Alas, my bucket runneth over. Not to fret, cycling of such serves to strengthen one’s health and hence lengthen one’s life. A virtuous cycle to live by.
hiddenchildren We has a pretty tight schedule so were very lucky that Mother Nature was in a good mood. I’ve been in Norway in summer before and barely saw the sun so this day well and truly made up for it!
First Trollstigen and now this. Dammit Norwegians, how can your backyard be so beautiful?! :D Love your blue kit Mike! And have you thought about covering Iceland? I don't know if there are good mountain roads there, but the scenery is just too amazing to skip at!
So inspiring! Thanks for the great videos, you make these climbs seem so easy! I often think of this as I’m huffing and puffing ( and cussing) my way up the Blue Ridge Parkway in Roanoke, VA
Mike, your videos are truly inspirational. I am recovering from a procedure to fit a stent into one of the arteries leading to my heart, and watching your videos is the motivation I need to get fitter and back on my bike. Thank you very much
Great video! Thank you for doing this! I will be in Norway over this summer for Ironman Norway, and then traveling all over afterwards looking for excellent rides to go easy and take in the scenery. Will take this one in for sure!
Doctor, doctor, I have a bad case of job jealousy! :) Another great video, Mike. If only I had enough money and time to visit all these places. My next cycling trip is to the French side of the Pyrenees, but I have a 6 month wait for that one, and the time is going so slowly...
Thank you for your appreciation. Come join us in the French Pyrénées on one of our cycling tours and we can ride the cols together! More info available at thecolcollective.com/cycling-tours. Stay tuned for our next video, hitting the channel around the middle of next week. Ride safe and enjoy! Mike
Hope you got to try yourself up Juvass while you where in the area. Norway's answer to Mont Ventoux expect that it starts at a bit more humane altitude of about 500m.
Hey! Big fan of your channel. It would be fun if you considered doing the road to Juvasshytta in Norway. It's quite a spectacular road and a hard climb, not too many are aware of it so that would be something to do! Keep up with the good content, cheers from a viking. Another mesmerizing video btw!
From 'dangerousroads.com' : « The road to Juvasshytta is pretty steep. Starting from Galdesanden, the ascent is 13.8 km long. Over this distance, the elevation gain is 1.283 meters. The average percentage is 9.3 %. But the climb includes sections up to 16.0%. »
been riding up there with my girlfriend last september. The landscapes of norway are special and stunning in generell but this area and climb is just simply beautiful! Although the switchbacks of Trollstigen are way more famous and they are cool too, but this is actually the more intense and more exciting climb. btw you forgot to ride the Knuten ;)
Amazing and profoundly beautiful. There must have been significant temperature differences between sea level and the glaciers...doesn’t even look like snowmelt on the road...was it below freezing up top still? Thanks Mark
Djupvatnet, only a few kilometers from the Geiranger Fjord, but from here the water flows east and southeast several hundreds of kilometers, until it reaches the sea southeast of Oslo, close to the Swedish border. So, although you are starting at sea level at one of the fjords of western Norway, on this ascent you are crossing the watershed between western and eastern Norway, and the last part of the ascent is in eastern Norway.
Excelente video Mike.
Just curious, but it seem that your finishing each climb with fantastic mountain sunsets with great effect. Do you always plan on doing this ? Please continue !
Zen Wheel It certainly looks that way! The reality on this occasion was that we filmed Trollstigen earlier that day and it was the endless summer sun that meant we managed to get to the top of Dalsnibba just as it was setting. Absolutely stunning and pretty surreal being at the top of a mountain at midnight and it still being light. The downside was that by the time we got back to Geiranger the fjord ferries had long stopped, meaning we couldn’t get back to our chalet but luckily we managed to find a hotel still open in the early hours of the morning. Long day but definitely worth it and one I’d repeat in a heartbeat.
Sognefjellet starting from Skjolden at Lusterfjorden would be fantastic! Jotunheimen Rundt Gran Fondo - is that the one starting at E16 from Lærdalsøyri up to Filefjell, down to Fagernes, then left following Rv 51 up to Båtskardet, down to Bygdin, up to Valdresflya, down to Vågåvatnet, again left following Rv 15 to Lom (up at Garmo and then down again), left in Lom following Rv 55 through Bøverdalen, up to Sognefjell, down to Lusterfjorden, a little up and down again at Hafslo and at last ending in Sogndal? Back in 1999 I was going by bus from Otta to Krossbu at the day of this event. The bus passed some cyclists looking rather tired! I think it is fair to be tired after such a day.
Nope, I filmed this long before I had the new EVO Disc. You'll see quite a few videos coming out with my older EVO as we work through producing all of the climbs. Ride safe, Mike
It didn't start as a night ride but pretty much turned into one. We finally finished at just before midnight, absolutely beautiful up there at that time of day....er, night....er, you know what I mean ;-)
Well he *started* in June, uploaded in Feb so I guess it must have taken six months to finish the climb and descend back to earth (that's about how long I would take) ;)
1AmericanInAsia Riding the climb is actually the easier part of the process would you believe? When the sun is shining we filmed a MASSIVE amount of content as we have to maximise the summer potential. The climb may take 1-2 days to film depending on the length of the ride and then it can take up to two weeks to produce (and that’s if you’re really focused on it and not running three businesses as I happen to be). Unfortunately I don’t just have the fun part of riding the climb and then handing it over to a team to get on and produce the videos. I actually edit the videos myself, a job I could easily spend 60-70 hours a week on and nothing else. So we’re working through our library, bit by bit, one climb at a time. Thanks for your patience. Ride safe. Mike
Thanks for and excellent video and mentioning our bike race from the Geiranger fjord to Mount Dalsnibba! This year's race is on June 8th, sign up at www.frafjordtilfjell.com
Mike did say “we” , not I. And yes, he superimposed himself along with that comment. Suppose to keep us outta the saddle and on our toes dancing on those pedals.
Amazing Views just You , Bike,God and the Road!👏💯🙏

Alas, my bucket runneth over. Not to fret, cycling of such serves to strengthen one’s health and hence lengthen one’s life. A virtuous cycle to live by.
This is surely going to be one of my epic rides this summer!
Magic. Golden light on that climb
These videos are all starting to be the same .. Spectacular!!!
They really do make me wanna ride up!
Stunning climb, on what seems to be a nearly perfect road surface!
The road surface is exceptional!
I have no words to express. it's really awesome
Mike, the most impressive part of this video was to see Norway on a sunny day. 😄
hiddenchildren We has a pretty tight schedule so were very lucky that Mother Nature was in a good mood. I’ve been in Norway in summer before and barely saw the sun so this day well and truly made up for it!
Lol very lucky then😎
Great video like always.
i've been there last year in september and it was pretty sunny too ;)

Grandioso! Verdaderamente inspirativo. Queremos verlo montado en la nueva system six de Cannondale!
just unbelievable!
These videos are a one man mission to make cycling sexy.

Thanks you for the message Robert. Wishing you a fast and full recovery. More videos coming soon, just for you! Take care, Mike
@@TheColCollective Thank you very much, Mike!
beautifully filmed.
Epic! Congrats!
Think this could be the best looking climb you've done.
Hola. Buenas noches, que majestuosos lugares. Me gustaría mucho ascender este paraíso. Gracias y Saludos desde México.

Stunning!!
Amazing climb, was there in 2016
Thank you for the inspiration! Will hope to join you on your group rides next year.
Great video! Thank you for doing this! I will be in Norway over this summer for Ironman Norway, and then traveling all over afterwards looking for excellent rides to go easy and take in the scenery. Will take this one in for sure!

Now on the bucket list!!
surreal stuff, great video as always
Dalsnibba is beauty-full; try a few runs up the pass from tidewater at Skagway, Alaska to Whitehorse, Yukon Territory. It's a bonnie wee bit scenic.
Powered by nature 🏡🏋️🚴🌟
Great video. I often wonder what the making of such videos look like ;)
Hope you got to try yourself up Juvass while you where in the area. Norway's answer to Mont Ventoux expect that it starts at a bit more humane altitude of about 500m.
Great video and stunning landscape I also loved the soundtrack. Would you mind sharing it with us? Keep on the great job. Thanks
incredible

btw you forgot to ride the Knuten ;)
Agreed, riding Knuten is very much recommended! Although Knuten is gravel, so I skipped it when I was on my inline skates.
Excellent as usual !!
Very nice Broo.good job
You need to do Glacier Point in Yosemite...you can have the Vegan Cyclist as a host...start from valley floor and get tunnel view...amazing
Awesome! 👊
amazing view, how many months is this place snow free? and what are the best months for visiting?
goose bumps
Amazing and profoundly beautiful. There must have been significant temperature differences between sea level and the glaciers...doesn’t even look like snowmelt on the road...was it below freezing up top still?

from where you select music, it's amazing
Epic but looks really steep in those last sections

Great film, Mike! Where can I find the music???
Epic
I live just a couple hours from geiranger!! Anyone keen for a ride next summer?? ;)

Other great stuff in California would be Onion Valley or any of the American river gorge climbs around Auburn...Iowa Hill, Corkscrew, Rubicon
Beautiful! Whats the song?
And now on to Sognefjellet or Valdresflya. Or better...join the infamous Jotunheimen Rundt Gran Fondo.
Sognefjellet starting from Skjolden at Lusterfjorden would be fantastic!

Kind of a drag having to pause the video to have time to read your info graphics....they're not on screen quite long enough for me to read.
Lets see Gaustatoppen from Rjukan
What's your ftp in terms of watt per kilo?
Please stop!! My bucket list is getting embarrassingly long 😜
Music at the start?
Ei Mike where´s disc brakes? problems to climb?
Nope, I filmed this long before I had the new EVO Disc. You'll see quite a few videos coming out with my older EVO as we work through producing all of the climbs. Ride safe, Mike
So ... this is a night ride? You mentioned 9pm ?
It didn't start as a night ride but pretty much turned into one. We finally finished at just before midnight, absolutely beautiful up there at that time of day....er, night....er, you know what I mean ;-)
tell your sponsors i buy some of their stuff based on your videos.
edward kriege Will do! Thank you Edward!
i own a c'dale, mavic wheels and lezyne pump! i like that lighting system you use; working on it!
Most of time in most of your videos, you rode out off saddle. Do you really climb out off saddle most of time?
Why did it take so long to upload this video? You stated the ride was in June, but the release is Feb.
Well he *started* in June, uploaded in Feb so I guess it must have taken six months to finish the climb and descend back to earth (that's about how long I would take) ;)

Mike Cotty Thanks Mike. Additionally, wondering if EuroSport reached out to you?
1AmericanInAsia Not yet, still waiting for the call 😉
Music brought the vid down

LOL @ 6:00 "We've got it all to ourselves, fairytale stuff" -> very next shot, another cyclist in the background 😂😂😂
I think they’ve actually put Mike two times in the same shot 😉
Look closely. It’s me doubled up #fairytalestuff 😉
😂😂😂😂 you couldn't write it comedy gold 🤓🤓🤓🤓
