- My income took a big hit in March. Unless I reverse the situation, I'll run out of money.
I decided to share the experience to decimate my anxiety.
Is this a good decision?

I don't know why I have been recommended this video, but I filed for bankruptcy in my mid-20s and have been trading on Betfair for the past two years. However, going bankrupt turned out to be a blessing in disguise. I speak from personal experience when I say that the weight of the world was lifted off my shoulders immediately. Time flies by and the most challenging times often lead to the best outcomes. I subscribed to your channel to follow your journey

Hi Jim, very sorry to hear of your plight. I actually had an email conversation with you about 20 years ago when you were doing betfair. I had a similar experience - made it pay for 4 or 5 years then lost my edge. You have proven before you can make a comeback, so you can do it again. There is always a way. Sometimes when one door closes another door opens. I hadn't watched any of your videos for a while and I was surprised when youtube suggested this one. You have a diverse skill set and I believe you can make your next venture another success. Remember, we come into this world with nothing and we leave with nothing. All the best.

Sorry to hear that. I started one website in September 2023 and second one in January 2024. Traffic is almost zero, even though both of them have in total about 120 published articles.
You have just started out essentially! Create great content, pick one social medium to promote them and be consistent. That's what I'd do if I started now. In fact, that's exactly what I'm doing right now! Good luck and play the long game.
Like the other guys said, I also believe you will find a comeback soon. I remember your brightness since junior high, when you were in the freaking hospital for months and still made the highest grades in class.
Another story to be told, I guess! You brought back memories that I seem to have forgotten, like how tough that summer was for me, studying for three months while everyone was at the beach. Oh, the things we have all pushed through to accomplish our dreams. Thanks for the support!

Hello Jim, im following your journey since i was 30. Made all the same mistakes, didnt make all same successes. But still fighting, waking up everyday and working on dream for my children. Who but who, but you are a winner. People like you dont give up, just place another bet - and come on top again.
The family puts a lot more pressure on placing another bet. As I get older, I tend to play it much safer. I won't give up, but I am tired and stressed. Thank you for the encouragement and I wish the best for you and your family. 🥰

Don’t give up!!!!!!!!!! It’s a sign to move to a cabin and grow your own food. The entire system is about to collapse. We will make it through if we can avoid the cities and grow our own food.
Well, I’ve been hearing of that collapse and the great reset for many years now. In the meantime, the world keeps spinning. I’m definitely not giving up and my endgame is certainly moving to our summerhouse and growing our vegetables and fruits. Just not yet! If you can make money online, moving away from cities makes total sense to me.
I have so many things to write, but I will probably keep some of them for a private conversation. I am sure you will get through it as you did it multiple times in the past. I am also 100% sure this will lead to a better future. Of course, now you are in the storm, so you can't see the bright side. I believe this is an opportunity for you to start using your skills again. You will be forced to leave your comfort zone, but as always, you will become better.
All I needed was a gentle push, but I guess I wouldn't budge with that. Everyone is betting on me as if I'm the favorite. If only I were that optimistic-and for once, I hope I am not right! You nailed it with the storm comment. That's EXACTLY how it feels.

Hi Jim. I told you before that I follow your endeavours for more than 15y when I started my Betfair voyage. You not only inspire people when succeeding but also when struggling , that makes most of us relate. I understand how having someone's lives depending on you feels like, it is like playing with scared money, because we are always scared, goes with the territory. I am sure you will thrive and get over this bump on the road, just keep trusting on yourself, served you well before and will do again. Jim, breathe. Keep an open mind, sometimes struggles direct us in the direction we need to go instead of the one we think we want to go, time will make it clearer and surely you and your family will thrive. Don't know how I got this into my youtube suggestions, but I believe part of the problem is "working only 4 hours a week in pajamas" is not an actual work.
Same as betting. So, have you ever tried and actual work? A regular 9-5 job? That would probably work.
Turns out my wife had the same feeling. "This was pretty much expected. You can't make serious money with just 4 hours of weekly work."
Never had a regular 9-5 job in my life. That was the whole point of taking risks in life.
@@JimMakosCom Don't play the "should have's" it won't help anything and only feeds the anxiety. Anyone with steady income would have been in pj's and working 4hrs a week, too! Just focus on problem solving and moving forward. You have something many other people don't - the experience of starting over & succeeding. You got this.

@@JimMakosCom farm your BTC :) Seriously, I have had my own "return to the mean" and "return to zero" moments a couple of times, and finally decided it's better to live destitute for a period with a couple of assets earning yield, rather than liquidate the assets to keep the lower middle class dream alive. In crypto terms, that would mean getting and spending some yield on BTC and ETH. Especially on ETH there is degen yield to be had almost every day of the year. And yes, I did hear you have kid(s) to feed, but degen dads have degen kids, first cosmic law!

Let me make a suggestion: why don't you try to get involved with one over three previous "trains" again? You know the ropes, so you don't have to start over from zero. You just need to adopt some elements of your game.
Running a business >> gambling. Scalable, creative, sustainable. Still, not as fun as gambling!

I mean, you can't expect that working 4 hours a week and creating absolutely 0 productive value compared to any normal job, like a brick layer working 40+ hours, would hold up forever. If that were a permanent thing, everyone would be doing just that and nothing real would ever be produced. Create something real.
As long as you fulfill a demand, why do you have to create something real? This is the internet last time I checked.
@@JimMakosCom but you're not. The demand is not real. That might work for you, as information is also a commodity, but at the end of the day you can't expect it to be as profitable as a company actually producing the product.
People are wisening up about the internet and starting to recognise the affiliate sites that are just bs'ing to them to desperately make that sale from the sites that actually sell that product or service.

Why not sports trade and make money that way again
First, it's been more than ten years since I last traded, so I've fallen behind. And second, betting exchanges are prohibited in my country.
