I’ve seen some people also add a big X in the middle by going corner to corner diagonally.

I think the "real" answer is probably that something you get from a quilting store is best but I just use the "Warm and Natural" stuff from Joann and I haven't had any issues at all! With a coupon it's very affordable and that's important to me! Good luck!
