    I remember watching this quite a bit as a kid as it came on a lot on HBO and Showtime. There's old legends about how to tell someone is a werewolf, a unibrow is one of the signs, also their eyes reflect light like animals at night, and if their middle finger is shorter than the ring and index fingers so they seem to match in size.

      I remember some of those characteristics too from books I'd read as a kid.

    Love this movie watched it on vhs back in the 80s and recently grabbed a dvd version, such a fun metaphor for puberty and a great horror story anthology.. great to watch a review on a little known classic..

    Loved this creepy fairytale coming of age film based on short stories by Angela Carter.

    It’s been a favorite for years and years!!! My friends and I watched it every week when we were in high school. Obsessed! Lived the story too!

    An awesome video to make the day better, I had not known Angela Lansbury did a werewolf movie, but I can tell you that a lot of the things they mention in here are taken from real wold werewolf myths.

    Did the inability of fans to come up with this during 10th anniversary trivia inspire this review? Note: I do believe Stephen Rea is pronounced Steven Ray but only because of repeated listens to the trailers for The Crying Game and Interview With The Vampire. Then again, American producers, trailer makers, and media have gotten names wrong before.

    • @DiceRollen
      @DiceRollen  9 місяців тому +2

      Interestingly enough I had already been working on this before the trivia stream.
      Got it, yeah certain names are pronounced in all sorts of different ways it seems. 😝

    Folks hardly ever mention that this is based on a story by Angela Carter. It's from her book The Bloody Chamber. I love this movie and have since it first came out, but few people seem to be aware that it was written by a prominent feminist author.

    I've never seen this movie but The Company of Wolves sounds like a retelling of Little Red Riding Hood and growing up I love that story so I'm definitely going to check this movie out because it's on AMC Plus

      It's strongly based on Red Riding Hood and Grimm's Fairy Tales, I recommend checking it out.

    I've seen it. Not a fan. Not sure why but I just found it dull. I think Wolfen is a pretty underrated werewolf movie.

    • @Caffeine_Club
      @Caffeine_Club 9 місяців тому +2

      Wolfen is a great little horror film, an even better novel. The creatures in the novel/film are not traditional werewolves as they were more of an intelligent mutation, who have lived on the fringes of humanity and picked off our weak and vulnerable. They aren't ever human. It's mainly abridged ( the new version with the whole novel is over 8 hours on Audible, but this one gives you the highlights). Highly recommend:
