Lived in Whitehaven mid/late 80s. There was talk of Marchon closing back then even, worked there for a while. Suprised it lasted as long as it did. Loved the Corkicle Brake. I was invited into the control room a couple of times, wish I'd had my camera with me.
My Dad was a Whitehaven lad. I wish he was still with us... he'd have loved to see these images. We used to caravan at St. Bees back in the 70's - best holidays I've ever had. Thanks for this video :)
My father spent his childhood in Whitehaven in New Houses. Came to the States in 1923, returned and back to the states some years later. I have family there still but have never been. Thanks for posting this!
Thoroughly enjoyed this and well put together. Loved your choice of soundtracks also. How times change when you look back through Memory Lane. Thank you David.
Saw an old Avenger here still taxed Registered June 1973 old bus depot now long gone an early National bus my Dad worked at the Lillyhall factory for many happy years
I recognised 13 pictures of mine in there and a lot of other people I know too. You really should do a full list of creditors when you put together something like this.
Does anyone remember the old red buses that came up high road kells I was only about 5 year old and use to wave to the bus driver that would of been in 1975

The Chase Hotel where Phil Lynott from Thin Lizzy stayed after playing in the Whitehouse
When there was some choice of industry and jobs here. Unfortunately reliant on one type. Well two types if you include tourism
You should try and name your contributors. Nevertheless a fine presentation and good music choices. Thanks.

What we were to what we are now I hang my head in shame!

Yes you should.
You should watermark your images with your name - otherwise you'll have a hard time proving any of them were really yours.

Can anyone tell me the exact track names of the music on this video please.
You can use the Shazam app to find the name of songs bro
I know that from about the 4min mark it’s the instrumental outro from Layla by Derek and the Dominoes (AKA Eric Clapton) 😉
Pics copyright David McAlone - did he go to the Valley School in the 60s?
