  • In today’s video we will demonstrate how to upgrade firmware on our DSO 138 oscilloscope. Please, have in mind that firmware update procedure is not something to be taken likely. In case of an error, or procedure interruption, you risk bricking your device for good. It would be prudent to watch this entire video tutorial before you proceed or attempt to upgrade firmware on your DSO 138 oscilloscope. Also have in mind that this video tutorial and steps taken to upgrade firmware relates only, and we repeat, only to genuine DSO 138 oscilloscope from JYE Tech. This procedure is not applicable to other DSO 138 devices, from other manufacturers. If you are not certain which device you own, please watch our previous video where we address the issue of genuine vs. fake DSO 138 devices.
If you want to show you appreciation for the work put in creating this video you can make a small donation to paypal.me/AsQu... We are grateful for any and all support. Thank You.

I updated mine today. I could not backup the original firmware as it kept asking me to open folder. After uploading hte update version, I think the settings were wrong to back up as it was *bin and not hex setting. It had taken me some time to get it to update as when on the *bin setting, it wouldnt recognise the hex file. But it is all done now. I just wish you described everything when showing what you did and clicked on. Some people do, but this was the only video I could find to update the DSO138. Plus I tried to download the DESO138 Flash loader but it wouldnt start up. I think it was because I have windows 11. I had to type Flash Loader Download to get one that worked. But I finally updated and got it installed and up to the latest original firmware.

I have made the firmware upgrade but I had to return to 042 version because using the 061 version causes bad readings on Vpp: instead of 3.7V, after upgrade it shows under 1V.

Thanks for your clear video, I've did everithing as you explain without problems, my PC recognice the adaptor wich is runing in the COM3, my DSO 138 is an original product, I've made the JP1 and JP2 bridges, the screen is blank, in the flash loader demostrator v2.0.0 I selected the port and the baud rate but when try the next step, a dialog box appears telling "No response from the target, the Boot loader can not be started.
Please verify the boot mode configuration and the flash protection status.
Reset your device then try again"
I've checked all the connections and the procedure several times without result, please can you help me with some advice about it?
    Thanks very much in advance

Hello, thank you very much for your comment and question. In our experience, the problem you are facing is connected with jumpers J1 and J2. Although the screen is blank, that does not mean that you have properly short-circuited J1 and J2 jumpers. If you opted to soldier them, please check if you have accidently made a contact with other soldier points nearby jumpers. From the rest of your comment, it would have seemed that you have carefully and skillfully covered all other potential points of failure, so bad soldier connection remains likely cause. Also, you could use a multi-meter to check if there is short-circuit connection between J1/J2 jumper and other soldier points nearby. Also, please double-check that you have cross-connected RX and TX connectors between DSO138 board and USB adapter of your choice.

Hello, the chip of my dso138 oscilloscope is faulty. I ordered a new one. Can I program it from scratch with this program after assembly? thanks

Hello, thank you very much for your question. If you successfully replace the chip on board, you should not have any difficulties programing new (empty) chip with firmware of your choice (providing you have an original device). However, should you encounter any problems in programing new firmware, there is always a fallback option of obtaining very cheap and easily accessible EPROM programmer. You can use it to directly write firmware to the chip, and then place newly programmed chip back to board. Again, thank you very much for your question and we wish you success in repairing your device.

Only time will tell. 😊 Thank you very much for your comment/question. There are a few unofficial firmware updates, available from third-parties, that can be found on various repositories on the Internet. Some of those updates boasts very impressive and advanced features, such as providing second channel, total redesign of user interface and etc. In our video, we demonstrated firmware update procedure for last know/available official firmware from the original manufacturer.

Hi, thank you very much for your question. If you do not have an original DSO 130 oscilloscope from JYE Tech, you SHOULD NOT attempt a firmware upgrade. You may brick your device for good. As of now, there are no official firmware updates for FNIRSI device. We hope this answers your question. We wish you all the best.

Where did you find the newest firmware downloads?
I have been trying to find version 60 for almost a year now.
It was no longer offered for download from the manufacturer's site the last time I looked.

Hi, thank you very much for your question. We are not sure to what are you referring in your question. If you are asking about detecting a bio-electrical field of plants - we have no knowledge about any scenarios where this particular oscilloscope was used in any such experiment. Thank you for a very interesting question. We might look into this matter furthermore. If we find any sources that relates to your question we will keep you posted.
