I honestly didn't. But a good video nonetheless!

A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one ✨️
Please listen to Animaniacs songs!!! They are literally the best!!!!
I recommend the Animaniacs songs,
Yakko’s World
Humanity’s wins
The Bayeux Tapestry
Here comes the sea
I’m Cute
Can you watch the movie somday yeas its exist 2 to
Kaa’s being the first song must have felt like an acid trip
so real
LOL rough start
But now you gotta listen to Scarlett Johanson's version from the live action
The elephants were just patrolling back and forth my guy
why was he so confused?🤣🤣
The confusion stems from Matt not considering that they turned in place and marched the other direction. Matt seems to think that they somehow switched places before going the other way.
@@mecdouble9436 Bro, how did he not watch these as a kid?!?? How old is this man? Like he can't have missed that much from childhood no???
@@Liza-wh4xi huh?
Knowing that the same dude who voiced the snake was also Winnie The Pooh is so funny to me😭
And in the original Kaa's future appearances they just got the current Pooh actor to voice him.
I knew his voice sounded familiar😂
@@primrosevale1995 wait thats amazing omg
And the voice actor for Baloo also voiced Thomas O’Malley the alley cat from Aristocats! (Abraham Delacey Giuseppe Casey Thomas O’Malley the Alley Cat)
@@nbunnysnowboard OMG YOURE SO RIGHT, how did i miss that😭
Mowgli was absolutely in danger in the apes kingdom. What he offered mowgli was basically protection and the ability to remain in the jungle, because in that location he has control and can keep away threats, so when the ape says “don’t try to kid me man cub, I made a deal with you” it is absolutely a threat.
The Monkey Mafia led by a powerful and intelligent ape was smth that always gave me more alarm bells in this movie
"Is snake in Jungle Book try eat?" -Mathew 2024
yes
also a group of elephants is called a parade which is why they're introduced doing a military parade, as a pun
Fun fact: In the actual jungle book, Baloo was actually a serious Teacher to Mowgli, Kaa was a Ally and King Louie doesn't exist in the book, he was made for the Movie.
The worst part of King Louie being made for the movie was: 1. the jungle book was written by the same guy who wrote "Carry The White Man's burden" 2. Walt was extremely racist.
This was pointed out to me in history class and I can't unsee or hear it.
But the monkeys kidnapped Mowgli when he was seven. Kaa helped hypnotize them to get him away.
In fact the whole point of the bander-log in the book was that they didn't have a leader or a plan or anything. They were fucking idiots.
@@strawberrysoulforever8336 Reading about Kaa making the monkeys dance into his open maw was terrifying
@@aTomallicExcept King Louie isn't racist.

👇
Ooo yesss The Road to El Dorado 😍
YES.
PFFFF 😂 we all know he's gonna ask "How was THAT put into the movie???!!" Ahh moment 🤣
@@average-art3222 you mean El Dorado....?
😅actually that scene was censored in my country so imagine my shock when I saw it when I got older. Although I'm pretty sure they are just passionately kissing on the floor😅🤔😆 C'mon it's an innocent movie for kids .
The basic story is that the panther found the boy as a baby, without any adult humans around, and took him to a wolf pack that had recently had puppies. The wolves loved and raised him for a while-about eight years or so-before the tiger learned that there was man in the jungle. The tiger loathes humans and won’t stand for them in his jungle, not even if they are just a “man cub”. To protect Mowgli the panther offers to escort him across the jungle to a human village; the wolves agree that it’s the safest option, even though they hate giving him up.
The issue is that Mowgli doesn’t want to leave the jungle and keeps trying to run away from the panther, making friends and enemies along the way. The bear loves him and begins to view Mowgli as his own son; the orangutan wants to use him, to become even stronger and smarter than he already is; the elephants consider letting him join their herd, if he can follow their rules; the snake wants to eat him; the vultures want to look after and care for him, as most animals are a bit wary of them and they love making new friends; and the tiger wants him dead, not to eat, but just because he’s a man.
It’s a really interesting story, mostly made up of interconnected smaller tales
Small correction, the parental wolves have to let go of the kid because the wolf pack votes to banish Mowgli so that they don’t have to fight Sher Khan.
Fun fact: The vultures are parodies of the Beatles! The actual Beatles were supposed to voice them, but acording to different sources they were either busy or John rejected the offer. That's why they have Liverpool accents. Each vulture is based on a band member: The blond is John, the brunet is Paul, the one with hair covering his eyes is George, and the bald one is Ringo.
I often like to compare "Bear Necessities" to "Hakuna Matata" since both songs are basically about a philosophy where living by you're own rules and having a simple and carefree life is the best kind of life.
I mean I'm probably wrong about that, But surely at least some of you see where I'm coming from.
The Elefant song had some parts (like the dialogue) cut out.
Thats why its so confusing
Fun fact: King Louis was played by the voice of Louis Prima, widely famous jazz singer at the time so when they recorded his song 'I Wanna Be Like You', he did it live with his band like he would at a show. The thing was he always did a trumpet solo and then the rest of his guys on sax or trumpets would follow in a marching line, so they did that and the animators after watching them decided to animate in the mime trumpet thing his character does with the monkeys following behind him like his band. And the bit where he and Baloo are scat singing was improvised, they just let them riff a while during the song :D
A quick rundown of the plot if you’re interested: Mowgli was raised in the jungle by a wolf pack and everything was chill until the tiger Shere Khan came long and said he would kill Mowgli if he didn’t leave the jungle. The film is Mowgli’s journey to find a human village, with Baloo (the bear) and Bagheera (the panther) trying to keep him safe from animals that want to eat/kill/manipulate him :)
the jungle book was my childhood bro
What did you think of jungle cubs? :D
I can't believe you never watched "The Jungle Book" Mathew, It's a beloved classic both as a book and as a movie. And for many the songs are some of the best and most memorable parts of the movie.
And fun fact: The Jungle Book is literally THE very last film that Walt Disney himself worked on before he passed. It's also one of the films that famous animators and cartoonists like Floyd Norman worked on. In fact Floyd actually once revealed that Walt came up with the idea for the song "Trust In Me" to be added into the movie.
I assume he hasn't watched the Disney Robin Hood either, such a great movie as well, just with less songs.
9:52, King Louis had Mowgli kidnapped
Baloo’s a sloth bear. Most of their diet consists of mainly ants and termites..
Its so funny that whenever somebody sing more than two lines in song mowgli is just indoctrinated completely
Baloo the bear is still one of my favorite Disney characters tbh
Love your profile :)
He was one of my Disney comfort characters as a kid:)
Matthew confused by the concept of switching directions and walking back and forth 😭😂
You absolutely need to watch the actual movie 😂 the dynamic between the bear and the panther is the best part 😂😂 not to mention the birds.
I LOVE how he’s so confused by a kids movie 🤣🤣🤣

PLEASE REACT TO "SPIRIT: STALLION OF THE CIMARRON"! It's a story about a strong, beautiful horse with a spirit that can never be broken.
I cry every time i watch it! It's a INCREDIBLE film, and the songs are so cool! But it's not a musical and the animals can't talk. 😭💔🔥
That would be amazing!
Yes please!!!
The Spirit soundtrack is a complete gem. Having voiceless characters is a hurdle that was expressed flawlessly through the songs, speaking for them perfectly. I can't get enough of that soundtrack. It's one of the few that can bring me to the verge of tears just from the lyrics alone due to the emotion they're conveying
The snake is also voiced by the OG Pooh bear
Some insight about King Louie and "I Wanna Be Like You", this song and character was basically created for Jazz singer, trumpeter and bandleader Louis Prima (though it was tossed around that maybe Louie Armstrong could voice the character, but realized that having a black man play an ape singing about wanting to be human MIGHT not be a good look). But yeah, Louis Prima LOVED playing the character and even performed his own rendition of the song with his own band on occasion. There's also this weird thing where Louis Prima's widow tried suing Disney over their continued use of King Louie saying that Louis Prima put so much of himself into the character that it was functionally his. Not sure how the details of the law works with that one, but for a while, they couldn't use either the character or his name; a similar character in the TV show the House of Mouse was renamed King Larry, and he was absent entirely from the movie's own sequel. It's a shame, King Louie is a really fun character, so much so that you forget he kidnapped a child in order to teach him how to make fire (a rather disturbing aspect that the live action remake actually leans into).
king Louis is named after Louis Armstrong. The vultures designed to look like the Beatles was intentional because that was the original plan- Disney asked the Beatles if they would be the voices of the vultures but they declined, Disney decided to keep the design anyway.
Possibility King Louis was named after Louis Prima who provided voice of character.
I though King Louis was named after the French kings
From google: Disney and his team took a different, though similarly misconceived, approach to the monkeys in the 1967 animated film. The monkeys' orangutan leader King Louie was named after the African-American singer Louis Armstrong (though voiced by Louis Prima, an Italian-American). The implications here are insidious.
the bear's name is Baloo which literally just means "bear"
Add an "n" and he will float away 🎈
You have got to watch/listen to "The Aritocats" also by Disney
He might have already seen that one.
A few years ago in choir we sang a compilation of Disney villains songs for one of our concerts and Kaa’s song was in there and hearing it with harmonies is so trippy 😭 highly recommend looking up the choral version of it for the harmonies
It's hilarious watching Matthew loose his mind trying too logic out a kids movie
From what I know, the vultures were actually intended to be voiced by the Beatles and their designs were based on them, but one of the Beatles (can’t remember who) said no, so they had to find other voice actors for them.
19:41 no. The monkeys are there to kidnap the kid.
2:56 ok but look at this search “is snake in jungle book trans” 😂. Amazing! It’s because the character is played by a male voice actor in the original but by Scarlett Johansson in the live version I think. But I agree, Kaa trans icon.
Edit: I think this is one of the few movies I never rewatched as an adult so most of the songs I only know in Spanish, but now I’m tempted to go check the original elephant song as I though the whole sequence was great as a kid. ‘I wanna be like you’ I do know since Robbie Williams made a cover and it’s great fr
Edit 2: in the Spanish version all the vultures are voiced by people from different regions of Spain and Latinoamerica so they all speak Spanish but in very distinctive accents, and I think that’s the first time I heard an Argentinian accent in a Disney movie 😮
13:08, the vultures are actually being honest
Daaang thee wasn't my avorite song ! "My own home" I don't know. That one is so haunting and all ! I love it !
King Louie is voiced my the LEGEND Louie Prima!
Matthew, here’s a fun fact. When they were creating the jungle book, the creators or animators were told not to even read the original book. And they wanted to make the plot basic, so it would just be Mowgli eventually making it to the man village. And there is a sequel to the animation film called The Jungle Book 2. And there are other Jungle Book movies that are popular or underrated. One was made in the 90s starring Jason Scott Lee and there was another one called the Jungle Book Mowgli’s Story starring Brandon Baker from Johnny Kapahala. There’s a live action remake of this first film. And there is one called The Second Jungle Book: Mowgli and Baloo which is based on the second story of the Jungle Book. Also the names of the animals like Bagheera and Baloo are actual word translation in the Hindu language what animal they are.
There's also the 90's Jungle Book Anime "Jungle Book Shōnen Mowgli."
I had "The Second Jungle Book: Mowgli and Baloo" on VHS, I loved that film as a kid! I wonder if I'd like it now, apparently it's got pretty negative reviews?
this was the first movie I watched on repeat as a small child
King Louie just wants to commit a little arson
Not exactly. He's obsessed with the power and mystique of human beings and wants those for himself. So he thinks being able to make fire, the one thing that the jungle universally fears and has been mastered by humans, will make him human.
Is snake in jungle book try eat
-Matthew 2024
I love how Mathew analyzes everything it helps reveal more about the songs and even the logic of the fictional world
Shere Kahn may be the main antagonist of the Jungle Book, But to him Man is the real villain. Because in other adaptations of the story Shere Kahn developed a hatred of humans because of how destructive humans can be.
That's why Shere Kahn wanted to kill Mowgli. Because after everything that Man took from him, He thinks that having a Man cub living in the jungle would do more harm than good.
Knowing that's the voice of pooh bear.....is very unsettling lol
the constant look of astonishment and horror on your face was highly entertaining XD
This is adorable! The Jungle Book is one of my favorites, I think you'd love Robin Hood!
This is gonna be FIYAHH 🔥🔥💥
I suggest you listen to the songs from "The Fox and the Hound" the first one not the 2nd one, Though the songs from the 2nd one aren't half bad.
I dare Mathew to do that without crying, Because almost every song in the first one is a real tear jerker.
@@infernocon2334 I don’t think that’s possible. Though I’d like to see him try too
I have a special place in my heart for The Jungle Book because I played Bageerah in my school play when I was younger. So happy you got to watch it.
Fun fact, the Snake is voiced by Scarlet Johanson in the live-action version.
The monkeys kidnapped Mowgli from the bear, that's why he's angry.
The opening sequence with music and title cards is one of the most beautiful in Disney history in my opinion, I just love how this movie opens.
Have you heard of the Paul Shapera Musical Series? It's a bunch of musicals that share an inter-connected universe, and I think that might be up your alley. Starts with a Steampunk Musical called The Dolls of New Albion.
Fun Fact! The music for “Trust in Me” was originally written for Mary Poppins, meant for a song called “The Land of Sand” :D
19:42 and that's when the monkeys got em. Not trying to spoil but they clearly were stalking them.
I didn't rlly watch this movie growing up. I only watched it a few times but I WAS in a musical production of it when I was in school. ALSO I definitely binged the spin off show, TaleSpin, for years. Still have them on DVD. Don Karnage was my favorite 😂😂
Speaking of Disney movies, have you ever seen Oliver and Company? It has some really awesome music! Always fun to see what you think of something
You should make a video on the songs from Dead End Paranormal Park. Some of the songs you could listen to are You’re my Frankenstein, Somewhere down there, The Driver’s seat, and Phantom of the theme park
Could you react to the songs from Disney’s Robin Hood?
I agree!
“When you find out you can live without it and go along not thinking about it” are words we could all live for the better for
15:13 Shere Khan sounds like he should be fighting Alduin the World Eater
If I remember correctly for the vulture song they did originally want to get the Beatles but for whatever reason they weren’t able to get them.
The Beatles declined mainly because of John's ego and because Walt Disney believed the Beatles were a passing fad.
@@karimion2157 There were a lot of reasons given over the years but the one I've heard that sounds the most legit was just boring old scheduling conflicts.
"Quest for Camelot", sometime?

I'm Swedish, and it's tradition to watch this movie EVERY Christmas and often more
Or more specifically, one specific song from the movie ("The Bear Necessities", it's called (translated back from Swedish) "Enjoy what life gives")
So seeing someone NEVER have seen it is so weird, I can't comprehend anyone NOT having watched this movie HUNDREDS of times
7:08 The voice actor for King Louis was actually a jazz/swing style musician who played the trumpet and was in a few swing bands, which is why it's kinda bouncy (that and it was the 60s so)
Bare necessities was the first song I apparently ever fully learned so I was a little 2 year old singing the big words such as necessities 😅
Yeah ... Last song cuts out right before the monkeys abducted mowgli
I LOVE THIS MOVIE!
My golden retriever was named Mowgli after this movie! Love it so much
mathew having never watched the jungle book hurts DID HE EVEN HAVE A CHILDHOOD?!?!?!
I hadn't seen it until 2022 December but I had seen The Jungle Book 2 2018/2019
The vultures were meant to be voiced by the Beatles in the planning stage since this shit was 1967, but that didn't end up working out. Thus they ended up more of a barbershop quartet.😂
Also fun fact; Baloo is a sloth bear so the aggression makes a lot of sense. They've made some pretty brutal attacks on humans and are known for being very aggressive for bears. Baloo is awful chill for a sloth bear.
Omg my favourite youtuber reacting to my favourite Disney movie? Hell yeah!
I will give this to the vultures- they absolutely lived up to thier song. They were true blue friends when Mogli was in a tough spot. Love that for those silly dudes. 😊
Recently found your stuff. I really appreciate your style.
I find myself getting frustrated when the songs cut out, but on reflection, that means that you're creating a new work that cannot function as a substitute for the original. I really appreciate both your reactions and the ethical approach to performing them.
(I can also empathise strongly with the Australian Summer sheen of sweat. I am so thankful the weather down my way seems to have finally cooled)
Fun fact, the python in the book was a good guy, disney made him a villain.
You were right to be suspicious about the vultures. While the film doesn’t say it, it’s implied they just wanna be near him so they can eat his corpse after he dies.
Now matt needs to watch the whole thing
Wait till he figures out that the voice of the snake is Winnie the Pooh😂😂😂😂
the german lyrics to „bare nessesitys“ is „Mit Gemütlichkeit“ which means „with Coziness“ which I like much more he sings about living in calm and coziness because that takes the worries and routine of life away!
If you like good acapella where the vocals fill out the song, you should listen to Voiceplay. They do some amazing acapella covers.
Also their bass singer, Geoff Castellucci, has done a solo (non-acapella) cover of Bare Necessities which is really good.
You seriously need to watch the whole movie, it was my favorite movie as a kid
Not Matthew reacting to my fcking childhood!!!!1
The boy was found as a baby by wolves. The dad wolf is apprehensive because humans hunt wolves but the mama wolf instantly wants to care for it and says as long as they raise it, he won’t want to kill them. Later a tiger appears and the wolves prevent other deaths of the jungle by releasing him back to the human village. The rest of the movie is him avoiding leaving the jungle by saying he could join the elephants or bears or monkeys.
The animals recognize him as the wolves have expressed it is fine, he hasn’t learned to hunt so they don’t feel the need to be scared of him. The panther also is the one that first found him as a baby and instinctually cares for him.
I apologize if this comes across as a broken record, @MathewMcKenna, but everything falls into place & CONTEXT when you watch them in the correct sequence… like actually watching the movie from start to finish WILL make more sense.
That said, the synopsis is: Mowgli (you did have it right the first time) was a human baby abandoned in the jungles of India. Bahgira (the panther) found him & brought him to a pack of wolves to raise as their own. When he was old enough & the pack learned Shir Khan (the tiger) would be back to kill him before he could grow up & kill him first, they’d need to return Mowgli to the “man village” & become one with society.
Mowgli doesn’t want to leave the jungle & Baloo (the bear) lives fancy free & wants to tuck him under his wing. When Bhagira convinces Baloo to take Mowgli back, Mowgli runs away & between Baloo, the vultures & random lightning that creates fire, they scare off Shir Khan… with a little ‘bad blood’ from Kaa (the snake) & King Louie (pronounced loo-ee), as well as the ignorant Elephant “army” that protects the grasslands outside the jungle.
And, for more context, the reason why there’s a little elephant with the herd is he’s the leader of the pack’s son, wanting to follow in his dad’s militant footsteps. What wasn’t heard in the musical number were the various military cries that drill sergeants will run through as commands, like: ‘Company, about face’, ‘forward march’ or ‘halt!’ (Only reason I sorta know is from being in marching band for 7 years). Hope that helps some!
I legit thought that that section was english, and I was just stupid, for YEARS. Like until I was about 12 😭😂
You should listen to “jungle rhythm” from the jungle book 2 it’s so good
I never heard Bare Necessities in english before, and honestly quite surprised how different it is from the german version in terms of lyrics. I do prefer the german version, but the english is also pretty chill.
These types of reactions are great!
By the way, this had me thinking that random songs from the "Land Before Times"-series would be super fun and possibly equally confusing without context, unless you have seen them already.
My suggestions would be the following songs (based on personal favourites):
- Eggs (2nd movie)
- When you're big (3rd movie)
- Friends for dinner (5th movie)
- Very important creature (7th movie)
The first, original movie doesn't really have songs, but an amazing soundtrack by James Horner. This is best portrayed by the 5 min clip called "Shaptooth attacks Littlefoot and Cera", where the soundtrack really shines through.
Oh, and if you want to watch something REALLY random, I highly recommend "Percy's Perfect Purple Pickled Pelican Pellets" from "The New Adventures of Little Toot". 🙂
it's crazy how in french we cannot have at all the pun with bare necessities, and miss such a thing !

If you are looking for new songs to react to, could you do The Pony I Want To Be + Reprise, What my cutie mark is telling me, Right there in front of me and Good Vibes by the Equestria girls and perhaps Shine like rainbows?
Jungle Book just gives me weird vibes
Why?
5:15 well if we're going off of reality, humans are bipeds, we naturally walk and stand upright, in fact we don't have the proper anatomy or muscle to walk like an ape. you can try it yourself, our bodies aren't made to walk on our hands and feet. even babies, once they move beyond crawling on their knees naturally move to stand on their feet and walk. you can even see mowgli doing it there, how he has to awkwardly bend his body.
This movie does a really good job animating body language.
Whatever rock you slept under to miss all these? Thank it for us, these are entertaining XD I dunno how you missed some of these XD
