Gold!
Watched the whole video and cleaned my machine. Thank you!
This is EXACTLY what I was looking for! Thanks fellas!
Thanks for this, it really fills a need. Keep it up and keep up the banter. Cheers

Shoppers Therapy no noice at all.
Sorry for the bad news but it seems the motor that drives the infuser is dead. You need to send it in to a repair center. :(
Thanks a lot! Can you please make a video of replacing a few of the parts, like that plastic piece you mentioned that was causing a leak? Couldn't find anything online.

Hi guys thanks a lot for the very good and complete video. I have a problem with my machine, no water comes out of it and a very strong noise is made with some different messages. Could I give you more information to get some more help? thanks in advance for your help. Kind regards
Thank you for this helpful video 👍
I have a question if you can help me with it; my coffee is just warm not hot. Even when using the highest temperature sitting.
Is that normal. Thank you
Thanks, that was super helpful! I appreciate it.
Fantastic video, step by step, so easy
Awesome video! Really userful, thanks
Thank you for this video!!
This is really helpful. Thanks for sharing
It’s our pleasure
What about the coffee mill? 🤔
My exact problem! Did you solve the issue?
Hi it seems like your water pump died. It’s fairly simple to replace. 5113211291 type this part number in amazon and you will see what the part is.
Shoppers Therapy Thanks - I’ll check it out! Appreciate the answer!
kentchr76 did it work?
I always use the cleaning function - i often clean the milk containers (got 2 of them) and i use the DeLonghi milk cleaning stuff (10ml and 90ml water to clean the inside)
I tried ti clean inner parts but i didnt found where - maybe you can help out?
Have you tried to flip the straw and push it in harder ? Also the spout of the container and the lever can be pulled out of the lid. Did you clean those items al loose or did you put it in as a whole ?
Also, we will check out the other video! Thanks!
Good jobs!thanks
It comes up to fill the jug part.. then self diagnosis. Then turns off.. is it completly broken. I brought it second hand
It is probably just a small silicone ring that is broken
Thanks
Amazing video guys! Can I have you over to check mine? Lol
I wonder if you can identify what is the problem with mine?
It’s about 5 years old, I turned it off and unplugged when was going away
When I returned and plug it back , the coffee started to drip instead of pour , eg its like making espresso instead of coffee, feels there is no water pressure- takes forever to make s full cup and the quantity of water seems smaller that it shall be … repair no everywhere in Toronto about three weeks wait time … is there os anything I can try myself?
I cleaned the machine’s removable parts and the grinder
I have the same machine you show in the video
