After yesterdays December update mine is running so so so much smoother. Battery life appears to be much improved. Android Auto has also been vastly improved the two times I have used it since the update. Previously it would disconnect or freeze every other time I used it. Really wish companies stopped releasing phones with broken features and functionality at launch because if I was a first time Pixel user the initial experience would leave much to be desired. This is now the Pixel 8 Pro we should have gotten in October.
Only iPhone comes close to doing that. And that is out of budget for quite a few people

I love this phone my first Pixel and i have to say that very impressed. Primary use for work and does everything as intend from screening calls 🤙🏿 to responding to my emails efficiently
Good video. I use the Niagara launcher, which removes the search bar and the at a glance widget. It will give a completely blank wallpaper, or you can select certain icons if you want.

Awesome video so far! I don't know why your battery on the Pixel 8 was bad because mine is surprisingly great. I do keep wifi/bluetooth off when not in use, system haptics I keep off and I keep adaptive brightness on. Maybe that's why your battery life wasn't that great? Either way I love my pixel 8, the way it looks and feels is great. TBH this is my favorite design so far

I've had my pixel 8 pro for 2 months now other than a app taking a little bit longer to open every now and again everything has been smooth sailing for me I highly recommend this phone especially at the price you can pick it for now. Me too, it's an amazing phone, best I ever had and ever seen. However, like you say, I'm a bit disappointed that the price dropped quickly by 200 € during new year sales. I wish I waited 2 months to buy.

Brilliant pics on this phone as a dad of three kids the ones of your little ones is the deal breaker for me as they were soo good that I could print them off for the wall in the living room of mine. i agree, however it gets significant better and better every update, also as expected the software wasn't ready for the phone
You should have watched the video. He mentions that he has the update but the features weren't activated by Google.... yet. And that he will make a video later when they're finally live.
Team, Google is brilliant. Dropping the phones in October. Creates a huge buzz then dropping the features update in December. Keeps the chatter going 👀 well. Played Google well played indeed ✌️❤️🍻

It's kind of interesting to me how they are able to activate the video boost feature without an additional update being needed. People are stating that at just magically starts working apparently😮
@@monkeyboy9896 tbf thats with like every brand out there, just look at apple for example - releasing features later on with the same introduction with a new phone *available in future via update
even all other brands honor, xiaomi, samsung u name it, they adding new features later on - usually with a major android update tho but in reality it never needed the new android version, just easier to roll out

As a longtime Samsung/ATT user, for me the best part of the Pixel 8 pro besides the cameras, is the lack of bloatware. The amount of un-installable bloat on the ATT Samsung phones is insane.

I've only had the phone a week but I've found the image search thing to be really helpful watching something cool on UA-cam I'm interested in and just holding the chin and being able to do a search on what I'm looking at is so quick and convenient

Side note: I think that the slow buffer of the camera is more towards the sensor tech rather than the processing speed. Samsung never had the best sensor in the market for speed anyways. I just hope Google move to Sony again soon.
I thought I wouldn't get any use out of the thermometer either, but it's pretty neat when preparing certain beverages you don't want to boil, like tea or hot chocolate
The glossy back doesn't bother me as most people who want to keep their phones scratch free and drop safe always put cases on their phones. So the finish becomes insignificant.

I've had mine since launch. December update made it a bit more stable, but I still get occasional overheating
Zero overheating on mine. Preordered the P8p so I've had it since release.
Same here, mine only gets hot when im on Data and Watch UA-cam/UA-cam Shorts or TikTok.. when im taking pictures its good.

Agree I think they need to make the camera bar and rails matte.
It's the Pixel 8 for me. That smaller size is so much more manageable and falls naturally into hand. Also, something satisfying about not falling for the upsell from Google for the pro.

@@iAfroTech S23 is a great phone but will be replaced in Jan so will go for a discounted price soon. Also, I prefer the stock android of the pixel with all the pixel 'smarts', as to as the camera of course. What tipped me over was the 7 years security AND software feature updates. Hope this helps.

Im so glad I preordered the 8 pro. I got the Watch 2 for free and bought the pixel buds. I was blown away since I used to be a OnePlus user. The features, the watch, the sound quality of the buds. All of it was perfect. If I had to nitpick one thing, it's you can't use routines on your Watch.
Did you get the deal for the smart watch through att? If so did you have to get service for the watch too?

I'm still running my OnePlus 9 Pro, with having had a OnePlus 5T previous, and I'm getting to the point now where I'm wondering if it's time to make an upgrade. With having had the 9 Pro for almost 3 years, I'm getting concerned for software updates and also I'm not quite satisfied with the cameras picture quality. I'm trying to find out if the camera department in general has made such a huge step forward in these 3 years that it warrants a new flagship phone or if I should wait some more. Gonna have my first kid this year, so I'm kind of keen to have a stable good camera setup that won't fail me in times of need the next few years.
Any pointers for a lost man? :)

I use the temperature sensor all the time specially, when I am making coffee. also, I wish I can use it to check body temperature, specially when my kids are not feeling well and have a elevated body temperature. What would be more awesome is if it has object recognition and change the mode automatically.
Any of you guys notice display color issues on Pixel 8 pro? When comparing colors from a Pixel 5. Colors look more vibrant on pixel 5 than Pixel 8 Pro. Anyone experiencing the same problem?

How do you have access to all of your banking apps with root access? I thought Google/banking apps blocked all rooted devices from having access.

Tensor is alright, optimization can help with that. It’s the modem that is awful, slurps battery like no tomorrow - on 4G.

Hi how are you finding this phone I'm looking to upgrade to this one from the one plus 10 pro will I notice any difference between the two??
I've said it before, but in my use the finger print sensor is hit and miss , face I'd is also hit and miss especially in poor light.
Also if you eyes are not 20/20 and you have the font enlarged slightly , it can have all sorts of annoying effects on the keyboard, and to text windows in general at times , but Google is not alone with these issues.
For my medium large old mechanics hands , I wouldn't mind if the screen was wider , ( personal preference) but the flat screen is nice ( thanks Google ), also the button placement and size is a bit of an annoyance for my big ugly mitts , again personal preference.
Also the keyboard it appears unless I'm using it wrong doesn't appear to have track pad functionality ? Both my galaxy and iPhone have it .

I have major heat issues with my 8 Pro, especially when wireless charging. Got a replacement, same issue. Not sure I want to deal with radiation
Absolutely! I always habe some nitpicks with my phones, but the only thing with the pixel 8 pro for me is the price, it should be 100 bucks less….on the other hand there‘s the long support time... If you can get it with a deal (i preordered, got 150 bucks discount and a free pixel watch) it’s the absolutely best android device you can buy right now, at least in my book 😁👍

14:20 I’ll tell you like I tell the other reviewers… give the thermometer a chance and be sure to have your pixel at the distance they provide. Then use a traditional thermometer. IMHO, the thermometer isn’t a gimmick and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for it. BTW, I use the thermometer often and satisfied with the results…. sometimes. So instead of trashing it, give it a chance. ALSO, awesome long(ish) term review.

Sam, can I ask you a question? The reason I took my 7 pro back was because the front camera was awful for video calling. I video chat with family a lot and it looked just terrible. I am told the 8 Pro has an autofocus from camera now which in theory should fix that issue. Have you checked that at all? Anything you can report? Thanks for your time
Have you tried different lighting environments when on the video calls? The brighter the scene or the more light that's involved, the better it looks.

You literally released this video right before QPR1 December update.. should've waited a little longer as this is basically Pixel 8'a first major update since released which addresses so many improvements in all aspects.

For some reason I ever since I started seeing this phone that hole punch cut out looks larger than any other phone even it looks bigger than one of my budget phones too.

Just got the phone around a couple of months ago. The phone is great but it is not for me because of the following reasons. :
1. I overlooked a very important aspect that 5g does not work despite of the phone supporting the frequency bands if the network/country is not approved by google. The VoLTE and Vo5G also does not work. I travel a lot for work in and around Africa and Asia and other than the official supported networks/countries the phone's software limits the network to 4g.
2. Honestly the network reception/stability was better in my older phone(One plus 8T).
3. A number of features are region locked to supported regions.
4.The service support network to repair the phone is not extensive and is limited.
For top dollar I expected a little better. The above are the
So my suggestion is that if you travel a lot, this phone might not be for you for the above reasons.
Will definitely be looking to replace it in a couple of years if things do not improve.
P.S:I have copy pasted the same comment from a number of other popular reviews in the hope of preventing from making the same mistake I did.

If you can afford such devices then go for the S24 Ultra if it's performance matches it's steadily building hype. Life really is too short not to.
