There is a brand new 5500 in my community, it’s actually a 2 story traction. Feels like a cruise ship elevator almost. Very Europe themed.

These are really nice. We have a set of three of these at a hotel here that go 18 levels. I'm not sure they'd hold up well in a parking garage though.
I believe MRLs are the future, at least for apartment buildings and the like. One day they'll have true high-rise MRLs suitable for office tower use, it's only a matter of time...

I would love to ride these elevators!! I like Schindler 5500 and these are the highest ones I have seen!! They seem to run amazing. They don’t chime when passing floors too which is nice, I find that annoying. The floor indicators are different than what I have ever seen before too, they have a black background instead of white. One thing that does surprise me is these have a floor 13

Apparently the 5500 can go up to 33 floors which is a lot more than I thought it would have been able to lol. I think the jury is still out on those fixtures though... There's a parking garage here in Charlotte that has had these installed for a few years now and they haven't held up very well at all, seems like the ground floor buttons inside the cars and at the floor are always breaking or aren't registering. Or as you saw at the Charlotte airport in high traffic areas prone to abuse, they tend to break. I'm wondering how long Schindler will continue to use them tbh.

@@DieselDucy Definitely agree. A step up from the 3300 or XL for sure, but doesn't seem to be nearly as reliable as the Gen2 or Ecodisc from what I have heard.

MRL means Machine Room Less. Meaning there is no machine room. All the equipment is in the hoist way.

These have been around for 6 years now & are in a questionable state. Often broken, some cars don't run well, etc.

yeah, I don't think these will make their 20 year life expectancy. Definitely not a good choice for a high rise.
