    Here’s Why a Post by a Total Noob Made $545.75
    Without proper formatting, followers or any experience on the platform
    Give Value
    Even though I didn’t know how to use Markup and the post was not formatted for Steemit, CONTENT is more important than design. People found VALUE in my post because:
    My article was over 11 pages long in my google docs. It showed the reader how they could apply the tips in their life to sell and persuade, but more importantly, it opened with a story…
    Open with a Story
    When you open a post with a good story, it creates an “information gap” with curiosity and people will want to keep reading to see how the story ends.
    Expert Marketer Derek Halpern from Social Triggers* says that while images and good headlines grab attention, “curiosity helps you KEEP attention.”
    Stories are the key to Persuasion
    Which would you rather read? A boring article about research, or an entertaining STORY demonstrating all the key points that the researchers proved.
    People LOVE stories. Even before TV, people gathered around campfires to tell stories. Stories convince and persuade like gangbusters.
    My nephew Brandon is one of the best storytellers I know. He makes everyone laugh hysterically until our stomachs are begging for mercy.
    Not surprisingly, he has won several awards for being the top sales person at work.
    Back It Up with Proof
    I didn’t just give advice. I backed up each sales tip and point with cited research from my decades of studying consumer/buyer Psychology so people could see that I was legit.
    Shock Value
    Nobody expects to see sales and persuasion hacks from the Girl Scouts, so my story and tips were outrageously unexpected, and made people curious.
    Curious people will move mountains (and even read super long articles) to satisfy that curiosity.
    Emotional Contagion
    Like I wrote in my article, Studies show that strong emotions are actually contagious. The real name for this is actually “Emotional Contagion.”
    Basically I was EXCITED when I wrote the article. This is a topic I love! People who read my words could literally feel my excitement. Sounds woo-woo but studies* back this up.
    5 Hacks Review:
    1.Don’t give advice, instead SHOW people how they can benefit.
    2.Use good stories to pull readers in
    3.Back up your tips with real research.
    4.Do the unexpected.
    5.Be EXCITED about what you share.

    Wow, this is so cool. Your video is so clear and informative. I just found Steemit and I've got TONS to share with this planet and have been working so hard to find the type of media that I could use to express the gifts I've been given. You really motivated me to get going. I'm always going....but I really needed this modem to express. Thanks you for being you so well!

    I am a good story teller. I love embellishing and already good story with humor.
    I am technically challenged and no techie friend or family member to do the work for me, which while making me crazy, may be a good thing.
    Anyway. I loved your video and story about how to get started, at least the artistic part, story telling.
    It gives me hope and excitement.

    How does Steem prevent plagiarism?

    • @SarahMJordan
      @SarahMJordan  7 років тому +6

      They have bots that check for it. I know because they flagged one of my posts because they found it posted on my blog.

    • @AckzaTV
      @AckzaTV 7 років тому +5

      Cheetah bot and Steemcleaners bot! And when people dont post their own work, it shows, and they either get flagged (downvoted) or just not upvoted and never get very popular!

    • @GaryMcKinnonUFO
      @GaryMcKinnonUFO 7 років тому +2

      Google will also drop one or both versions of a post in search result ranks because it doesn't like 'duplicate content'.

    • @OttoRappTheMystic
      @OttoRappTheMystic 6 років тому

      The problem is you can't talk back to the bot. Yes, leave a comment, but on their end, nobody reads it, just other steemers. Just like you can't talk back to a Facebook moderator.

    QUESTION. what are the copyright fair use policies on Steemit. Are we still allowed to use other people's material if it's under fair use? Can somebody please answer this question and point me in the right direction on information. Thanks

    • @SarahMJordan
      @SarahMJordan  6 років тому

      Great question, thanks for watching. I'm going to assume you are talking about public domain material. According to the law, yes. According to Steemit, I am not sure. It can't hurt to try. The worst they can do is remove the post.

    • @wakingup491
      @wakingup491 6 років тому

      I thought that things cannot be removed from the blockchain, it can hurt because if I use movie clips for critique and make money from it when the law says I can't I will face a lawsuit, This is why I'm asking. I've uploaded a videos on Dtube called "nofap Build Your Sexual Energy Leave ya Knob alone" that is just me talking, but if I upload another one I have on UA-cam like "Interracial talk pt2. Edge of Glory" that uses a clip of Lady Gaga in the video will I be in the wrong. I have other videos on YouTue that use a lot of movie material to explain point, on UA-cam I can get away with fair use but on Dtube I'll be making money, I Don't know the rules. Cheers for the reply :)

    Hey, I love Derek Halpern's stuff too! Smart guy. so cool that you impressed him. One question: why is your article on Steemit written as if you were a male? You write that the girl scout called you, "Sir" and you call yourself a "guy"?

      @Big Member -- That's funny, but when I showed the steemit business model to a business lawyer and financial advisor, they both called it a pyramid scheme.
      They both have experience in crypto currency as well, just an fyi.
      Sorry I dumb down the comment to what they said, but I can't explain the way they explained it. Regardless, pyramid scheme nonetheless.

    This causes new signups to Steemit to be disappointed when hardly any of the new signups will see this happen. They need to know that reality of this platform is a great thing to experience and in the distant future MAY experience some post growth so they don't turn into "dead fish" and leave the system. Why don't you say its a GREAT alternative to youtube! that's a benefit! Right? I would opt for telling them about Trevon James who has worked hard for two years on the platform and posts 3 times a day and averages 20 bucks a post! that's reality.

      The money doesn't come from nowhere, someone has to lose for you to gain and the more participants it has the more it generates then when it halts it begins to lose value exactly like a ponzi scheme.

      alright princess money from thin air. Luckily for you your not in the losing category of the transactions, im not dumb enough to invest however i'll stick to my $213,000 profit since starting from £100 in 2015. bitcoin is the original gee. a ponzi is a ponzi regardless of how stable or drawn out it is, Its the reason speculaters didnt want to intial invest in bitcoin because they thought it was a bubble, steem is actually a bubble, its doomed from its invention like fiat currency(with interest systems(you need more people circulating and using the money to keep it incheck with inflation from the continious printing of money being matched with interest to offset the collapse but it only buys time the money doesnt exist it will collapse at some point) the shit crypto is tryna make a move away from. But you keep participating in the ponzis for a quick buck idgaf i'm at a point where i can live compfortably made from nothing but smart trading and mining.
      regardless just like BITCOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNECT you are a participant and a spreader of the ponzi and you are responsible for old as people losing their homes because their stupid as fuck and just buy STEEM to be taxed to pay you. and unless more people is added to the ponzi then it will crash at that point if more people participate then it drags out the ponzi like fiat currency with interest.

      Nimisidiv What Ponzi scheme are you talking about? Lol. It's called mining, moron. Proof of brain, not proof of work, and it's stake based. The blockchain prints tokens (inflation) to pay out rewards, it doesn't use investors' funds to do it. Name one Ponzi scheme where you can start earning without having to invest a dime? I hope by now you have realized how totally stupid those comments you left are.

    Great, so the marketing and sales 'content' I''m trying to escape on UA-cam, facebook, twitter, instagram, etc. is going to be annoyingly prevalent on Steemit as well. Truly, blockchain technology is changing the world. Yawn.

    Her first Steemit Post Made $545.75 after 2 years?

  • @Olhamo
    @Olhamo 6 років тому

    Sarah, lots of good stuff in that Steemit post, while I agree with the first commenter there, who advised headings and such... But why is the story you open your Steemit post with coming from a male, ( called “sir”) when the reader gets the impression it is ‘your’ story, the way it is presented. it makes the story feel fake, and one loses trust in the voice, while i admit, i read the post almost entirely.
    seems a small thing, but still...

      @SarahMJordan  6 років тому

      Thanks for taking the time to comment. I wrote the post in the voice of marketing Guru Derek Halpern. He was so impressed with it that he interviewed me for the chance to be his copywriter. Sorry you feel that made it seem fake.

      ah, thanks for the reply. maybe I missed something, such as you saying it was in his voice... ? or otherwise introducing him, in the article, because i may not have read closely enough... should be a small thing to tweak. the thing is, I would tather hear your voice, be ‘all in’, as it were.
      I also sometimes find it odd when people I write with do persona poems, esp. when men write as women, which, to be frank, rarely works, imv.
      ☃️ best to you... i enjoyed the video, and the look at steemit, on the whole. Have you done much (more with the platform), or do you find it, as it seems others have criticized, to be less than its promise might inspire? btw, natural genius, to heart” a comment that seems to be be partly critical, yet is honest. That really impresses me. And you inspire me. thanks.

      haha! . “..so impressed..” well, they do say, “imitation.....flattery”. that just makes me laugh, no offense meant. Btw, please excuse the errors in my next reply. for some reason i have temporarily lost my edit feature... will correct it later.

    • @SarahMJordan
      @SarahMJordan  6 років тому

      I "hearted" your comments because although they offered some criticism, you were right! I didn't introduce the post or say that I was writing in someone else's voice. Also I could tell you watched the whole video and read my article. That's the thing with Steemit...you can't go back and edit anything. I do sometimes still post on there but it has been taken over by people who just leave lame comments that say "upvoted. Please follow me!" etc. I liked Steemit better before. Thanks again for your thoughtful comments.

    It's because you're white. Frankly - I love the steemit platform; but as long as the money people make is based on 'votes' - it's a popularity contest. white women are VERY popular within white society; most white people I see are making big money on Steemit; simply because they are white. I know y'all never want to hear that but it's true; you're only Voting on other white people's articles; you only share and resteem other white people's articles; and if a black person's politics don't lean towards trump, you're downvoting .... all facts; You'll deny them; but ... Denial doesn't disprove Fact. Continued success. As you said, you wrote some b.s, it wasn't your best, and made $500? On the first post? Easy To make money when you're white

      I'm sorry you feel that way. My first post was posted in a man's voice with a black male's photo. If you read it, you would know that.
