In all honesty I think the tank mode is fine but a gun mode would be cool my brother said it would be cool if it was like the concept art megatron where someone was able to turn him into his gun mode
Hasbro literally dropping an atomic bomb on the fandom though as stated a lot of us should've seen this coming from miles away so literally no surprise this was the inevitable outcome.
In all honesty, I could care less about Megatron having a gun mode - I grew up with nothing but vehicle-mode bots, and Megatron was no exception with his tank mode. Hell, I think that Megs having a gun mode is pretty darn stupid, all things considered!
They’ve done it with the original Masterpiece Optimus Prime and the G1 Starscream reissue. Giving them both an accessory of a gun mode Megatron. So I don’t see why they couldn’t do it again but to fit the current Generations figures.
Unpopular opinion, but knowing that it is impossible to get a gun Megatron I would rather prefer some nonsense alt mode like Siege Soundwave if the robot mode was extremely screen accurate like a miniature of MP-36. I honestly think that getting a perfect robot mode for the Studio Series is much better than putting all that tank kibble once again. Great video as always!
I already own MP-36 and MP-05, The World’s Smallest, and 2 of the G1 molds that can fire the plastic bullets. Maybe what Hasbro needs to do is make a screen accurate action figure that comes with a gun mode accessory for other figures that they can hold and give Megatron all of the types of weapons and accessories that they gave to the MP-36 Megatron so that fans can have an in-scale SS-86 to go with the rest of their collection.
This is exactly why I do not care what the alt mode looks like. If it looks good, then I’m fine. I don’t really need a gun Megatron since Megatron would be pretty useless if no one even holds him. A Tank though is more fitting for Megs because it is so much more menacing and powerful.
Mainline Megatron toy not being a gun is all about avoiding the problem with a kid playing with a realistic looking gun outside and potentially having a disastrous interaction with the police.
How did anyone not know this?!?! How did they NOT see this coming?!? Wow.. Also I'm happy to be wrong but I feel like SS86 and TF Dev Megs will be the same figure and/or an updated minor retool a combiner wars Megatron
I think we have too many laws that get in the way of getting stuff done. Also a reason why lawyers get food on their table and why many companies can sit on a license for years and not have to worry about doing anything with it.
As long as there’s an accessory of his G1 gun mode, then it’s passable. I just don’t think this should be in SS86. The Studio Series line is all about getting perfect accuracy, and recreating screens from the movies. I’m fine with this change, but given the line I think it’s fair to be a bit disappointed. It’s definitely not the designers fault, but until we have world peace I wouldn’t be expecting a Gun Megatron.
Exactly. Fans that are insulting the ones who want the gun should also understand that Megatron turned into a gun and killed 3 Autobots and not a tank. Please re-create that, they won't be able to no matter how hard you try. I understand that he can't be a gun because of laws but be sympathetic to those who are huge OG fans.
I honestly don't care about the state of the world. He was a Walther P38 in the 86 movie. They can find a way around it so that the vehicle mode can be altered into a gun-like mode just like Shockwave could.
No, not like Shockwave. Shockwave's gun mode was not based on a real weapon, Megatron's gun mode is in fact however, there's no way to get around it without getting into legal trouble.
Honestly, i don’t care what 86 Megs turns into…. as long as he isn’t a straight up repackage of the same old WFC trilogy mold with new paint and he has his gun mode as an accessory for other characters to use… I’m perfectly fine with it.
And this is why I collect masterpiece scale… at least there’s no rules lol. I have a KO of MP megs 2.0 and it’s amazing. Absolutely accurate to the last minute detail. And it has that perfect alt mode!
Megatron can't be a gun not because of current state of the world but current state of United States. In many other countries gun toys aren't forbidden. The issue here is not that guns kill people, the issue is that you can get killed if you hold a toy gun in America, for example by a cop who doesn't know if it is a real gun or toy. And that was the problem, many kids, including some kids holding G1 Megatron have been shot by the police. This is why there are new rules and regulation forcing at least part of it to be brightcly colored so it can be easly identified as a toy and not as a weapon. So while technicly possible with bright orange or bright green barrel Megatron would be problematic as a gun if the rest of it was meant to be silver/gray and black. If one part is made of bright orange then at least one whole tooling needs to be this color and this could potentially increase the paint budget. Also Hasbro does only brightly colored toy guns that don't look like any real gun to avoid as much potential controversy as they can if anything were to happen. And nobody will get shot by a cop for carrying a toy tank in their hands.
I'm classic so I love a gunmode Megatron. However I knew from the beginning it would be a tank, and I'm fine with that. However me and some other fans did think there was the chance he could have become a gun emplacement/turret or some other form of big cannon which would have at least shook it up a little for variation. Now the figure range is studio series, to be close to what was in the movie, so the figure should come with a figure sized and useable screen replica of his gun mode. This fills the screen accuracy requirement in a work around way and also allows us to complete another section of the shuttle attack since we already have the KIA figures for it. He also needs the mace and allow it be poseable to match alongside Prime. I also have a feeling the pistol and saber will be left out to be part of a "final confrontation" set with cab only Prime in battle damage variants.
I think one of best option for Megatron alt mode is artillery gun. It's equally deadly for infantry, aircrafts and vehicles. It's like a handgun mode, but without flows. And soundwave having drone alt mode have more sense, in modern battlefields drones help artillery to aim from miles away. Kinda helps to retain right hand/loyal subordinate dynamic and Megatron having aggressive militarystic alt mode. But studio series IMO not place for this kind of experiments, so I don't know what's best solution here. Maybe accurate robot mode and some bullshit alt mode for sake of accuracy
I just had this conversation with a friend this past weekend, and basically came to the conclusion that Hasbro really did shoot themselves in the foot in 84 when they decided use the gun robo or whatever it was toy as the main villain of the animated series. Never gave it much thought then but it would actually make lot of sense as to why he was recreated as Galvatron in the movie as space canon would be a lot easier to market than the controversial handgun toy they had put out until that point. Obviously this won't appease all fans, and collectors, but I've been on board with Megatron being a realistic tank since the G2 era. While the Earthrise is far from perfect it still works well as a suitable G1 era Megatron in robot mode, and I feel with a LC budget, better articulation, and engineering a lot of the tank kibble could be cleaned up completely as most evidenced with SS Megatron though tbf the tank mode was anything but good. Really hoping the budget will include the Energon flail, weapon he slashes Prime with, and a scaled down version of himself in gun mold.
Look, guys, there the thing - if you can't do screen accurate gun Megatron, then DON'T do him in Studio Series 86 line. Do him in main Generation line. It's that simple. Do it where time is right or never. I know that Studio Series as the whole isn't trying to be 100% accurate, but it's never been at this rate, when whole alt mode is changed completely. But it's Hasbro's greed. 86 Megatron gonna sell well, even if it's impossible to do him justice, so they gonna force tank mode into the thing, that never had that. THAT what infuriating me personally.
To be honest I don't mind megatron being a tank. In fact, I think it suits him better than a normal handgun. It's more Imposing. He should feel powerful with a powerful alt mode and a gun just doesn't give me power in my opinion.
Ngl, they could just have gun mode megatron as a accessory with 86 megatron, and use the megatron gun in the centurion weapon pack with better paint and stuff
I dont mind of 86 Megatron turns into a Gun or Not (expected it given Gun laws with Toys), i only hope he comes with a Gun Mode Accessory that a figure could hold. Although im suprised they dont pull a Siege Shockwave with Megatron turning into Jet but you can turn him upside down, fold some pieces in and OH LOOK he happens to look like a CYBERTRONIAN Gunship mode
Instead of being animation accurate he's just gonna have to be Devastation Megs since he would be missing the gun barrel on his back with the tank mode.
Zero problem with him as a tank provided he doesn't have the backpack that siege/earthrise megs has or is removable and he comes with his gun mode as an accessory!
They were able to make a whole BUNCH of figures that transformed into guns back during Siege. They were called "battle masters" (targetmasters). Those would actually be the size Megatron SHOULD be in gun mode so he could be held by other figures in the line. A "gun" THAT size is NOT going to cause problems for anyone, however it means Megatron's robot mode would be tiny. However, everyone also knows that recently concept art for a G1 cartoon "jet" mode Megatron (think it was from episode Heavy Metal War) was revealed. Sadly, this also never made it into animation but at least could be an option. But apparently SS86 Megatron can ONLY be a tank, not a jet.
one last thing, I've made this point in other comment sections of transformers channels but its legit truth, Gun mode people want is TOY megatron accurate, not 86 movie accurate, we do not have mass shifting technology, there was no him transforming into a huge hand gun that only a 4th wall breaking human owner could hold. Thus there is zero way to make a movie accurate megatron's transform mode.
Step one: achieve world peace and prevent gun deaths Step two: due to guns being less dangerous we can now have gun megatron This is a net positive for everyone 😂
We should all know it couldn't be a gun.. but a cannon mode would have been better than a tank to be honest. It would have fit with Galvatron better and kept a little bit of logic to the transition.
Hasbro and Designers: We literally cant make Megatron a gun it problematic and illegal. Some fans: THE TRANSFORMERS FRANCHISE HAS BEEN RUINED FOREVER.... AGAIN
I think you might have missed THE reason Megs isn’t a gun - it’s can’t be used to commit a crime. Yes, people have used toys guns to rob other people or threaten them in the past….
Cant turn Megatron into any kind of gun but target masters can become guns and every character gets to hold a firearm. Hell we got a hound figure smoking a cigar, tobacco kills far more people. Lmao
Even though I know they can't make megatron a gun which doesn't upset I understand that, what gets me is that making megatron a tank is the laziest and most predictable thing you can do.
i don’t understand why this argument even exists still, Hasbro cannot sell a toy that looks like a real life gun simple as that. As much as it sucks we just have to accept.
There is no law that states they cant. The law states that he would need a plastic orange plug inserted into the barrel. Toy companies have just stopped making realistic looking guns so there would be no wrongful death suits against them.
I got megatron G1 hasa gun 40 years ago and I never used itas a gun. Was useless. Prefer tank with accessories like mini megatron gun to fit in starsream hand.
I'm personally not surprised that the SS86 toy will be a tank since Hasbro is very much pro-establishment, and the establishment is more afraid of guns than tanks. But having followed a lot of overseas news lately, I've come to realise that a tank is worse than a gun (morally speaking). It comes down to their uses: guns could be used for sport, hunting or self-defense; but a tank is an instrument of war. A lot of people in the Middle East and Eastern Europe (you probably know which countries I'm referring to) have suffered terribly from war. People have lost friends, family members and their homes because of it. War is an awful thing and it shouldn't be glamorised or trivialised. I'm OK with Megs not being a gun, but I've decided to boycott tanks. I even cancelled my order for Bludgeon. Maybe if he was a Crocodile, I'd bite. (Megalligator! Where art thou?). Lastly, apologies if I come across as an SJW, but that's my honest view.
If they got Shockwaves gun (I know it’s an alien gun) and Soundwave’s cassette mode twice even though it’s stupid af, I’m sure they really could’ve gotten the Walther P38. Idc if they have to go to court and talk to the government. I want it and I need it now. We shouldn’t have to rely on 3rd Party to make a chug scale gun mode Megatron. (No, SS 109 doesn’t count)
Dude. All they need to do is include his gun mode as an accessory so that way you can actually use the gun mode without breaking those laws. And it'll be in scale with all the figures. Gun Megatron's stupid anyway so I'm excited for it even if it doesn't include a gun megs as an accessory
If you still want the toy, then buy the toy. I will. As a grown man, when I wanted a gun- I bought myself a gun. I get the best of both worlds lol. Get strapped homie
Why would anyone want him to be a gun? I don’t think it’s even about the “state of the world” as it is the fact that a gun alt mode was always the stupidest idea ever. What would you do with it? None of the other figures would be able to hold him, what are you gonna do just hold it and point it around your house? The tank alt mode makes x100 more sense and just include a to scale gun mode accessory that Starscream can hold.
Nothing is confirmed until you see it in person… I think it’ll get cancelled. At the end of the dash, SS is about ACCURACY. If it’s not true to the original in that movie, then it shouldn’t be a SS. Takara did it as a masterpiece, it’ll be a Japan exclusive, I’m telling you now, if it will actually happen.
So I been collecting basically modern G1 cartoon accurate toys ever since ss86 came out with jazz, I already knew the American version of Megatron was going to be a tank, I am completionist and basically OCD I have to have the way they're supposed to be, but I tell you what if the Japanese version doesn't come as a gun when it comes out, which is my hope and the reason why I'm collecting this, I'll just sell everything that I have and everything that I have is it's a cartoon accurate that's all I collect I don't collect movies I don't collect any other version or any other iteration of transformers.
I am going to be honest, if a bot has a gun/cannon altmode as an extra altmode and doesn't look like an actual gun, that I am okay with. If the gun/cannon altmode is the ONLY altmode, however, that is unappealing to me. I respect G1 Megatron and Galvatron for being the first mainvillains of the franchise, but every altmode after G1 is better than the gun/cannon ones.
Actually I Don't Care Of Megatron Isn't a Gun and I'm Okay With Megatron Being a Tank Because Tanks Are Toughest Military Weapon Same Way Of Stealth Bomber Jet and It Will Match Against With Optimus Prime's Truck Mode Than Gun Just Like Transformers Devastation Game Did.
I’m fine with the tank but he’s going to be a really dull shade of grey for the toon accuracy…and, when you try to pass off the 1986 Toei Animation/Frank Welker cinematic depiction of Megatron as a tank?! That’s a lie. I just hope there’s no vehicle mode kibble.
want the honest answer why now people are throwing a fit? because people now think they can bully anyone into submitting and doing what they want. Fandom Menace type stuff
I'll say this I'm okay with him being a tank but if they were to do him as a gun I'm sure they could somehow figure out how to do the prime Wars Trilogy Megatron gun in figure that out whenever he turned into the gun in that one episode to take out Starscream make him an alien gun I don't care but if he's a tank it's understandable it's basically a gun on wheels
As Some One Who Dont Mind It Not Be Gun Am All Right With It It Cool But I Love Helicopter And Tank More With Him Plus They All Way Upgrade Kit And Fan Mode So Yay
See? this is exactly why after I got 2 Blokees ROTB model kits yesterday that I decided to stick what both Yolopark and Blokees does for Transformers for now on. That stupid controversy of SS86' Megatron being a tank instead being a gun? that's the reason ._. I'm SO once again, and again, and again, and again gonna be taking a hiatus from the Transformers franchise until further self-notice next year by time I'm done watching Transformers ONE in theaters in September because this is just getting ridculous and yet I don't even know if I'll be able to enjoy Transformers ONE either without all that chaos that the Transformers fandom is causing going on- Besides, to tell the truth? ever since I was a kid, I always *HATED* Megatron's gun mode because it makes him look like a frickin' bug compared to Optimus when he's in his truck mode, so like I don't even know what's so dang special about Megatron's gun mode lmao.
I look forward for TakaraTomy to get to work on a Studio Series G1 gun Megatron and sell him in Japan and Transformers fans from outside of Japan can order him from overseas. Hasbro just sucks anymore. As for G1 tank Megatron, Hasbro can keep that version of G1 Megatron. G1 tank Megatron is not worth buying. Does anybody remember G1 Megatron transforming into a tank in the G1 Transformers cartoons and the '86 Transformers G1 movie? I don't remember him being a tank in the G1 cartoons and the G1 movie.
Stupid gun laws. Lucky that MP megatron get to be a gun. SS86 megatron shouldn't be a SS86 anymore since it will not be 86 movie accurate anymore. Put him in legacy line? 😂 Anyways.... I still will buy it... if it's a good figure.
I get it why Studio Series 86 Megatron being a tank is gonna cause criticism from 80s fans as he can't be a gun in alt mode today as strict PC standards with Hasbro had banned gun alt modes for kids these days. As kids these days commit school shootings and end up getting life imprisonment. Such a sensitive world that were in now.
They also want to avoid a potential situation where a child is shot by law enforcement for pointing a Megatron toy at them. Those headlines would hurt the brand a LOT.
WHY!!! THE GUN WAS ALWAYS BETTER THEN THE DAM TANK, BE TURNED INTO A GUN IN THE MOVIE, WHY?! DOES HASBRO WANT TO LOOSE MONEY? WHO CARES ABOUT GUN LAWS, AS IF THEY DIDN’T MAKE NERF, A LINE THAT SELLS TOY GUNS AND BLASTERS, I WOULDN’T EVEN BE COMPLAINING IF THE TIP WAS ORANGE.. SCREW YOU HASBROOOOOOOOOO! oh well… takara did it good with masterpiece and it seems like masterpiece 36 megatron will be the superior megatron among everything. time to pay 300 dollars

@@JNy5873 you really think hasbro is gonna ruin megatrons color scheme and turn him from intimidating purples, greys, and blacks into a horribly ugly orange, white, green and blue?
I’m a Geewunner, but not a Geewhiner. Megatron as a tank just works and i don’t get what people are bitching about, we’re all gonna pose him in bot mode any way.
Not everyone will. I'm pretty sure some of us wants to re-create the Starscream scene where he holds him and shoots 3 autobots. He wasn't a tank and you can't re-create that scene no matter how hard you try with a tank. Yes, maybe some G1 folks are complaining too much but now I'm seeing so much tank lovers insulting those who still want the gun. The latter seriously needs to be more sympathetic and back off. These are the same folks that will probably complain if Takara decides to make the gun version and complain about how the tank is better than the gun to justify their purchase. Yeah, I go leave him in bot mode but be nice if Hasbro could at least release a 5mm P38 accessory. Both parties be happy. It would really fix things a lot.

Step one: achieve world peace and prevent gun deaths
Step two: due to guns being less dangerous we can now have gun megatron
This is a net positive for everyone 😂
they legit can’t do a gun megatron because it’s illegal.
Kinda disappointing he doesn’t turn into a Walter P-38, but understandable though. I hope his tank turret will be able to swivel
I imported MP Megatron ver 2 so I’m good.
Maybe wait and see what TT does with this figure.
Give us a perfect screen accurate megs and a P-38 that one of the other characters can hold .
I prefer megatron being a tank
We should all know it couldn't be a gun.. but a cannon mode would have been better than a tank to be honest. It would have fit with Galvatron better and kept a little bit of logic to the transition.
Hasbro and Designers: We literally cant make Megatron a gun it problematic and illegal.
Some fans: THE TRANSFORMERS FRANCHISE HAS BEEN RUINED FOREVER.... AGAIN
I think you might have missed THE reason Megs isn’t a gun - it’s can’t be used to commit a crime. Yes, people have used toys guns to rob other people or threaten them in the past….
tf fans when toy laws exist: "buh- but...but me gun altmode! WAAAAAHHHHH!!!!"
@jellyshonagon All gun laws are Unconstitutional.
Would you call making Optimus Prime into a fire engine lazy? Same thing with this, it's the only other alt mode most associated with the character
i don’t understand why this argument even exists still, Hasbro cannot sell a toy that looks like a real life gun simple as that. As much as it sucks we just have to accept.
There is no law that states they cant. The law states that he would need a plastic orange plug inserted into the barrel. Toy companies have just stopped making realistic looking guns so there would be no wrongful death suits against them.
Duh what did y’all expect
I am praying that they'll include a fan mode that makes it a gun
I got megatron G1 hasa gun 40 years ago and I never used itas a gun. Was useless. Prefer tank with accessories like mini megatron gun to fit in starsream hand.
Not to be pessimistic. But, come on. We already know it's just gonna be Siege Megatron again
sadly shockwave cant be a gun either despite a purple alien ray gun being far from realistic
He can have his gun mode
Yes. Yes we expected a studio series figure based off the movie to be a gun. If you can't make it a gun, then don't do it at all
I'm personally not surprised that the SS86 toy will be a tank since Hasbro is very much pro-establishment, and the establishment is more afraid of guns than tanks.
Watch someone find a secret gun mode to it
If they got Shockwaves gun (I know it’s an alien gun) and Soundwave’s cassette mode twice even though it’s stupid af, I’m sure they really could’ve gotten the Walther P38. Idc if they have to go to court and talk to the government. I want it and I need it now. We shouldn’t have to rely on 3rd Party to make a chug scale gun mode Megatron. (No, SS 109 doesn’t count)
It just isn't happening
Megatron being a tank was always better for me so i dont care
Love the Tank!!
Cause it is fun?
Nothing is confirmed until you see it in person… I think it’ll get cancelled. At the end of the dash, SS is about ACCURACY. If it’s not true to the original in that movie, then it shouldn’t be a SS. Takara did it as a masterpiece, it’ll be a Japan exclusive, I’m telling you now, if it will actually happen.
werent you literally begging hasbro a while back to make him a gun when he was first announced?
MP-36...Japan tho.
That's Takara over there in Japan
Actually I Don't Care Of Megatron Isn't a Gun and I'm Okay With Megatron Being a Tank Because Tanks Are Toughest Military Weapon Same Way Of Stealth Bomber Jet and It Will Match Against With Optimus Prime's Truck Mode Than Gun Just Like Transformers Devastation Game Did.
So it'll be Transformers Devastation Megatron then? I mean it's still G1
Yeah, all be perfectly honest. I hate gun Megs, so I prefer tank megs.
To me it's a get over it situation.
They can easily do a gun megatron just make hem a hasbro pulse exclusive
They can't
I’m fine with the tank but he’s going to be a really dull shade of grey for the toon accuracy…and, when you try to pass off the 1986 Toei Animation/Frank Welker cinematic depiction of Megatron as a tank?! That’s a lie. I just hope there’s no vehicle mode kibble.
You said current state of the world no it’s just current state of North America
What about all the wars and rising violence everywhere else?
@Chrisjam UK is not rioting with guns.
Wasn’t Siege shockwave an upsidown gun
It was, but not based on a life gun as opposed to Megatron's gun mode which is based on a real life gun
Just get siege megatron or combiner wars megatron
want the honest answer why now people are throwing a fit? because people now think they can bully anyone into submitting and doing what they want.
I have no problem with this, Megatron as a gun was and always will be a really pointless thing, Megatron should've been a tank from the beginning
As Some One Who Dont Mind It Not Be Gun Am All Right With It It Cool But I Love Helicopter And Tank More With Him Plus They All Way Upgrade Kit And Fan Mode So Yay
Bro I just want the gun mode
See? this is exactly why after I got 2 Blokees ROTB model kits yesterday that I decided to stick what both Yolopark and Blokees does for Transformers for now on.
That stupid controversy of SS86' Megatron being a tank instead being a gun? that's the reason ._.
I'm SO once again, and again, and again, and again gonna be taking a hiatus from the Transformers franchise until further self-notice next year by time I'm done watching Transformers ONE in theaters in September because this is just getting ridculous and yet I don't even know if I'll be able to enjoy Transformers ONE either without all that chaos that the Transformers fandom is causing going on-
Besides, to tell the truth? ever since I was a kid, I always *HATED* Megatron's gun mode because it makes him look like a frickin' bug compared to Optimus when he's in his truck mode, so like I don't even know what's so dang special about Megatron's gun mode lmao.
That was a long sentence
Anyways.... I still will buy it... if it's a good figure.
Makes no since because there is lots of toy guns still sold it's very dumb
more like because the current state of politics.
"Fucking PC Hasbro and...
*shuffles deck, pulls out card*
not wanting kids to get shot for playing with their toys."
@@CaptainSnappy Oh yeah. They don't play no games.
@@NexusProductions-rz1sv I know. Pain in the ass.
@Hi-Im-salad Oh yeah.
Whyyyyyy!!??
BS BUT NERF IS OK😅
nerf is brightly colored fictional guns
Megatron is a grey walther p38 (a real gun) that can obviously just look like someone put decepticon stickers on an actual gun
@@thegodzillafandomsrookie5514 still a gun
