Snappers really aren't meant to be seen. In the snapper's perfect world, they would lay hidden in the bottom of a lake where they blend in and never be seen by humans.
I hope you understand the importance of this video!!! here is the prove human and other animals can live around each others. Please never disturb this turtle even if you wanna give it water or food. She had chosen your backyard as a safe place for giving birth to new life. FREE wild animals are beautifull. Many times ive feel tented to capture a Flock of parrots and birds living on my backyard tree, but after i think about watching and listening to free birds while sitting on my chair is LIFE
Awww...so nice that you let her do that! So many people are under the impression that snappers are bad, wicked animals that rapaciously devour game fish and cruelly torture ducklings. Their numbers are on the decline. I'm sure that mamma here appreciated the safe, cozy sanctuary with the nice, soft soil to deposit her babies.
This exactly what one did a couple weeks ago in our yard in the mulch. We "fenced" it off in a sense and hope they all make it but there are many predators in the area as a nature preserve backs up to your yard. Hopefully they can make it. But great vid.
I know this video is old as hell, but I came across it, watching someone else’s turtle laying eggs.. This is so cool, ty for sharing! Nature is so amazing!!! ☺️☺️
I live in upstste NY too. What kind of turtle do you have in your yard? Is it a box turtle? So far this year turtles have been very active because of all thease thunder storms and turtles are most active in the morning and after a rain storm. I have seen alot of turtles in Rockland County hit by cars in the road which is sad!
My snapper lived in my pond 5 years but walked away yesterday during a down puring rain. He got to the end of the drive and looked back st the pond about 20 minutes then left. He was about 1/4 mile away when I rode my atv back later he disappeared to his adventure. Maybe he will wander back. I miss him but nature rules. He wandered in 5 years ago from someplace. I live in northern Michigan out in the country.
We have one that laid eggs next to our driveway. We live on a main road and I'm terrified that I am now responsible for the well being of these tiny little turtles getting back across the road safely!
ok plz answer back how long till a turtle egg hatches cuze i had a turtle yesterday and it dug a whole in ground so we r thinking theres gonna be babies in there so plz tell me its not a snapper turtle just a small turtle
Very cook, my wild turtle came up from the pond today for her egg laying expedition. I didn't realize until today that she was a she and probably laying eggs all those years I kept returning her to the edge of the woods back towards the pond...now I know.
Excellent work, thank you. I just spent an hour and a half filming the same event in my garden, but the quality was not nearly as good as yours, as I was using my cell phone.
I think it's hilarious that you have a turtle statue in your garden! I have one laying eggs in my garden at the moment - that's why I was looking for videos, to make sure that WAS what was going on. Confirmed. ;-) Did you put a fence around the area or anything to protect from wildlife? I am worried the raccoons will get the eggs.
Thanks - this is happening right now outside our kitchenwindow in our flower bed.
So thats where flowers come from!
i guess the turtle statue is the big OK sign to lay eggs
Great music and wonderful video pf this prehistoric creature!

I think the baby turtles thought the statue turtle was their real mother when they hatched.
Nature is beautiful. I hope all the baby turtles survive. Who knows, maybe they'll come back to your garden to lay their own eggs :)
Very Cool
its a very pretty sea creature.
it left monster island to lay its eggs away from godzilla.

How many eggs did she lay?

How big was the turtle itself? It looks big
We observed small holes around the time they should have hatched. We dug in and found the remains of the shells, so we hope they made it.
And one day those turtle seeds will sprout into beautiful turtle plants.. err or something

She came back again this year, but did it under cover of darkness... All we see is the spot dug up and the matted down grass trail in and out.
