S01E06 - What is PN Junction | Semi-Conductors | P-type, N-type Materials | Silicon, Germanium Atoms
In todays video we will see how diodes are made from spatulas 😁. Just kidding! Actually, today's video will be devoted to atoms, electrons, valency and chemical bonds. We will dive deeply into properties of couple of chemical elements (e.g. silicon, germanium, aluminum, phosphorus and etc.). We will see how P-type and N-type materials are made, what makes PN junction, and how semi-conductors pass a doping control 😎.
If you want to show you appreciation for the work put in creating this video you can make a small donation to paypal.me/AsQuAsPo We are grateful for any and all support. Thank You.

    • @asquicklyaspossible
      @asquicklyaspossible 9 днів тому

      Hello, thank you very much for your question. In the original version of DSO138 oscilloscope the USB port is not used for anything. It is remnant from DSO138 mini board where USB port was used for serial connection with PC (via suitable USB<->Serial adapter) and there was s software suite that could display signal on computer monitor and perform signal analysis. However, nowadays, both mini DSO138 board and accompanying software are depreciated. We hope this answers your question. 🙂

    I updated mine today. I could not backup the original firmware as it kept asking me to open folder. After uploading hte update version, I think the settings were wrong to back up as it was *bin and not hex setting. It had taken me some time to get it to update as when on the *bin setting, it wouldnt recognise the hex file. But it is all done now. I just wish you described everything when showing what you did and clicked on. Some people do, but this was the only video I could find to update the DSO138. Plus I tried to download the DESO138 Flash loader but it wouldnt start up. I think it was because I have windows 11. I had to type Flash Loader Download to get one that worked. But I finally updated and got it installed and up to the latest original firmware.

      Hi, thank you so much for your question. Some multi-meters have basic square signal generator (the oscilloscope itself has the same square signal generator). Also, there are dedicated cheap signal generators. They generate basic sine, square, triangle and saw signals of various frequencies and amplitudes. You can look online for them. They are also soled under the name "function generators". Usually, they are under $5, with shipping. I hope this helps. Please check other videos on our channel dedicated to works and functionalities of the oscilloscope.

    If I hadn't gone to upgrade the firmware of my new "DSO 138 Oscilloscope" (as I do with all my electronics), I wouldn't have found out I was sold a COUNTERFEIT version of the product which was an exact match to the fake model you displayed in this video. Even though I have already built the kit, I immediately made a return to Amazon stating the website description was incorrect. The seller was selling these as "DSO 138 Oscilloscope Kit" which it is not. Thankfully I am well within the 30 day return window and Amazon processed the return with no problems. And thank you for including the response from FNIRSI, that was a perfect example of politician double-speak which was devoid of any informational value whatsoever. I had been considering purchasing a bench top Oscilloscope that included some FNIRSI models, but after seeing their handling of this issue, I will not consider ever buying any of their products. I think you are performing a valuable service to people who can be and are fooled by unscrupulous vendors selling sub-standard knockoff products. The JYE Tech product may not be the most up-to-date, sophisticated, pocket Oscilloscope; however, it is a great, low-cost and usable instrument for anyone wanting to further their electronics hobby. In any cases, we should all do what we can to identify and boycott counterfeit goods.

    • @asquicklyaspossible
      @asquicklyaspossible 11 місяців тому

      Hello, thank you very much for your question. If you successfully replace the chip on board, you should not have any difficulties programing new (empty) chip with firmware of your choice (providing you have an original device). However, should you encounter any problems in programing new firmware, there is always a fallback option of obtaining very cheap and easily accessible EPROM programmer. You can use it to directly write firmware to the chip, and then place newly programmed chip back to board. Again, thank you very much for your question and we wish you success in repairing your device.

    • @asquicklyaspossible

      Hi, thank you for your question. Since there is no on/off switch on board itself, unplugging DC power supply has the same effect as removing battery - it turns off the board. Only way is to implement mechanical switch between battery and board, so that you don't have to remove battery every time you want to turn off the oscilloscope. Adding a on/off switch directly on board would be an interesting DYI project. Again, thank you very much for your question and we wish you all the best.

      Hello, thank you very much for your comment and question. In our experience, the problem you are facing is connected with jumpers J1 and J2. Although the screen is blank, that does not mean that you have properly short-circuited J1 and J2 jumpers. If you opted to soldier them, please check if you have accidently made a contact with other soldier points nearby jumpers. From the rest of your comment, it would have seemed that you have carefully and skillfully covered all other potential points of failure, so bad soldier connection remains likely cause. Also, you could use a multi-meter to check if there is short-circuit connection between J1/J2 jumper and other soldier points nearby. Also, please double-check that you have cross-connected RX and TX connectors between DSO138 board and USB adapter of your choice.

    What JYE Tech need to do is move on. There are 100+ fakes of this. However it is way behind the times. There are mini-scopes that blow yours out of the water at the same price. Pushing this old design will get you nowhere. Your valid competition (Fnirsi, ZEEWEII, etc..) are way ahead of you. If you don't move on you will be gone. BTW, your blinking diode for trigger was annoying. Very distracting .. so I cut it off. I can see from the waveform on the screen if the scope is triggering. I don't need an overly bright led flasihng in my eyes the whole time.
