  • I’ve always wanted to make my own precision bass. I’ve put a couple parts basses together but I’ve never made a solid body of my own. A few years ago I glued up a swamp ash body blank but never got past the glue up. So I picked up a flame maple top to go on that body blank and started on my very own bass. I cannibalized an older bass of mine for it’s electronics and measurements. I didn’t venture into making my own neck for this build, a replacement ‘51 Fender neck did the trick. Maybe I’ll try making a neck on the next one. Let me know if you have any questions on the build. Thanks for watching.

  • @trappenweisseguy27
    @trappenweisseguy27 4 місяці тому

    People, be careful when using a jigsaw to make a thick cut like this. It may look like you’re cutting square up top but it may be undercutting underneath. A dark veneer between the body and the top would make it pop better.

    Very nice! I recognize the make of bass from Rondo Music. I have two of their basses. Better quality than the price indicates. I've often thought of building custom bodies from their instruments.

    Hahaha, when you put the black on the front, I was laughing, then it turned out really good. There was a pretty wide array of emotions as you applied the dies to the front as they washed together then different camera angle and they looked great. it is a shame most of it gets covered up by the pick guard. Looks great and sounds good too!

    Nick, this turned out so nice. When you put the India ink all over it, I was thinking that you were out of your bloody mind… but then you sanded it off, which intrigued me… and then the colours were added. Absolute class! You did a super nice job of the fade too. I’m not a fan of the white pearl face plate (I have no idea what the correct name is… I’m not a musician), but overall, it looks fantastic.
    I really hope you get the chance, or time, to do the neck too. I can see that it would need a significant amount of precision, but having seen what you can do on the body, I have no doubt you could do it.
    Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays and I hope you have a great New Year. All the best to you and your family.
