You forgot the most important thing that Westies love. Westies love Praise from their owner, they love to hear “good boy”, “big boy”, “You are such a sweet boy”. You can not praise a Westie enough, they love to hear it from their owners.
We had a Westie for 15 and a half years. He was a very happy little soul. And he just had an insatiable charm and charisma, where even if you don't like dogs, you couldn't help but fall in love with that little man.
Sami is the cutest little thing. I do all of the tips and the only one I would add is that my terrier loves car rides- it’s so cute seeing his little head popping out the back window and sniffing the air with his ears and hair flowing back from the wind.
I love that! One of life's great pleasures 😂 Haha, it must be so fun for people seeing him! 😍 Sami is indifferent to car rides, he usually naps or looks out the windshield, but doesn't really pop his head out the window. It would be cute though!
My sweet Oscar passed away almost a month ago and still we can't recover from his loss. He was 14 1/2 and he suffered from diabetes the last 6 months, that lead to kidney failure. I am heartbroken from his loss, he was such a "gentleman" very cooperative and added value to our little family. My advice to all westie parents is to enjoy every moment with their westies as we did, their loss hurts so much.
I'm so sorry for the loss of Oscar. Sending you a big hug from California. It's so painful when we lose our babies. I lost one in January and I have another one that's going to go any day. From one dog mother to another sending prayers for you ❤🙏🏻❤️
My Westie Jellybean passed away April of 2022. I was blessed to have him for 15 years and one month. I am not ready to open up my heart. It still is very raw and painful. However it brings me such joy to see Sami he reminds me so much of Jellybean...Please keep Sami's videos coming it truly puts a smile on my heart....Jelly's favorite thing was to go "bye-bye"... a car ride with the window down so he could smell the fresh air and feel the wind on his face.❤
I am very sorry for your loss. I understand, it takes time ❤️ I am glad to hear that watching Sami helps. Aww, Jellybean sounds like he loved a good adventure 🥰 Thanks for sharing!
What a great name. …….. think of all the great moments you had with jellybean, rather than the sad moments. I often think about my westie and when his time comes …… what will I do……? It’s difficult isn’t it…… but it just shows how much you love your westie. Better to call them westie than dog…..as they are so much more than just a dog! Happy memories……and hope you are able to have another lovely westie at some time. X
Really sorry to hear this. They become such great members of the family. It took us many years before we got another dog. Our Westie, London is a real character 😁😁
Mine does all these. He loves tummy rubs…….and we have a couple of games I play on his tummy. He also loves hunt the sweeties…..indoors and in the garden. He loves shopping, going to the park, beach and football. He has a tunnel in the garden he likes and loves going to Christmas fairs and car boot sales…..he is very good at spotting a bargain!
My Westie Hamish passed December 23rd. He adored some back rubs. It would lighten his mood soo much he'd start playing straight after. He loved a little wrestle and a good back rub. I never did think of hiding treats for him but he found my fudge one Christmas and had the best treat of his life while I was out one evening. He also learned where the biscuits were kept in the kitchen and opened the cupboard one day to eat half the box and all the treats before regretting it with an upset stomach later. Also the dancing. My mother practices her fitness classes in the living room occasionally and whenever he saw that he'd go mental. It wasn't something we'd have found out about without that.
Hi, my westie is called Bessie and she is 11 yrs old, she is my mum's, but unfortunately she couldn't look after her and asked me if I would, Bess now lives with ruby my golden retriever and they are such good friends, there is never a cross word between them, Bess has settled in very well this last 6 months and is very happy to live with us, they are so adaptable and smart to live a completely different routine, she still gets to see her mum and dad but knows she comes home with me, they are such cheeky super smart little dogs with a huge personality and heart ❤️, I love her cheekyness and she knows how to play me, she loves her belly rubs and she knows how to play ruby as well, life is never dull when you have a westie that's for sure, I just wanted to share this with you all.❤
Lovely dog, nice lady. I miss my little Norfolk terrier who died in December 22. His toys and things are all waiting for the next little bundle of fluff in my life who will be a Westie. He will be loved and will even be trained to come out on my wifes motorbike when we go off on bike trips. You are an inspiration, thank you.
Our dog Toby was happy with back rubbing. Very independent character. He was master level in Dog agility, he likes it very much. Past away in September in age of 17. Love forever.
I love watching Sami, he is so cute. My 12 year old Westie, Caddie, loves having his butt scratched. Just at the base of his tail, he wags his whole butt 😁. He does not like belly rubs, because he hates being on his back, unless he has chosen to fall asleep like that. They are so funny and fun. Caddie is our 3rd Westie and I have no idea what I will do when he crosses over the 🌈 bridge. Keep those Sami videos coming. ❤❤🐾🐾🐾
I had a Westie. His name was Cal. He became my service dog. I lost him about a year ago he had a heart murmur and was going blind. I miss the little guy he was my buddy.
I had a Westie who's favorite game was me taking a tennis ball, rolling it up in a bath towel in different ways, and he would try and pull and claw at it until he got his ball. Miss you, Findlay.
I loved your video and especially Sami 💖! Your so wonderful with him and doing such a wonderful job. I had my Westie for 16 years and miss him so much. One day Sami will show you something and it will also make him very happy and he will do the happy dance! That's when you will discover just how smart your little Sami is .....enjoy and he is so adorable and thriving. God bless and many years of happiness to you all.
Hi girl!! This is the vid I needed in this moment. The next February I will receive Leo Messi, he's a 3 months old westie. Yes, I'm nervous because he gonna be my second dog in my life, my pekingese Sheena passed away in 2015 then I didn't want to have any dogs or cats in my life again due to her death and my connection with her. Thank you so much for these information. Greetings from Argentina 🙋🏻♀️🇦🇷❤
Sami is a fantastic little guy! You've done a great job with him. My Suzy is going to be 13 on Feb. 14th, she is definitely on team belly rub! I've had 4 Westies before her, they've overlapped at times, I had 3 of them from 2000-2002, other times having 2. We're down to just Suzy now. They are wonderful dogs, love your vids and love your pup!
Thanks so much! ❤ Aww, Suzy is born on Valentine's Day, haha. Happy birthday, give her a kiss from us! They are amazing dogs, you are so lucky to have had 4 of them 😍
We have a 14.5 yrs old Westie ❤️ His vet found mass/tumor in the back of his throat😭 We are giving him all the love and comfort the best we can give while he is still with us 😢 He is a fighter, and we love him so much ❤️
I grew up with a Westie in England and his favourite things to do were digging holes and hunting. He was a friendly little dog but he was a terrier through and through - he was always killing things.
It doesn’t take much to get a Westie into play mode. They are so funny in their mannerism and are so happy when outside with us. We have a walk schedule and never feel he is bored. Having said that he does like to let us know he is okay with us throwing a toy or playing tug of war.
I. LOVE 💕😘💕😘. YOUR WESTIE. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. THEY. ARE. ALL. SO. UNIQUE. !!!!! MY. FRIEND. HAS. ONE. HE IS. 11. YEARS. OLD. BUT. I. LOVE 💕😘💕😘💕. HIM. TO. DEATH !!!! 🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾💋💋💋💋❤️❤️❤️❤️💕💕💕💕😳😳😃😃😁😁😄😄😄😄. THEY. ARE SO. FUNNY. 😄😄😄😁😁😂😂😂😂😃😃😃🙄🙄😳😳😊😊😊😅😅😅😂😂😂😂😂❤️
What makes my Westie happy is home- cooked food just for her like turkey, chicken, and a few vegetables; NO SPICES!!! My Westie loves belly-rubs and walks and being close to me. What makes her unhappy is when I have to leave her at home. Thunderstorms scare her. Her brother, who passed away recently, loved music. He loved all kinds of music, just not head-banger or angry music. He loved classical, country, gospel, instrumental, opera. He especially loved Marty Robbins “Gunfighter Ballads”. There is something about Marty Robbins voice when he sang ballads that he found appealing. And, as he got older, he loved sitting outside.
Lola, and our new puppy, Ellie {both Westies, of course} both love massages around their ears and shoulders. I love the way they stick their heads up like they’re in ecstasy. How can you not “baby talk” Sami? He’s too darn adorable! My daughter is following your instagram (I would but I’m only on UA-cam.} She bought a food puzzle, that just arrived yesterday, because of your recommendations. She loves that Lola looks like Sami, and so do I!💕
Hi Denise, they are sooo cute when they stick their heads up and receive the massages! 🥰 Sami enjoys scratches around the ears too, but not for long. Shoulders, not as much. I'm glad your daughter is trying a food puzzle! I hope it will be a fun experience 💞
Today is January 31 ,, and. I just watched SAMI on my BIG smart TV , O , my God !!;;!! Yes. He did put Smile on my. FACE. 😊😊😊😊😊❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. There is nothing cuter than SAMI. 😊😊❤️❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Take a good look at your Westies ear colour. As an artist...one day years ago I did a quick watercolour sketch of my Westie pal Jack. A few months later I picked up the sketch and decided to refine it. Lo and beheld...his pink ears were now grey???? I started paying attention and found his ear colour would often change. No one...not even Vet has answered my query to satisfaction.
Dougie is definitely a belly rub guy. Loves laying next to you in bed and getting a tummy massage, even loves putting his head over your free arm. He his our second Westie and is a joy ! He loves to play especially fetch with any toy.
Mine is almost 14, but still enjoys tug of war. He's always enjoyed walking under peoples legs when they sit down for a back scratch because the ones we give him arent enough apparently, this was annoying when I was sat in black tights for school
I have a 4 year old, female, black West and Cairn Terrier Mix. She is Team Belly Rubs. Her name is Shiloh! She was the runt of the litter and she weighs around 12lbs, compared to her brothers that I've heard weigh like 16 to 18lbs. We "work" her by playing "hide and seek" with her and her treats. Plus, we've taught her how to stay, sit, lay, paw, shake, spin, and "you wanna fight". The "you wanna fight" is just her standing on her back legs and her touching my fist with her paws, while she's hopping around. It all started because she has so much energy and since she would jump up at me, I started the "What? You wanna fight?". She also LOVES to steal our socks and taunt us with them so we can chase her. If we don't, she will hide them. I have found socks that she "digs" into our couch and in her bed. Since I've had her, none of my husband's and my socks match, anymore. She is amazing with kids! She knows how to be gentle with them. She is a HUGE cuddle bug! Her dad plays and entertains her, more than me; BUT I'm always the person she goes to when she wants to cuddle. Also, when she's feeling sick, all she does is follow me and wants to cuddle with me. She really is my baby. As soon as we get home from work, she is already greeting us at the door. I always say, "Hi my baby! How are you? I missed you!" while she's all excited and greeting me. Her favorite words are, "Potty" and "Outside" so we are very careful when saying them. My husband and I just spell them out to each other so we know who's turn it is.
My Westie Cally wants to come in,our house is built on a bank,so if she wants in she goes to the window and barks,I say go to the front door,or if upstairs znd she outside,I say go around the house to come in,she's 7 years old, definitely a belly rub,she can dance on 2 legs. They are sooo smart!❤
i always play hide and seek with my Dexter ...we also have a game where he takes something that important to me (especially cd disk) in his mouth and run away with it and i chase after him ...pretending that i really try to catch him but can't))) this game makes him so happy like nothing else...
So have u done a video on the infamous Westie-tude! LOL omg I love my little Tia girl but she can be so stubborn at times! It’s that independent streak they have!
No but I should!! Westietude deserves its own video 😂 Sami is the same, one minute the most adorable fluff ball, the next minute so intense and stubborn it's like he is doing it on purpose 😅
love your videos, Sami is beautiful. I just viewed your video about Sami having trouble with his back leg, I hope you dont mind me saying but I think that you will be putting a strain on his back legs when he stands on them, which he does quite a lot in this video, Im not a vet, but maybe you could check next time you go for their advice
Hello, I am glad I found you. My cookie is 3 ,and 4 months ago I lost my husband to a very aggressive and incurable cancer. I used to be with him at the hospital, leaving our adorable friend to my daughter or to some willing neighbours. Now our westie is in mourning, she has stomach and intestine problems and is on medication. She's still looking for him, sniffing every room and waiting at the door. I am also on anti-depressants and I can't play with her as we used to do...Any advice ?
I am so sorry for your loss. Are you able to leave her with friends or your daughter one day a week (or half a day)? Maybe seeing other people helps lift her mood. Doggy day care is great too, if you can afford it. Sami spends one day a week there, just so he can socialize with dogs and other people and it's good for mental health. Long walks help tire her out too. Maybe you can walk her in a new place every once in a while, to expose her to new smells. And at home you can try food puzzles for enrichment, or just hide treats (or even her food) around the house and have her search for it. It's fun for them and it keeps them busy. I hope this helped. Sending you lots of love!
I wrapped up some rawhides for our westie boy dog and put them under the tree for christmas presents. 10 minutes after i did this i heard a crackling ripping paper noise and thought nothing of it. Then 10 minutes after that later i FINALLY noticed our boy westie dog eating the rawhides i had so nicely wrapped for christmas day. He was able to use his sense of smell. Later i noticed he had tried to bury some rawhides BUT because it was indoors he just hid the treats behind the coach. 😂😂😂😂😂
2 things, both estetics, I have a 2 year old boy Westie. I have him groomed and washed regularly but the hair around his mouth is discoloured also the hair around his skirt near his peeper is always stained yellow from his pee. In each case it doesn't matter how much I wash him or products is use I can't get rid. I notice Sammy has neither. What do you do?
I know, once the fur is stained, it won't come off with washing. I have a video with my tips for keeping the beard white and preventing the stains around the mouth and paws: How I keep my dog WHITE around the mouth ua-cam.com/video/yuPG5PzdIUg/v-deo.html 🐶
Poor Sami❤ Being exploited, belly rubs, kisses.....I don't know about all this😍 I adore Westies. He will play forever and kiss kiss kiss.....Sometimes I hope a ball will go under something just for a break😂
My Westie likes a massage while he lies on his side, very gently on his shoulders, thighs, along the sides of his spine, base of his tail. Then he stands up and shakes.
I have to add BALLS (soccer balls, racket balls, tennis balls.) My Westies would chase them until they dropped if I let them. My Westies also loved the beach and were very good swimmers and great hole-diggers in the sand. They love any change of environment whether it is a trip to the beach or a hike through the woods. Most of all they love learning and just being happy. RIP Duncan, Mactavish, and Dudley. I miss you dog clowns.
I'm excited to hear your thoughts on this video! What makes your dog happy? ❤

No but I should!! Westietude deserves its own video 😂 Sami is the same, one minute the most adorable fluff ball, the next minute so intense and stubborn it's like he is doing it on purpose 😅
Great video
Our four Westies are all team belly rub.
Team Belly Rub!
love your videos, Sami is beautiful. I just viewed your video about Sami having trouble with his back leg, I hope you dont mind me saying but I think that you will be putting a strain on his back legs when he stands on them, which he does quite a lot in this video, Im not a vet, but maybe you could check next time you go for their advice
Buddy and me are team back rub.
Wow this Westin huge
🥰
What training treats do you recommend?
Sending you lots of love!
thank you very much for your clever advice I will try to leave her with my daughter once a week.@@WestieVibes
Rawhide isn’t good for them.
I have a video with my tips for keeping the beard white and preventing the stains around the mouth and paws:
How I keep my dog WHITE around the mouth

Lucy loves back rubs
