Excellent content. Interesting variety and I think this is a great presentation idea. Sunday at the Village Vanguard is absolutely sublime. Nice to see a good version of it out there. Yes, Evans and LaFaro had a special connection.... both understood space and were unified in how they wanted to use it. Such a shame that LaFaro passed at such a young age. I don't think Evans (as great as he was) ever had quite the same connection with another musician.
This Kali Malone album is extremely beautiful. Very expansive for a single instrument, both wide and deep. Whilst drone based, it’s devoid of menace, more melancholic, but optimistic. Wintery, whilst looking towards a reawakening. A truly wonderful morning listen. Many thanks for your introduction Michael 🙏🏼

Back in the mid to late 60's , it was cool to create these sound collages for "stoners" with headphones... lots of bands were doing this....plus the bands would get high and it would bring out their inner Stockhausen..(lol)
100% agree on Kali. It's not always the perfect mood but when it's right, it's VERY right. I was lucky to get the first pressing without paying too too much. I don't have any others of hers on LP. But I do have one on cassette :-). You need to also check out the 'other' Swedish organist - Ellen Arkbro. Beautiful! The Hooker Cover is so marvelous. Perfect. Evans Trio 'Sunday at VV' is and will likely always be my favorite all-time jazz LP. Nice to see you today. We need a proper catch-up soon - been too long, my friend. I myself do not have my own channel but hopefully someday I will. I do have and collect some vinyl. The reason for this message is to say that of all the channels I am subscribed to, I have to say yours is the one that I thoroughly enjoy! I have no idea what it is but you have a way to draw in your listeners, your episodes are interesting, informative and so so enjoyable! And the most amazing part of this is that I don’t even collect any of the MoFi or HiFidelity recordings you talk about, nor do I even own a turntable at the moment!! I have never in my life heard this type of pressing BUT after having been a part of your episodes I feel as though I own and have heard every album I’ve heard you talk about!! I do hope to someday soon be able to buy a turntable worthy of playing these wonderful albums you talk about and to become a part of this wonderful vinyl community, but until then I will be a dedicated subscriber and listener to your wonderful episodes! Fantastic concept allows you to showcase and us to be introduced to LPs deeper into your collection - you already cover new releases very well. This is a nice addition to your videos. I do not think that you should restrict this new concept to in-print LPs

I do not. Although not my favorite genre there is still plenty of Rap and Hip Hop that I enjoy. I don't see it represented to much in the VC so I was glad to see it shown. Hardly audiophile, but I still have a Run DMC cassette from back in the day.

@@Michael45RPM In the meanwhile after spin…, "Memoirs of a Geisha OST" it's not a very good pressing from Music On Vinyl (that's the usual miss-hit with that guys), but the music push you inside it, that's a great OST. Nicolas Jaar: Cenizas, got a bad one also with a permanent noise on the right channel that annoys me, that's always a desapointment (only listened to onde side). There's a lot o vinyl out there without any quality consistency.

RUN DMC is iconic I was so happy to get a copy of that album. I think for the new One Step - Janis Joplin and Carole King they have increased the size of the release to 10k on one and 7500 on the other. However, it would be nice if they had a more diverse offering but I guess it comes down to licensing.

Hi Michael! My current recommendation would be John Hurlbut and Jorma Kaukonen, “The River Flows.” One of the best acoustic guitar and vocal recordings I have ever heard. Last I knew it was still available at Jorma’s Fur Peace Ranch website in the store section. Secondary market is already charging double the list price!
I have 0314 of Raising Hell and that BASS WoW! I only had the original Run DMC on cassette so cant compare. I missed out on the AP 45 of Serve you right to suffer but got the VMP version but want to upgrade if they do another pressing.
I bought a few vinyl records on your recommendation .... and I can recommend you, the Polish small label AC RECORDS, classical jazz at the highest level with incredible sound quality, be interested, you will be pleasantly surprised. It’s re-imagined Zelda game music but with down tempo electronic beats. 1 is on vinyl (not audiophile quality but ok) and 2 is only streaming right now but will be released on vinyl in late April.

Hello, have you ever came across the same record/pressing sounding different? I received a copy of Neil young's - harvest. Sleeve arrived damaged and they sent me another before I had got round to sending 1st copy back. By chance I played 2nd copy and thought that didnt sound as good as the 1st copy. Anyone came across this? Is this common? 1st copy sounds more alive, 2nd was ok but a bit flat.
This is absolutely possible. Could be a different stamper. Also, if one came from the beginning of a stamper, and the other came from the end of the same stamper, there could be very noticeable differences.

I think the Cat Stevens 33 is also out of print now. In this case I have both and actually dont think the 45 is much better at all.

Run DMC is great and the narrow soundstage can be remedied by moving closer to the speakers, try it!

Do you listen to any Contemporary Jazz? I recently discovered GoGo Penguin (which I enjoyed a lot) and wondered if you had any other recommendations.
Not much contemporary when it comes to Jazz, in a way the avantgarde electronic is the contemporaray Jazz for me

I have the 33 rpm Tea for the Tillerman. I missed the 45 rpm. The 33 sounds great but I really wish I had found the 45 before it went out of print.

No can´t say that this happened to me, somewhat strange... but possible of course...

@@Michael45RPM Die Original lp war ein 4 lp set 33 RPM. wenn die das album in 45 RPM bei MFSL rausbringen würden, dann wäre es wohl ne 8 lp box^

It's hilarious for me to see RUN DMC get the 45 rpm audiophile treatment. I got the original issue when it first came out.
wegen Dir kaufe ich zu viele LPs,...aber ein Teil Deiner Empfehlungen geht in meinen Laden und alle Deine Fans wundern sich, dass mein Repertoire so vielfältig ist,....danke für den Input.---wenn Du mal in Frankfurt vorbei kommst,..schau mal vorbei,..MSFL Meddle,..auch ok...
