This was very helpful. I recently purchased a CPO Volvo and the dealer offered ceramic coating. I wanted to investigate before investing. My 2005 Volvo had an incredible paint job that always looked great so I did not want to compromise the factory paint with an after-care product. I visited a detailing shop to learn more about contemporary protections and it seemed like, with some options, I almost was joining a religion. This is my only car now and will be driven regularly. I live in the Northeast and regular car washing is required. From your video, I've decided that the ceramic wax is my best option. In less than 4 minutes you provided very valuable information addressing my concerns. Thank you.

I have a brand new Camaro ZL1 with Radiant Red Tintcoat paint . It’s darker than a candy apple red I believe. But I’d like to have it ceramic coated before it’s driven .

Both, my daily driver and classic VW Bug get a monthly coat of Ethos Ceramic Pro Aerospace wax. I use a random orbital polisher with microfiber pads and the result is incredible. Let the product sit for about two hours and buff by hand with microfiber towel. Always in the shade. For car enthusiasts and weekend wrench warriors, better go with the wax.
Which polisher do you use? I want to get one but don’t want to get one that is too fast for the ceramic wax part
Does the ceramic wax contain silica?
Just curious... how would a customer know if the detailer actually applied 3 layers of ceramic coating (as per his price quote)?
No reason to apply 3 layers... some will apply a 2nd coat to verify they haven't missed a spot during the 1st coating..

This is often used as a marketing ploy to compel customers to believe they're getting more protection when in fact its not adding anything to the final result. 2 Layers is all that is needed with any form of protection. Anymore is wasteful
Speaking of wasteful, would using the ceramic wax on top of the coating do anything? Like enhance the wet look? Or no?
