These wonderful cartoons used to be featured on the Disney Channel in the 80s. We have a VHS tape where we recorded some hours of it. This was one of the shorts on it. For some reason the part where the mask's face melted and turned from happy to sad always stuck with me.
Funny...I was sitting here and had a flash back of that face and couldn't remember what it was from and been looking for about an hour now and searched for disney cartoon fire scenes and some how this popped up and it all came rushing back when I seen the name and the first few seconds and it all came back from 30 years ago. Glad I found it or I wouldn't have slept tonight...lol Also the flame turning blue was the other flash back but couldn't remember.
I don´t know if it was just me, but as a (little) child I had a kind of impression that in a number of their old shorts Disney seemed to love burning butts form characters of theirs; probably not so "fashionable" nowadays... This moth, some gang in a western Mickey short, and even the main characters (Donald, Pluto, Goofy and Mickey himself) they all went at some moment through that harrowing experience. Those scenes impacted me as a child a great deal.
Only the biggest Disney fans will say they’ve seen this! I’m shocked knowing that this is the first time I’m noticing this one exists. Shame that not ALL silly symphonies are streaming on Disney+. This and MusicLand being one of many Disney Shorts.

I think she was probably mocking the flame, maybe. Either that, or the flame was literally hypnotic- at least until it tried aggressively to catch her and set everything on fire.
I think it's a spoof off the old line about how moths simply cannot resist the flickering glow of a fire. _Like a moth to the flame_ is a very old saying about following irresistible and foolish desires to one's detriment.

It's actually the moth caterpillars who eat things like wool. I like moths and think they're cute, but ended up with an infestation of pantry moths and had to put my foot down. They were eating paper towels and all kinds of odd stuff, no real damage but it got really annoying having moths and little caterpillars that looked like maggots everywhere.

This cartoon can be said the most hated, because the moths are the bad ones for entering the shop without permit, as well destroying products meant for customers. And the flame should have think smart, he could have multiply himself since he left fires everywhere. Means he should able to make more helping hands since everything here is burnable.

the fact that the animators made it known to us that the girl moth tried to kill the fire using the fire insurance the shop owner had, but the fire went through it so the shop owners screwed 🤭
so let me get this story straight- a company of pests breaks into a house and starts to destroy property, the fire who lives there flirts with the mothgirl who takes the bait after her boyfriend forget about her in favor of food, after some playing around she decides no, the fire is persistent and chase her, starting to burn down the property to get to her, the other moths drench the place and kills the guy who lives there.
