Nah, Almere is an extension of Amsterdam. You already have visited Meppel. Make videos about Groningen, Deventer and Nijmegen instead! (Not coincidentally my favourite cities).
It's always good when someone points out there is more then Amsterdam. Off course not only Flevoland, but hey, it's a start 🙂 I would love to show you a Noord Hollandse Kermis, in Heemskerk in september.
I haven't been in Almere for a very long time (15 or so years), but it has really changed a lot since I last saw it. The concrete festival terrain Paul mentioned was basically every outskirt of the city...
Hey man love the channel! I have been telling people who come to Amsterdam to also visit Weesp! It's a small city just outside of Amsterdam that you can visit by train (15min). And yes I say city because it has city rights because from the late Middle Ages, the river Vecht was a defensive line and it remained a military defensive line until the Second World War. So it got city rights somewhere in 1300. Since 2020 I believe it's also now part of Amsterdam and not "Het gooi". It's a lovely little town, I always call it Small Amsterdam. I grew up there :) Now live in the city of Amsterdam. It;s great for tourist who want to do a small low key visit outside of Amsterdam.
Thank you, I appreciate the support! And I've been once to Weesp, it definitely felt like a small "gezellig" version of Amsterdam! I need to go back :)
Paul has a very lovely accent and he explains everything very well. I myself work in Lelystad but live further up north in Flevoland. Hope you visit there too!
We are enjoying your vlog on so many levels, we do stock video and have thought about relocating again, but admire you and your family. We wish you every happiness and success.
I actually remember Lelystad being born in the 1970s ... it was still covered with brackish water .. and Almere was still weiland. My, how times have changed.🌹
Wij gingen vaak naar leuke plekken in Flevoland (nou ja eigenlijk ook in andere provincies) maar Walibi World daar was echt leuk toen ik jong was. It’s so fun to see you enjoy all these different parts of the Netherlands!
That driving exam statement was unexpected 😮 fair play Almere and I can attest to public transport in Almere. Young . Picked on but a place to watch in 50 years. thanks for letting me see a different side and opinion. ❤
This video shows you have to experience things for yourself to really know if it is good or bad. Nice to hear you enjoyed your time there. Great video Sam. ❤❤❤
Hey buddy, I'll be visiting in June, it's going to be a tight schedule but I was thinking we could do a vid, how things have changed since I moved to the States.
You don't shy away from any place in the Netherlands. Almere was very recognizable, we were even there last weekend. Almere is quite nice, but for some reason it is always windy. I think I've been to Lelystad once, but I'm not sure. Nice video again.
@@exploringtheforeign We have some family in Almere, so we've been there a few times...The shopping centre is nice, just extremely busy so short before Xmas.
I’ve never been here however it’s on my to do list, but in a big circle round Almere and Lelystad and Bataviastad. Too bad the nature park doesn’t have the reactive keeping of the wild stock. Batavia land would be something to se and something I haven’t been to.
Nice job for a City Slicker, Sam! If I'm ever invited by the city of Almere I would probably say yes, but I just don't feel the gezelligheid that the rest of the Netherlands has 🤷♂️ I love the nature though!
Hey man! If you ever feel like doing a video or two in different dutch cities I'd be more than happy to give you a tour through Leiden for a video or without. I love my city which is really just one big town!
Always down to explore other cities, even if it isn't for a video! But I've learned from past experiences that it's hard for me to promise a date for when😅
Ay no problem, it's honestly best to see it in the summer. Just shoot me a message when you feel like, doesnt always have to be planned! (I know that that is apparently rare for a dutchie to say lol :)@@exploringtheforeign
Been in Lelystad and Almere regularly, but only if necessary. I like the old city fibes more like Zwolle or Leeuwarden. I live in Flevoland as well, but on the other side of the bridge 😁. My dad was a mason for 40 years. Almost half of his working life he spent in Almere and Lelystad building it.
Thank you Sam for branching out from Amsterdam ! Great idea ! All this is new to me. Meaning I was aware of it of course but never took the time to explore the area when I still lived in my favorite city in my first 40 years. How I regret that now when I live on the other side of the world and cannot travel anymore. There is so much more than Amsterdam . I hope you will explore more of the nature of the country even though, as you state, you are not a ‘nature guy’. Thank you !! 🇳🇱💕🇳🇱💕🇳🇱
Thank you for watching, Yvonne! Always a pleasure seeing you still enjoy the videos after all of this time. And I hope that despite you not being able to physically travel to these places, that you still feel a bit there through these videos🙏🏾
Funny video. It really made me laugh out loud to hear you speak Dutch with the unmistakable rich, chewy Californian accent. 😂 Respect, well done man. But honestly, as we say in Dutch: Lelystad? Flevoland? Ik zou er nog niet dood gevonden willen worden. Nothing beats Amsterdam, sorry.😅
As much as I hate Almere, I love Lelystad and Zeewolde. The province has some grate nature areas, and the coastline of Lelystad is super beautiful and relaxing!
The Waterloopbos would've been interesting for you I think, it was for simulating waterflow for better water management before fancy smanshy computers took over that role
It's always Amsterdam isn't it Sam??? Our country has so much more to offer than just Amsterdam. Sam please don't get me wrong i love Amsterdam as well but it's a bit overhyped and overrated do you agree with me? Other than that a great video Sam keep up the great work👍 En nog een prettige dag toegewenst?😊
“I am not a nature person?”; dear you ARE part of nature: all living organisms, their habitat etc, is part of nature. Nice film though; I should visit Oostvaardersplassen more often; good wish for 2024!

I can understand that from the perspective of an American, Almere seems sort of nice. But from a Dutch /European perspective, it is ugly as fuck... Not for nothing the nicknames for the "cities" in Flevoland are Lelijkstad en Alsmerig.
Ach weer zo'n intelligente opmerking.
Really enjoyed my time in Flevoland which was almost a surprise becuase I never hear much great things about it haha. I hope you enjoyed the video!
I was also surprised. Normally I can't wait to leave lelystad. Nice Collab brother

I can respect the beautiful features they make in these places, and I’ve been only there for work, but just give me the older city’s.
As a dutch person I approve, love your videos :)
