Hi Terrence! I find a bucket to be the best way. It steams up a storm but extinguishing the fire quickly by removing oxygen is the best way. I was worried about the firepits thermal contraction/expansion, and maybe it would warp over time (going hot to cold very fast). I've found this isn't a problem. Check out 12:42 - cleaning. Cheers.
Great tips cheers. For putting out the fire I either move the burning wood into a metal trash can using fire tongs then I lift the takibi by the legs, dump the coals into the bin and cover the bin 🚮 with the lid (you can reuse the coals the next time) or ill dump the coals into the fire ring and drown the coals 💦. You can also oil the firepit with vegetable oil once in awhile to prevent rust. I like using pocket bellows, 2 firetongs for playing with the fire, wool blankets and clothing around the fire to save my good gear 🔥🏕️❄️🇨🇦
Hi Delton! Thanks for watching. I made a video on how I usually light charcoal - a bit less production value value to my newer videos but still relevant! ua-cam.com/video/nmEtNNuxC9c/v-deo.html If I don't have newspaper I use a few kindling twigs underneath to build a slightly larger flame to the fire starter.
Thanks so much. Glad to hear you got some value. Sorry for taking to long to reply, UA-cam didn't notify me properly of your comment. See you around :D
Hey Dan, just a thought .. having more means to light a fire is awesome, if one fail then yeah.. but keeping them all together in the same place defeats the purpose, if you lose that bag than you lose them all. Great start, I hope you reach a mil subs in no time, cheers :-)
Thanks so much Dan. This is an excellent thought! Similar to the important question of where you would carry your spare car key on a big trip? Think I might need an emergency lighter in my glove box. Great to have you on board. Cheers
Thanks for the encouragement Dave. This means alot. Good to have you on board. Starting to get some momentum now! Heading into winter down here so hopefully lots of opportunities for campfires!
Hi Kirby, If you click videos tab from the channel page you should be able to scroll down and find them, also titles you can search in google are "Folding Fire Pit Guide - Part One" and "Snow Peak Fire Pit Review and Market Comparison - Part Two". I also have a playlist titled "Folding Fire Pit Guides" which has all my Fire Pit videos in a list. Glad you found the channel :)
@@OTWD Ahhhhh... Different title names. That explains it! I was looking for same name part one and same name part two. You and Fire to Fork are my go to Aussie channels :)
Hi Travis, glad you are enjoying mate. Great to have you onboard. The box is the milk crate storage system sold by Drifta Camping and 4wd over here in Aus. Coincidentally I made a video about it! ua-cam.com/video/b1woAEVwDbA/v-deo.html . PS. I liked your BongoTies video.
Thanks espoton, Appreciate the encouragement! New camera has just arrived, and I bought new microphone(s) too, so in coming weeks the quality will be improving significantly. Stick around :)
Hi Jake, Sorry for the late reply - I've been up in Queensland the past week. Yeah....I keep umming and arrhing about a chainsaw. Definitely would make life easier. Do you reckon an electric one would be better for mostly camping use? Cheers
@@OTWD I have a stihl mini boss which is 2 stroke and I love it. My old man just brought a ryobi battery chainsaw and loves that also. But I prefer fuel.
Good job Dan, don't forget to breathe and relax into your videos lol. Getting long utensils to use with my fire pit, keeps me further from them flames. Now just waiting for the cooking shows
How do you typically put out the fire in your takibi grill?

@@OTWD thank you! Yes, I was worried about the warping with water so I’m happy to hear that warping isn’t an issue.

I lol'ed at "While I would never condone playing with fire... A good ol' fashioned flame thrower is one way to get it happening"
It will certainly get the job done!
I like the plywood tip as a divider. I have been using bubble wrap but the plywood is a much better idea.
Good to know these old videos get some traffic still! Yep, the ply wood worked well for ages! Thinner the better. Thanks Michael!

Loving the channel Dan.

My advice.. invest in a microphone. Seems to be what most presenters do.

Hey mate. Great video
Need to invest in a stihl mini boss 👍🏻

What advice do you have for me? Thanks to the early adopting subscribers, I think we've started something!
I use the cardboard that came in the box as my dividers.
Hey again Jose, thanks for watching! I like the cardboard idea. Lighter, thinner, and its recycling too!

Thanks for feedback Eddie. I think more videos and practice will help ease the nerves! Good call on keeping your distance with tools.
