i've been to tamarindo 3 times. the most fun town in the whole country!! it's where i made some of my best memories. the party life never ceases there
Very true! My son (Patrick speaking here) wishes we lived there. But as we note in the video, both of us feel we would be "perpetual tourists" there. I've lived in several tourist towns and while fun, it's not necessarily calm and the traffic ... don't get me started! Love your comments. Keep 'em coming!
Touristy is what I am looking for. I am leaving NYC and a population from a lot of different places feels like home to me. Busy is good for me.
If you value wildlife over living around lot's of tourists, then you should consider visiting the South Pacific region of Costa Rica ! The number one national park in all of Central America is the incredible Corcovado Park located on the remote Osa Peninsula ! Please visit Drake Bay where you can stay while exploring the park and the mangrove just up the coast ! Pura vida 👍
yes, it is stunning! It is much harder to get to so when there, you are there for a bit. So many want easy access to airports and highways. Then again, many we know in the South say "don't all come down - we don't want the crowds!"

Just moved to poas mountain area with my fiance we are having our son here in the chill mountain area less touristy, but really considering moving to tamarindo September/October. Visiting end of July to check it out seems more like out vibe
Flights to Liberia are WAY cheaper than to San Jose. We usually pay around $700 for 2 round trip tickets.
That's a great price! Which airline and coming from where? I just got a round trip to San José for $650 and thought I was doing great! 🙃

I've never been. I'm not a huge fan of constant heat and humidity, so it's not been on my radar. That being said, my friends from the States seem to love it. As for flights, Juan Santamaria airport seems to have more choices.

Are you doing a video on the coastal areas south of tamarindo? Marabella, San juanillo, Nosara, samara
@jtancinco35 - MAYBE!! Most likely we'll blend those together into one for the area. You just mentioned 2 of my favorite spots on the Nicoya Peninsula!

For retired folks wanting to be near good healthcare services, is San José the only realistic location? Pura Vida!
no - it's not the only location, but it really depends on how much you feel comfortable working inside the CAJA and local clinics. If you do, then there are so many options as the CAJA is a really good (albeit at times slow) system.
@@yourpuravida And even quality CAJA service is separate from private services paid for in cash or insured? Although insurance is difficult to obtain over 65? And an expat retiree can pay into CAJA. for any routine treatment and diagnostics and try to arrange insurance (although by 70 it's not really available)? Are usual prescription meds for the older demographic are available in Costa Rica and through the CAJA?

I was thinking that these issues would be of considerable interest and importance to alot of the viewers who are older than the usual expected audience of people between 20-40. Most UA-camrs putting out videos on moving abroad actually behave and talk as if there isn't anyone over the age of 40 watching UA-cam.

So is Tamarindo Costa Rica's tourist trap? Meaning everything is overpriced, compared to the rest of the sounding areas. 😢
There are lots of touristy areas of Costa Rica. Tama is really beautiful, but very touristy. Some people love it and some people hate it. We're trying to give a good overview so people can decide for themselves.

@@rickyorick - this is a very subjective question. The short answer is "yes" depending on what you are looking for and your style of living. Rule of thumb is in tourist areas you may need to go a little further outside the city center to get "inexpensive", but there are definitely charming and less expensive - you just have to look for them.
