    I agree with Leo! Planning a DIY outdoor fireplace on my farm property. using fieldstone that has been collected over the years as the fields were plowed. Your video answered so many questions.

    I explained it was a fireplace for a gas insert. but my feeling about an outside fireplace is anything that would work is fine as long as it does not cause any danger. thanks mike

    Mr.Haduck,Your 3 videos left me with a lot of questions.You did not show how to make the inside with the fire brick but I got the just of it.If making chimney can I use firebrick all the way up through the roof?Will I still need a flu?How is the air vent put in and vented?Is only firebrick for chimney safe in attic?Can I use a wood burning stove firebox for my chimney & brick around it?How do I know what size flu I need?When making cut in roof for chimney do I need to keep the brick a certain distance from the actual roof?Can I place wire mesh on the chimney to keep birds ect from making nest inside?Can I use regular brick or does it have to be fire brick because I'm sure in old days fire brick was not available and regular brick or stone was used.How do I add a damper in my chimney?When my dad built our fire place he used regular brick I am just not sure about what went inside the chimney we did not help build that part.I do know he bricked all the way through the attic and up the roof.I want it on an outside wall what do i need to do to prepare the wall?Do I need to make a frame away from the wall and brick around that because I can remember him making frame before the brick work.

      Hi Kathleen, anymore you have to check with your local inspector to see what is allowed in your area, the fireplace I built there was for a outside gas, inside is a whole different world, most that do inside use stainless steel, chimneys everything is changing I hope it helps thanks, mike

    are there any brackets that would be required to keep the stone and brick together? Or what would you use if you were to add a fireplace to an existing home to make sure it's sturdy and safe?

    • @MikeHaduck
      @MikeHaduck  7 років тому

      Hi Tom, it is just a concrete mix, and in that case I did stick in in, mostly because it was a small job and wanted to get done, otherwise I would have left some rebar up like I did in part 1, thanks mike

    Wow, Nice work! I like your style and I also like that it's a mini fireplace, not too many of those around an I am sure you can get so good heat off of that. I did a smaller one also, it's not as high as most because I have an HOA to contend with, but here is mine build. My father laid block his entire life, and i was most of the time his hod carrier But I have built a few of these myself.
