How to make your roses last for days!

  • Want long lasting roses?!? It’s all in the way you prep and care for them! While flower food is optional, it does provide sugar and citric acid, which keeps the bacteria low in the water but it’s extremely important to continue to give your stems a fresh cut and replace the water and food every few days. With a few extra steps, you will get an extra several days out of your roses, which is worth the hassle!

I’ve processed flowers from the grocery store this way, and it helps them last SO MUCH LONGER!
10/10 Will process flowers like this again✨

I have been adding white vinegar and sugar, one teaspoon of each, to a gallon of water and it really extends flower life. I condition all my bouquet flowers overnight in this solution, then recut stems, arrange and move to buckets with new water, adding fresh vinegar/sugar. My roses are picked out of my garden and results vary depending on the variety, but generally stripping and prepping as you do works really well. Would love one of your rose strippers. Do you sell them? Totally enjoy your videos and have learned so much. Thank you!

Thanks for the tips. Honestly i much prefer how the flowers look with the guard petals on, they look far more beautiful and more like the traditional "rose" shape. To each their own, though!

We love guard petals too! It's all about personal preference!

    I really love Pink Expression.
It just encapsulates Juliet from Romeo and Juliet for me 💕
How would you store the petals to keep them fresh?
In the fridge in a container? would you put a damp paper towel in? or would that make them mouldy?

We love them too! Place your loose petals in a plastic bag and then mist the inside with water. Loosely tie the bag and then pop it in the fridge until the day of the wedding, the petals will be perfect!

My bff got it for me in Vietnam when I was 19, had her grandmother put it on for me (bruised hand for 2 weeks), and I haven't taken it off since because to get it off, I'd need to break it, and now it's like a tattoo. Sorry. Long story you didn't ask for. 😆

I thought you had to leave some leaves! Good to know 😅

Removing leaves from the stems allow the water to go directly into the head of the flower instead of competing with the leaves for hydration!

35 YEARS in tbe business and I've never seen a florist use scissors to cut stems. NEVER!!!!!!

    • @FlowerMoxie
      @FlowerMoxie  11 місяців тому

Some people do use knives, but not everyone and it's personal preference. A knife is how a lot of florists are trained but a pair of sharp snips will work too.

You buy a special tool to take off the leaves? That's wasteful.

    • @FlowerMoxie

It's not necessary, but a leaf stripper can be really helpful when you're processing lots of flowers for an event. It's all about personal preference!
