  • The Cub Cadet LGTX1054 is back with an update and a problem. I hope I've found the reason the deck belt keeps coming off every 600 feet! Come see what I found and the so-far smooth outcome!

I put more spring bolts through the deck so you can adjust the belt tension and different belt sizes

I put my spring for the tension on the opposite side of the pulley. Drilled a hole for a bolt for better tension and walla the belt hasn't thrown a belt for a year now

I have the same problem and I videotape it with the pto running and the belt on. I took it to the mower repair shop and the owner watch the video and pointed out to me that the belt going from the left side across to the right side was hitting the tensioner and tearing the crap out of it. The belt that is supposed to use is 138” The mower shop said to use a 136 “ belt and that woul make the gap between them larger and keep it from destroying itself. He did not have a 136” belt in stock so I have to order one and see it. Also there is a lot of wobbly and floppy Ed’s while the pto is engaged. Everything is tight and looks good at rest but terrible when running
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

If the drive surface of the belt (the V part) isn't perfectly smooth and consistent all the way around the belt will wobble and vibrate something fierce! Look for one spot or more on the belt where it looks like the V has a notch in it. This notch happens when the belt stops moving but the PTO clutch keeps turning and burns away a part of the V.

@@SlickRidezGarage Yes, the belts I have been replacing with new ones had several notches in them and vibrated Terry. So if the belt slips when the pto is running will a smaller length belt with more tension on it prevent the slipping?
I assume it will and hopefully solve the problem. Thanks for your input!

Just pickin, tho desperately needed to discern my dilemma tho thanks to you figured out to carefully break the frozen pivoting bolt/shaft in place using a 2×4 + 3lb hammer a little from each side, ended with putting the belt in place with adjustment lever tighte ing belt replaced spring and wired it to the support post...(all while spraying it with penetrating oil as I moved it back + forth a doz. times)
So Thanks for the encouragement I needed it...!

i bought mine from somebdoy 200 hours on it belt was giving me a problem fell off couple times and stretched brought it to the shop belt is put on right realized gotta drive slow thru thick grass and keep it on a higher deck height.

I have to keep mine at a higher deck setting as well, or the deck belt will just fly right off. Very common with the 2012 LGTX1054. In 2013 the spindles and pulleys on the deck are higher up, almost another inch and 1/4 higher to solve this issue.

@@SlickRidezGarage I can go on lower decks but I have to go drive slow especially thru thick grass. but if the grass is medium length gets thru it pretty quick. Definitely was a learning curve but I think i figured the mower out lol
